Placing a Bid

7:00 a.m. (MT) Bidding Opens

When you set an Automatic Bid amount, the auction automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot ends for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. This means you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed.

7:00 p.m. (MT) Bidding Closes

Here’s how it works: When you set your high limit bid, you type in the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the lot. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller.

The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid. BUT, if no other bidder has a higher maximum, you win the lot. And you could pay significantly less than your maximum price!

Manual Bids – Single Bid Button Click on the BID button pertaining to the lot that interests you. The single bid button indicates what the next bid needs to be in order to get “IN”. Please note that using the single BID button will not be as quick as using the Automatic Bid (proxy). Due to slow internet connections out there, we CANNOT guarantee last second bids will get through every time – so please don’t hesitate when bidding one bid at a time. We strongly suggest utilizing the automatic/proxy bid button to ensure your bids are accepted.

There is no possibility of tie bids. They auction server accepts bids when they are received – first come, first serve.

In the case of setting a proxy amount (high limit for automatic bidding), if two people try to set their high limit at the same price, the second bidder asking for that amount will be told to choose another amount since the amount he has chosen is already taken.

Bidding activity and confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. Bidding activity logs and data are maintained by EDJE Auctions for purposes of resolve conflicts or legal contests only. Sellers do not have any access to bid logs. Sellers do not have access to Proxy bid amounts, so you can place your high limit with confidence that it will not be revealed to the Seller nor other bidders. Your proxy bid will not be “run up” without another legitimate bidder competing against you. Your privacy is guaranteed. * EDJE Auctions does NOT charge the buyer a premium to purchase.

You pay the exact purchase price and no more. All purchases are handled between the auction management and buyer.

We are offering a Repeat Bull Buyer Discount. No discount for heifers, and heifers purchased do not count towards this discount.

2% for 1 year repeat buyer; 3% for 2nd year repeat buyer; & 5% for 3rd year repeat buyer.

Examples: Purchased bulls in 2017 & 2018 – 2% off total bull purchase.

Purchased bulls in 2016, 2017 & 2018 – 3% off total bull purchase.

All animals sale under the general terms and conditions of the American Angus or American Hereford Associations. All animals become the buyers’ property as soon as sold and will be cared for until delivered at the buyers’ risk. We encourage placing insurance on your purchases at the time of sale to cover your investment. We will have contact with an agent for this purpose at sale time.

First season breeding guarantee on all bulls.

First breeding season is defined as 90 days from first turn out. All bulls are guaranteed against injury that would keep them from being a breeder for the first breeding season. If a problem occurs, contact us immediately. A suitable replacement (if available) will be provided OR a credit of 75% of purchase price minus salvage value will be given at next year’s sale. This guarantee does not cover the death of the bull or any treatable condition, such as foot rot, pinkeye, etc. All claims must be made by September 1, 2018. This guarantee ends as of September 1, 2018. We assume no liability, legal or otherwise, to make further compensation to the buyer. No other warranty of any nature is expressed or implied. All injuries must be diagnosed by a certified veterinarian. We will not be responsible for breeding soundness after the first breeding season. Insurance will be available to purchase on all lots at the time of the sale. At the option of the purchaser we will pay 50% of the cost of the premium for one (1) year. If this option is taken it will take the place of our ranch guarantee and no further guarantee is offered.

Full payment due upon possession of bull or female. You will be invoiced after the close of the sale. Make payments to Ipsen Cattle Company at the time of delivery upon your full approval of purchases. We will start calling successful purchasers the day after the sale to gather all information that will be needed in the transfer and delivery of you animals.

Herd Health is excellent and under the care of Dr. Daniel Erickson. Individual Health Papers will be provided for shipment anywhere.

All Bulls will be semen tested, PAP tested, and will have passed a breeding soundness evaluation. They will also be BVD tested neg. Bulls selling will be virgin bulls unless otherwise stated in the footnotes.

Females will be preg checked by a certified veterinarian or by blood draw from Utah State University.

Heifers sell safe in calf with no further guarantee.

Registration certificates will be transferred to buyers at seller’s expense. Please leave specific transfer instruction, preferably association issued breeder number if possible. Females that carry calves from sires that are not owned by Ipsen Cattle Company will not be furnished AI certificates on resulting calves.

Delivery: We will deliver free of charge to your ranch or a place acceptable to buyer within a 300 mile radius of our ranch. All other deliveries outside that 300 mile radius we will do all we can to get them to a central location or will meet your truck to make delivery as easy as possible and at an actual cost of delivery. Delivery will start as soon after the sale as we can put loads together.

