Welcome to the Sale 2021-2022 We have seen some unusual things this year. Our male to female ratios were all out of balance for us. For example we had 75% of our 5L The Real Deal 1687-143B calves were bulls while only 20% of our Mushrush Blockchain E616 calves were bulls. We also had nine calves that could have been red or black and they all came out black. Though everything seemed to be uneven calving season went well, the calves grew and we are excited about the final product that we have to offer you in this years bull sale. For the last 4 years our calving window has only been for 45-50 days. We have seen our fertility go up to 95% this year on 48 days of breeding. We believe tightening our calving window will result in better fertility to our buyers.

This also marked the first year we scanned all of our heifers and the 3rd year of scanning our bulls.

This data is going to be extremely useful going forward in our program and we feel the more data we offer to our customers the better decisions they can make on selecting bulls for their program. Last and most important we want to thank you, our customers. Your business means everything to us and we will never take you for granite. How our bulls are raised:

We raise our red Angus bulls on cover crops with their dams until weaning. Afterwards, we give a starter ration for a few weeks.

Then, they transition into a grower ratio put together by Justin Axman. This year, we utilize some stockpiled cover crop mixes, and the bulls got to go out and graze during the day from weaning until late January.

Bulls can be viewed at 9:00 a.m. sale day at the Greeley County Fair Grounds in the Ocie Room/Livestock Pavilion.

Retaining Semen:

At Young Red Angus, we will retain half semen interest on all bulls.

Rewards:

Buyers who bring their trailer to the fair grounds will receive $100 credit for the 2022 sale.

Volume Discounts:

Young Red Angus offers volume discounts for purchasing three or more bulls. Three bulls 3% off, four bulls 4% off, up to 10% off ten or more bulls.

Our Bulls are fertility tested and pass a soundness exam before opening day. We guarantee the bull’s fertility for the first breeding season. We will also provide a suitable replacement for the bull if an injury or issue keeps the bull from breeding during the first breeding season. Please notify us immediately if a problem occurs, and we will give you a replacement bull or receive full credit minus the salvage value of the bull. Notification before the salvaging of the bull is required. Bulls going to a state that requires Trichomoniases test will happen before delivery.

Buyers who bring their trailer to the fairgrounds will receive $100 credit for the 2022 sale.

Delivery:

We offer free delivery of our red Angus bulls within 300 miles of Tribune, KS. Deliveries between 300-600 miles from Tribune, Kansas, will cost $300. At 300 miles, drop points will be available for buyers.

If you are more than 600 miles away, please contact us beforehand to cover the shipping cost.

Auction Format:

24 hour online auction through DVAuction. Buyers will be able to bid online through DVAuction or via telephone by calling Jay Young or another representative. The auction will last 24 hours. If a bid is placed within 5 minutes of the close of the auction, 5 minutes will be added to the auction until no bids are placed for 5 minutes.

YRA Shoot First 5487-9112 We made a mistake with this bull. We used him to clean up to a hand full of heifers we bred early and then put him on a set of commercial replacement heifers. The results were we only got two bulls off of him. These two bulls are so exceptionally impressive that we are more than excited for what YRA Shoot First will do for our program. LD Capitalist 316 We have loved our LD Capitalist calves. This was the first year we scanned both our heifer replacements and bull calves. It was eye opening to see the performance on all of the LD Capitalist calves. LD Capitalist still remains one of the most phenotypically stunning bulls out there and we are not done utilizing this bull.

This is a bull we debated keeping as a herd sire. He has very sound structure, moves well and will add muscle, depth and volume to his progeny. His Dam is a nice 5 year old Defender cow that has stuck AI every year. He also scanned well having the 2nd best ryebeye and IMF of his contemporary group.

60 Young Red Angus Replacement Heifers We are offering 4 lots of 15 replacement heifers that were raised on cover crops. These replacement are a gate cut coming from the heart of our commercial cows and several of our customer replacements that we purchased in the fall of 2021. These heifers have been given a started ration during weaning for 1 month then were placed back on cover crops until the sale. They are bangs vaccinated, pelvic measured, guaranteed open and are ready for breeding.

A buy it now option will be available on all four lots. Hauling will be on the buyers. Anyone purchasing bulls and heifers we will subtract the $300 off the price of one bull per lot of heifers.

After all who would keep a black bull that isn’t an out cross in a red angus program? But one day in July this bull caught my eye and I was blown away. His thickness and masculinity at a young age was undeniable. His dam YRA Black & Glorious 745-9745 was our lightest cow when we prechecked at 978 and his adjusted weaning weight was 781. She weaned 80% of her body weight and bred back!
