Boys From The South Gelbvieh and Balancer Bull Sale
Hosted by Green Hills Gelbvieh and Butler Creek Farms
November 29, 2025
Saturday • 1:00 pm cst
James E Ward Ag Center, Lebanon, TN
The boys are back! We would like to welcome each and every one of you to our 9th Annual “Boys from the South” bull sale. We here at Butler Creek along with the Green Hills crew have tried to put together the top end of our bull crop to satisfy you as the producer. Our goal has always been to produce superior seedstock that can excel for both the commercial and registered cattlemen alike. I always like to tell people you are getting the best of the best of what we have to offer. These bulls have made it through two different culls. One at weaning and another at 60-90 days post weaning. We do that to ensure growth and soundness for you as the buyer. These cattle have not been “pampered.” We hand feed around 1-1.5% body weight. As dad would say “don’t burn them up.” We feel like testicles and feet have better longevity feeding at a lower rate, along with getting more honest weaning and yearling weights. There are several bulls in this offering that are hard to let go, but we learned a long time ago if you want to make a living in this industry you have to sell your best and this is what we have done here.
We would like to thank the Teeter family for their help in putting this sale together. It could not be done without them. After talking about having a bull sale for several years, we are happy to continue this tradition with them.
Finally, I would like to thank you as the buyers and bidders. Without a strong customer base this sale would not be possible. We enjoy working with new and old customers alike. We stand behind our bulls and we stand behind our customers. Bulls were vaccinated at birth with Inforce 3 and Bovine Ecolizer + C20; at weaning all bulls received Bovi-Shield Gold FPVL5 HB, Vision 7 Somnus, Safeguard dewormer and then at BSE time were given another round of shots the same way and poured with Dectomax. Bulls passed BSE, tested negative for trich, and negative for BVD PI. If there is anything we can help you with feel free to look us up sale weekend or give us a call. We look forward to seeing you November 29th in Lebanon!
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 9th Annual Boys from the South sale. It is our privilege to be working with the Butler family again to bring you this sale offering. Our programs both believe that sound structure and phenotype are the key to productive cattle with longevity that will help add dollars to your program.
We have been breeding Gelbvieh cattle since 1986 and have always believed that cattle must work in the real world. Our bulls are developed on pasture supplemented by high roughage feed so that they do not fall apart when they get turned out on pasture. We are a family operation and our sons are actively involved in our program which means our program of 35 plus years should be here for years to come. We have built our program on repeat customers by supplying sound cattle.
We appreciate the past buyers and hope to make new friends with our new customers. We appreciate your interest in the sale offering and look forward to helping you find animals that will help make your program more profitable. The Green Hills bulls have been vaccinated using 2 rounds of ViraShield 6VL5 HB and Vision 20/20 with spur and one round of Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot. They have all passed a breeding soundness exam and all bulls are tested BVD PI negative. To ensure that we only offer you our best, these bulls have survived 3 rounds of culling: at weaning, at yearling weights, and at picturing and filming.
Sincerely,
Walter, L , Ga e , Justin, & Austin T ter

Pretty neat critter to start off with. Homo black, homo polled calving ease bull who is loaded with quality and maternal backing. It’s hard to make cattle this stout, soft bodied, easy keeping and still keep them sound, excitable on paper with actual growth all while nursing an awesome 2 year and in a slick maternal package. Combining sires like Musgrave Stunner, EGL Lifeline with the great 25D cow who brought us AI sires like GHGF Carbon Copy and past high seller GHGF Man O War. BW and Milk top 10%, CED top 35%. The Riptide cattle continue to impress in all aspects from a numerical standpoint to phenotype, to real world growth/production and this year’s group of them do not disappoint. Probably the largest set we have offered yet and arguably the deepest. M610 leads them off and this guy is no slouch to do so! Big time high growth type ¾ blood bull with the added size and stretch to make cattle that will weigh up when it counts and back by as strong of a maternal side as you will find. Blue’s Impact back to the 310T cow family who produced the past high seller GHGF Cracker Jack. Homo black, homo polled with a 102 WW ratio and 105 at YW. Top 30% WW, 35% TM. Qualifies TAEP.

