All cattle sell under the Suggested Terms and Conditions of the American Simmental Association and are available in the office the day of sale.

Herd Health All Buzzard Hollow Ranch cattle are from Certified Free Brucellosis & Tuberculosis Free state.

The mature cattle from BHR have been vaccinated with Bovi-Shield Gold FP5 VL5, Ivermectin and Vision 7. All young cattle from these herds have received Vision 7 with spur and a booster, as well as Bovi Shield Gold FP5 VL5 an a booster.

Fellow Simmental-Simbrah & SimAngus Breeders, to the 22nd Annual Designer’s Classic. It is a great honor to have each of you visit BHR for this event to inspect the cattle from both BHR and the guest consignors.

The preparation for this event actually started some 30 plus years ago when I set the standards for the BHR breeding program based upon sound genetics with a high degree of repeatability that would meet the needs of the Commercial cattle industry not only in the U.S. but around the world. The Fleckvieh based SimAngus program was added so that I could show Commercial breeders what Fleckvieh cattle would do to increase their weaning weights, fertility, milk and disposition and their acceptance has created a complete new dimension to the BHR line of genetics.

As you go through the catalog and the cattle you will see that a new set of BHR Sires have taken the place of many of the older sires and they are all sons or grandsons of the sires that have set my program apart from others by being consistent producers of high quality offspring. I urge you to look at the pedigrees on these sires: BHR BARON SA 2824P, BHR AUGUSTUSTA Y575, then analyze their progeny and see what they have added to complete the package.

INSTEAD I TALK ABOUT IN HERD RATIO’S WHICH TELLS YOU HOW THE CATTLE DID IN MY HERD AGAINST THEIR CONTEMPORARY GROUPS, WHICH I FEEL GIVES YOU A TRURER PICTURE OF WHAT THE CATTLE ACTUALLY ARE. I would also like to thank the guest consignors for bringing high quality cattle to this offering, many of which carry a little different twist in their genetic makeup. These consignors are conscience breeders and you can visit with them about their programs and thoughts on breeding Fleckvieh cattle.

The AI, on the fall born heifers, was done on 2-3-16 and the cleanup sire was turned in on 2-15-16 to 3-31-16. The cleanup sire for the fall born full Flecks was BHR Mystic A871E, a BHR Mystic son sired by Orange River out of Lettimars Elsa out of Jungles dam BHBJ N075E. The SimAngus and Purebred cleanup sire was BHR BLAIZE B587E sired by JF American Pride out of the legendary SimAngus cow BHR ARRISSA R389. The use of cleanup sires was only done because of my travel schedule.

The select set of bred spring born heifers were AI’ed on 3-23-16 and will not have a cleanup sire.

Kathie, as I have said before may have been the jewel of all the genetics that I brought in from South Africa and the only reason I am selling a pick here is because the last embryos of Karlie were used to produced these two females and I will keep the one not selected for the BHR herd. Kathie's dam was not very impressive as an individual but she had the ability to produce as does Kathie.

As you study the pedigree and the photo of Kathie and then Blessing and Bliss, you can see that I line bred these females for maternal traits that carry just a touch of power from Kykso Hadau. Kathie is line bred Hagan on both the top and bottom side and with Blessing I infused Hadau and Hagen on the top side. KING OF JUNGLE has been a main stay in my program since 2008 and in 2015 I effectively took his semen off the open market and will only sell limited amounts each year at the Designer’s Classic. I don’t believe that I have to tell you what his impact has been to my herd as well as countless herds around the world. If you go back his birth weight was quite high but he weaned at 866, yearling at 1675, with 3.83 IMF and a 17 sq. in REA. The best ever produced at BHR. His birth weights are a little higher than the average but his calving ease is quite exceptional sitting in the top 20% of the breed.
