Welcome The Diamond Lazy J Ranch would like to welcome you to our annual bull sale. The wet summer and mild winter are certainly welcome after experiencing the extremes of last year. We would also like to thank all of our returning bull buyers and anyone that is attending our sale for the first time.

Our program has been based on over 30 years of AI’ing and developing bulls that fit the needs of the Sandhill rancher. We also emphasize raising cattle with a good disposition. These bulls are raised utilizing the resources of the Sandhills, which are grass and hay. The calves are grown on a hay-based diet over the winter, run on summer range and again supplemented in the fall and winter while maintaining a grass and hay diet. This allows the bulls to grow without being pushed. We feel this will increase the longevity of the bulls while allowing the true genetics to come through. Our balanced trait selection allows you to keep heifers that will perform in the Sandhills without sacrificing the performance of feeder cattle.

Family and friends are the other part of Diamond Lazy J Ranch. We love to have people stop, whether it’s looking at cattle, a cup of coffee, or sharing a meal with us.

SALE TERMS

Delivery: We will offer 3 options for delivery: 1. Free delivery on purchases of $3,000 or more and up to 300 miles from Valentine, NE. 2. We will deduct $75 per bull if you haul from Valentine Livestock.

3. Bulls may return to Diamond Lazy J Ranch for a feed cost of $4.00/day until you would like the bulls. Bulls will then be delivered free of charge within 300 miles of Valentine, NE when the buyer would like them. *Regardless of which option you choose, all risk is assumed by the buyer at the time of the sale.

Herd Health: All bulls have a complete vaccination record and they will be fertility tested, scrotal measured and guaranteed sound by Dr. Brad Rogers, Cherry County Veterinary Clinic, 402-3763750, Valentine, NE. A certificate of fertility can be furnished upon request. All bulls are eligible for interstate shipment, except as otherwise announced. Interstate health papers will be furnished for each animal in accordance with all State and Federal regulations.

Registration Papers: A copy of pedigrees and EPD’s will be provided to each buyer. Registration papers can be transferred upon request.

Terms & Conditions: These cattle will sell under terms and conditions adopted by the American Angus Association, except as otherwise stated.

Guarantee: All bulls selling are guaranteed for 90 days from the first turn out against breeding injury. Credit for amount of purchase minus $2000 will be applied toward another bull if available or applied toward the purchase of another bull in next year’s sale. Buyer keeps the salvage value of the injured bull. Buyer should notify seller as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to selling injured bull for salvage. This is not mortality insurance nor does it cover mismanagement or neglect.

Online Bidding: Online bidding is available at dvauction.com. Buyers must register will DV prior to sale day. If a bull is bought online, buyer will be contacted sale day to make delivery arrangements.

Barnes Angus Welcome Cattleman Finally made it to sale day! Through one of the toughest years many ranchers have ever seen in our area. It started with record amount of snow that would not leave which truly tested our cattle to the limits. Just like this last winter when it started raining, we received record amounts which just made things a little more trying with washy grass and getting hay put up, but at least there was grass this year.

The Barnes Angus Ranch is a 4th generation commercial cow calf operation. At one time my Grandpa Garth had a dream of having his very own production sale, but never saw that dream come true. About 7 years ago Justin and Brent talked to me about starting to sell bulls out of the registered cows that my wife received from the Diamond Lazy J Ranch Partnership as a way to expand the Bull Sale offering. We started out with 16 registered cows from Diamond Lazy J and progressed to over 200 registered cows currently running at Barnes Angus. Most of the Registered cows trace back to one of the biggest named seedstock operations in the country, Stevenson Angus.

I am truly excited to bring one of the best sets of 2 year old bulls I have ever offered. Every bull in this offering is a Virgin coming 2 year old bull. These bulls are slow grown for longevity and will last in any conditions.

During the year, these bulls are not pampered and need to prove themselves.

The bulls were summered in a 400 acre pasture and had nothing but grass and mineral this summer. Then around November they were hauled back to the ranch headquarters from November to sale time. These bulls are put on a growing ration to get them ready for sale day.

I want to stress this set of bulls is as docile as any bunch I have ever had. My children enjoy coming with me to hand feed these bulls every day.

It is important that my kids are safe while around these animals and want your family to be safe as well. I personally invite you to come look at them at the ranch before the sale. Please contact me with any questions.