Arguably as neat of an individual and breeding piece as is in the offering. Both a standout on paper and in the flesh with a neat genetic backing that says this guy should not only have the ability to sire high end bulls and steers but also make the slick haired, hard working, good uddered daughters with longevity built in. One that you could write a book on describing all the good he offers but to keep it short we are high on this powerfully made, long-bodied bull and even higher on the young Stunner daughter that’s behind him. Watch for big things out of her in the years to come and here’s a chance to get in on the front end. Top 3% Marb; 4% CW and WW; 10% FPI, TM, MWT, and CERY; 15% TPI and YW. Homo black, homo polled. Qualifies TAEP.
Lot 5 GHGF M06
A true all-around sire here that not only covers it all on paper but leaves nothing to lack in person either. Power, body, structural correctness and way good looking. Love the Blue’s Impact cow behind this one and the cow family behind her, you won’t find them better footed, uddered or harder working. Good bull here and the picture doesn’t lie. He will be a crowd favorite on the 29th. Homo black, homo polled, Calving ease, Growth, Maternal and Carcass all wrapped in one. Top 3% Marb; 15% TPI; 20% BW and STAY; 30% FPI; 35% CED and MPI; 40% TM; 45% WW and Milk. Qualifies TAEP.
Back-to-back here with the spread bulls who are those all-around kind of sires that combine Homo Black, EPD strength, quality phenotype, and solid growth with leading AI sire genetics back on standout hard working cow families that get the job done year in and year out. Can’t write one much better on paper than this guy. FPI, TPI, TM, Milk, and CREA top 10%; CEM, CW, Marb, and DOC top 15%; CED,CFAT, YG, and CERY top 25%, MPI, WW, YW, BW, and MWT top 30%. Big time standout here that’s been a favorite from early on. Good looking, ultra sound, powerfully constructed Rebel Yell son that comes with extra foot, body and muscle. Natural calf off a 12-year-old donor cow who is still producing and has one of our favorite bulls in the weaned group this year. Outcross pedigree for us here at Green Hills and sports a double digit CED with a negative BW and strong maternal traits. Homo black, homo polled. Top 5% DOC, 15% HP and SC; 20% STAY, MWT, and CERY; 25% Milk, MARB, and $GAIN; 30% BW and DMI. Qualifies TAEP.

Solid numbered with one heck of a productive mom who traces back to the Whitney and JBOB 5277P donors who both produced well into their late teenage years for us. This guy has been my pick of the black older bulls all summer and when you lay eyes on him, you’ll know why! Look, balance, power and body all combined a very high degree. Out of our Stunner son who’s quickly proven to not just be your run of the mill heifer bull as he’s siring bulls and heifers at the top of their groups and coming off first calf heifers. Out of a hard working 2 year old Man O War daughter who produced a stand out bull again this year, and if I was a betting man will find herself in the donor pen come next spring. Projected EPD’s listed.
Seed stock herd sire alert here! I’ll go out on a limb here and say it, but this guy is as good if not better than his sire and we dropped the boat big time by not having him halter broke and getting him promoted. Take our word for it or we invite you to come join us sale day or before to check him out and tell us we’ve lost our minds. The E365 cow is one of our best and one that’s going to play a lot more of a role in our program moving forward as she never misses and flat can make them no matter how she’s mated. Half-brother GHGF Change of Pace runs the pastures in Selby, SD for Lazy TV and the reports have been nothing but good out of the calves. Homo polled. Qualifies TAEP.

Same song, little different dance here Homo black, homo polled purebred with power, body, bone and this one sports as good of a look as any. Backed by Encore x Blue’s Impact. If you can’t tell we are high on this cross and have 110% confidence in these cattle. If you need a set of bulls that can run together and make a uniform set of calves, then I would highly recommend gathering as many of these as you can, you won’t be disappointed. Qualifies TAEP.
Diluter free Red Homo polled purebred. Picture doesn’t lie on this guy, good looking, long bodied with plenty of power and gas in the tank. Once again, the Encore x Blue’s Impact mating hit and this time with the Zelda 20Z donor thrown in on the bottom side.
Great way to lead off a new sire group for us here. These Done Dirty cattle are performance driven bulls that come with a shot of extra muscle and punch to them. Big bodied extremely heavy muscled dude here that has a killer Blue’s Impact x Butler’s Kali 281Z cow behind him. Homo black, homo polled.

They don’t come any squarer built or burlier bodied than this guy. 874 lb actual weaning weight to over 1300 at yearling if that kind of growth doesn’t pay in this market, I don’t know what will. Top 20% WW, TM; 30% YW, $Gain; and 35% YW. Qualifies TAEP.
One of the really good ones here and we are all in on this dude! A look that won’t let you forget him with added power, body and out of this world actual growth that’s backed up on paper. This was our first big run of calves from our Done Dirty herd sire that we kept back a few years ago to add some extra power, body and fast growth back to some of our bigger cows while keeping them slick haired and maternally driven and man have they impressed. M70 is no different. Here’s a soft bodied, stout hipped one that hit the scales hard at weigh times. Model cow behind this guy that is low input, easy keeping, slick haired and perfect uddered. Growth and maternal all wrapped up in one. Homo black, homo polled with WW ratio of 105 and YW of 106.

