When I saw this guy as a calf on the cow where some of our ET calves are raised, first thing I did was call Mom and tell her we had the next Man O’ War. I know that is a bold statement to make especially when one is just a baby, but I wholeheartedly believed it then and still do to this day.

To put it in perspective of how much we believe that, instead of halter breaking this guy we put him straight to work this summer and bred all the donors to him after flushing. Just like Man O’ War, here is a red, homo polled bull that comes from proven genetics that aren’t exactly your mainstream hot sires of today, except this one does it in an 88% package. The second of the Cracker Jack bulls in the offering and one that we have been big fans of from very early on! This guy is one good looking, big bodied, big footed, fast-growing fool that comes with a shot of added size and extension. To top it off he was raised by a picture-perfect model 2-year-old who flat knew how to get the job done raising this guy to a whooping 864 lbs. actual WW while breeding right back and had another bull calf that’s once again at the top of this year’s Spring group. I hate to sound like a broken record but here is the same song, different verse on these Riptide sons out of arguably the best set of 2-year-olds we have ever calved in the spring. These cows flat got it done last Spring & Summer and did it without a lot of extra grass as we, just like a lot of places, were in less than ideal conditions with the dry and heat. When we left the bull sale and flew to Highmore for the Eagle Pass Dispersal, we were pretty sure we would try to get the Vivian cow as we were already big fans of her as the Ledoux family had been showing her both as a heifer and even more so when she won Denver as a pair.

Dark red, homo polled. My personal favorite of the 4 flush mates in the sale! The more moderate, stoutest ended one who has a huge soft center and is a carbon copy of his dad at the ground. Very good bull here but I will be up front, he is a little watchy. I would not be scared to use this one here as the rest of this flush is very laid back, but he would be best suited for larger operations and more experienced people as he gets a little faster in tight spots. If that’s you & you want one that can really move a program forward, then I’d be all in on this guy.

Hands down my favorite higher percentage bull we have in the sale and one of, if not my favorite Encore son we have ever had…need I say more!

He is the right size, easy keeping and has the body, power, look, build, foot, and bone to be a big-time herd sire. Homo black and homo polled ¾ blood to boot with a 728 lbs. WW and over 1,200 at yearling so plenty of growth despite what the paper says. I might not know much but I do know that with the genetics behind him in Encore, Zeus, Blue’s Impact, and the 5277P donor that he will make really good, long-lasting females and cattle that will grow, and they will be the right kind. Last I checked numbers on a paper don’t pay bills but no matter what, high-quality cattle with actual weights and eye appeal will always fetch top dollar.