Some states require additional or different tests than Idaho. We will start these tests the day after the sale and will care for animals free of charge until we can get all requirements met to make delivery on your purchased animal.

Welcome to Our Sale!

Welcome to our 2018 production sale. This will be our 42nd year selling bulls. Other than a few years away to college I have been here for all of it. I say this in reflection of where the cattle industry has been as a whole and especially in reference to where our cattle have fit into the industry during that time. My father instilled in me early on never to chase fads. By following his wise advice, we have stayed middle of the road in many things. With that being said we have never sacrificed structural correctness, fertility, do-ability or eye appeal. As a result we are proud to offer to you what I consider a top end set of bulls. They have been developed with the commercial producer in mind to deliver years of service, not just to look pretty on sale day. This is a result of our work and passion.

Sale Terms:

Buying bulls is a huge investment and has long term effects on your herd production and profitability. If you have questions please feel free to call and let’s discuss your concerns. We have tried to give you the most information on each lot we can, using all tools available to us. We have ran i50K test on some of the Angus bulls and those individuals will be noted in the catalog. Enhancing their EPD’s to help in the selection process. We also changed our feeding program this year. Bulls are ran on grass for 60 days during June and July. After coming back in, they are fed long stem hay and 4 ½ lbs. of steam Flaked corn and a mineral/vitamin pellet. This is a reduction from the 6 lbs. we have fed in the past.

Again this year we welcome Bob and Mickie Sparks to the sale. They are long time friends and genetic partners. Bob and I have partnered on Angus herd bulls for many years now. Through this partnership we have been able to have walking herd bulls that are as good as the A.I. sires at the studs, thus allowing our offering to be better and deeper in quality than it would otherwise. The Yrlg. Bull numbers are down slightly but this is by far the best set of bulls that Bob has brought to the sale. The replacement heifers again are top end. If you are looking for outstanding F1 replacement females we have them. They will carry the service of leading calving ease AI sires to provide excellent calving ease. As a sale feature this year we are offering our Angus Donor cow (lot 44); look her up in the catalog for all her information.

Those that have been with us in the past, we say thank you and welcome back. Those of you, who are new, welcome aboard. We know this is not the traditional way of buying bulls but it is fast becoming the norm and those of you who are busy in the spring have commented on how much they like bidding on bulls from the calving sheds. We have tried to make it as easy as we can and very self-explanatory. We will do all we can to assist and help you in any way, feel free to call anytime. The bulls and heifers are available to view anytime and we encourage that. Do so at your convenience, just give me a call and we can see all that you would like. Rubicon has posted the heaviest yearling wt. in the Hereford portion of the sale. He is a big volume bull that is thick across the top and deep thru the ribs. He exhibits a lot of muscle in his rear quarter. He has developed into the biggest ribbed and stoutest hipped bull in sale. 6107 has been one of my favorites since birth and he keeps getting better everyday. When you walk in the pen he quickly grabs your eye and it is pretty hard to look away. His EPD’s are pretty impressive considering both his dam and sire are 14 years old. I know this is a pretty bold statement but I believe you will drive the wheels off your truck and spend a whole lot more money this spring to buy a bull that is equal in quality as what Rubicon is no matter what the breed is!

Polled, Pigment: LE 0%, RE 100%, Scrotal 100%. Madison exemplifies the direction that we are trying to take our Hereford breeding program. He is long spined, clean and shapely through his front 1/3, deep bodied with excellent spring to his ribs, thick and full of red meat in the rear 1/3 of his body. All this packaged on a very correct skeleton structure with a very acceptable frame score. He is very correct on his feet and has a very correct set to his legs. Being dark red, smooth polled and is so very easy to be around. His dam is a moderate framed, easy keeping cow with an ideal udder. MADISON was the heaviest Hereford bull at 205 days and has continued to develop nicely in a pretty stout pen of bulls. His genetic indicators places him in the top 15% of the breed in 6 very important categories.

We have kept all the daughters of the 31X cow in our herd and they are making tremendous herd matrons. Dam’s production: CI 367, BW: 4 @ 96.5, WW: 3 @ 106, YW: 3 @ 100.7

Donor Cow, PATHFINDER COW. Every year I try to make the last lot in the sale a special offering. This year I am offering a rare opportunity to purchase a very good Donor cow. The only reason I can do this is because we have a bank of embryo’s from her in the tank.