Easily one of the favorites for us in this year’s group and has been since birth. It’s hard not to look at cattle like this guy and not get really fired up. Good looking, packed full of true muscle and as wide and expressive as you can make one all while being soft bodied and super sound. Top it off with the cow that he is out of is a no miss kind and easily in the top 10 best cows in the fall cow herd. Just 77 lbs at birth to a whooping 828 lbs coming off the cow for 109 WW ratio and nearly 1300 at yearling. No bones about it here, this one is our favorite yearling and maybe of our group in the sale! However, we pride ourselves in being 100% transparent on the cattle and this guy is not for everyone as he can be a little quick at times. If that’s no issue for you then guys get in here and bid fast and often come sale day cause this dude is flat good. Everyone has asked me all year long if we had another Landon and the answer is yes; this calf is in that league. Huge middled, huge backed and stout hipped and can flat move. Backed by as good of a Blue’s Impact daughter to have walked the place that can flat raise them as you see here 75 lb BW to actual 844 lb weaning and he kept it all gas no breaks to a scale smashing 1512 lb yearling. Homo black, homo polled and homo good!! Ratios birth 98 with weaning 113 and 117 yearling, 7 traits in the top 35% or higher. Qualifies TAEP.

Man oh man you talk about an impressive, stout, burly, high performing, high percentage one that comes with the big feet and legs and the added punch and body to not only sire the scale smashing kind but this guy’s biggest highlight most likely will be the set of daughters he will generate. Out of a black full brother to Man O War whose first calf crop has us extremely excited. Backed by what would be the model of a picture perfect Balancer cow who comes from the famed Julia cow family. Another one who we think a lot of that flat smashed the scales and is Homo black, homo polled and flat good. Ratioed 110 at weaning and 113 Yearling. Bigger framed, long bodied Homo polled 75% who comes with added body and fleshing ability for a higher percentage bull. This guy is backed by one of the oldest cow families on the place in the 61 cow family and they are the definition of longevity and productivity. Not only will he add performance, but he will make those slick haired, hard-working females that will last a lifetime! 1 of 4 bulls out of first calf heifers and boy did his 2-year-old mother get to work on this guy 77 lbs to 764 actual weaning. Homo black, homo polled calving ease specialist who came into the world at 61 lbs but then off his 2-year-old dam at over 700. Not to sound like a broken record but this might be the strongest set of calving ease bulls we have offered, and they do it with the added punch and gas in the tank to add $ to your bottom line not just get you a calf on the ground. Top 15% BW, 20% PG30; 35% CE, Marb & Milk. Qualifies TAEP
Here’s a Homo black, homo polled heifer bull option that also nursed a hard working 2-year-old that understood her assignment and did it well! 75 lbs at birth to over 750 at weaning and bred back to calve up earlier this year. If that’s not a statement right out the gate to cow power, I don’t know what is. Don’t just settle for a run of the mill heifer bull who will just give you a calf when you can get a good one that won’t take away pounds at weaning or from the maternal that drives your cow herd. Qualifies TAEP.

Power packed Homo polled high percentage one here that is loaded with body and performance all in a super calving ease heifer acceptable package. Really good Cowtown daughter behind this guy that nursed him from a 76 lb start to 767 weaning. Good genetics pay and they pay even more when your two-year-olds can have a set of calves that will weigh up with the mature cows. BW top 25%. Qualifies TAEP.

Homo black, homo polled 25% bull that we think a lot of. Every year there are a couple of bulls who get sorted off at weaning as ones we take a long look at to keep back to make our next herd sires and this guy was a quick sort for that group. Extremely high performing and fast growing with added substance and power and backed by our favorite Angus cows on the place. Our percentage Gelbvieh is getting lower in a lot of our cows or this guy and Lot 63 would have dang sure not been leaving, we are very high on both these bulls and think they can offer a lot. FPI top 40% and actual weaning of 834 lbs.

If you ask Justin what’s the best bull we have in the sale he will be quick to tell you lot 63! They don’t make them any better looking or built any better at the ground than this guy. But he’s not just a pretty, super sound one this guy packs a powerful punch from behind and is loaded with body and rib shape. We think this guy is as good of an induvial as we have made in a while and has a ton to offer and as an added bonus is an outcross to a lot of the genetics we have been offering. Big time bull here and one that will see use in our program. Homo black, homo polled Top 4% MWT; 3% CERY; 15% YW, $Gain; 20% TM, Marb; 25% CW, Mk; 30% WW; 35% FPI. Qualifies TAEP.
The Renovation 0128 bulls are a new sire group this year and while there aren’t many, we think they make up for it in quality. 0128 is a sire we plan to let see quite a few more cows this year and when you see them, we think you will agree. These cattle couldn’t be more right for the times or our environment, they are slick haired, fast-growing, big bodied, easy keeping, good footed cattle that offer balanced carcass traits and loaded with muscle. To sweeten it, the first daughters have near perfect udders and the right amount of milk. M0324 is all of that and has been a standout from a power and performance standpoint from early on with an actual Weaning of 810 lbs ratioing 107.
