Trucking We will deliver bulls free of charge up to 300 miles. After 300 miles, standard trucking rates will apply. If the buyer is unable to take their purchase on sale day, we will board the bulls free of charge until April 1. A $100 discount will be given for any bull taken home sale day.

The Red Angus breed has continued is unprecedented growth for a variety of reasons: exceptional carcass merit and opportunity for premiums at harvest, accuracy of EPDs, and adding value to commercial cross breeding systems. However, we feel the most important reason to be using Red Angus genetics is the momma cow. Her ability to calve easy, keep her flesh, breed back in a timely manner, and then still push the scales at weaning time is what has solidified the breed's place as second amongst all other breeds in America.

Our first and highest priority when making selection decisions is on the female. If we didn't feel that these bulls’ daughters could work in any part of the country, they would not be offered. It is the cow family behind the bull that separates the average from the best. We have continued to build a breeding program based around some of the most proven maternal genetics that North America has to offer. We do not have any cooperators, and these animals have never left the place. We take pride in knowing our cattle very well.

I would like to point out that many of the bulls in the offering are embryo transfer calves. I have identified those in the footnotes. Please keep in mind that the actual BWs on those individuals are not indicative of their true genetics, but more indicative of their recipient mother's birthweight tendencies. Because the association's EPDs are being updated weekly, it is continually important to measure a bull's value based on the percentile ranking of whichever trait is being evaluated. Those percentiles are listed below the EPD values.

EPDs are a proven tool that we use in our program, but they are not the focal point of the selection process. In our search for superior genetics, we have found that there tends to be a discrepancy in many mainstream bloodlines with breed leading EPD values, and real world functionality. Many times, genetic selection decisions tend to be made on the computer playing with numbers rather than using visual appraisal and common sense. At the end of the day, there are plenty of high numbered red angus cattle out there that don't have the physical attributes to either be as good as their numbers suggest, or to plain work at all in a non forgiving production environment.

Finally, our aim is to raise bulls that may not be the extreme from an EPD profile standpoint, but are balanced in their numbers, individual performance, and have ample rib shape and muscle, while also improving feet and udder structure in their daughters. We realize that this may seem unrealistic to some, but that is our goal as breeders to identify the cattle that can consistently do that, and ultimately help to improve our customer's bottom line.

We are making a change this year as far as the way we will be guaranteeing the bulls. Aside from infertility, all other guarantees will be made through insurance only. For customers who choose to insure their bulls on sale day, York Creek Red Angus will pay 50% of the policy premium for Options 1 or 2 listed on the following insurance page. Insurance representatives will be present at the sale to insure purchases in person and over the phone. There is free delivery within 300 miles, and free boarding until April 1. We will still be offering a $100 cash discount to anyone wanting to take his or her bull home directly after the sale.

YCRA Hector H60 • Lot 1 We’ve led the sale off the last two years with sons of our leading donor, Patty 701T, and I think it’s fitting to not break tradition.

This Yukon son embodies what we are trying to emulate in our herd; blood red hided, three-dimensional cattle with added foot quality, and true red angus character. Breed average growth tabulations, but with the addition of Revelation in the bottom side of the pedigree expect him to add ribeye size and increase fleshing ability in his progeny. He had the top ratio in his contemporary for REA and BF on his ultrasound scan.

YCRA Saga FG1 • Lot 11 The last of this group of half brothers, FG1, sets the standard for base width and three-dimensional shape. He has a ton of herd bull character. Expect him to moderate frame without sacrificing pounds weaned. Of all the 18 month olds, he came in off of grass in the fall in the best shape. His mother was the high selling individual in the 2017 Sonstegard female sale. She is a very interesting breeding piece due to her extreme marbling scores. Notice this bulls carcass numbers as well. There is a lot of potential to receive some rewards on the grid using bulls such as this.

TERMS: Terms of the sale are cash, check, or other terms agreed to in writing between seller, buyer, and sale manager payable immediately upon conclusion of the sale before animals will be moved. Sale Manager reserves the right to require a certified check as settlement before releasing any cattle. Buyer hereby grants to Seller/Sale Manager a security interest in the livestock purchased to secure the payment of the purchase price, and Buyer further authorizes Seller/Sale Manager to file any necessary documents with any Secretary of State or other governmental entity necessary to perfect such security interest.

ANNOUNCMENTS: Any errors or changes in information contained in the catalog will be announced from the block and such announcements shall take precedence over the information contained herein.

BIDDING: Any disputes or challenges regarding bids or tie bids will be settled by the Auctioneer and the decision will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK: All animals are the owner’s risk prior to their sale and become property of the purchaser as soon as declared sold by the auctioneer.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A certificate of registry for each animal will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense.

FROZEN LOTS: Buyer is to pay for all shipping and handling of embryos and/or semen. Embryos and/or semen will be shipped COD or a separate account established at the storage facility within 30 days of sufficient payment unless other arrangements are made with Sale Manager and/or Seller.

HEALTH: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment. Interstate health papers prepared by an accredited veterinarian will be furnished on each animal sold. Arrangements for International Shipment should be made with the Sale Manager prior to the auction. All efforts for the exportation of cattle can be arranged through the Sale Manager.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: All animals are guaranteed by the seller as outlined in the Suggested Sale Terms of the Red Angus Association of America including but not limited to points 8 and 10.

LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, auction facility, and sale manager assume no liability for any accidents that may occur. Neither does the seller, auction facility, or sale manager assume liability for the loss or injury to livestock due to theft, mysterious disappearance, sickness, improper handling or Act of God. It is to be clearly understood that the sale manager and its representatives act only as a medium between the buyer and the seller. They are not responsible in any way for the failure on the part of the buyer and seller to live up to their obligations or for the truth of any warranties or representation, express or implied. Neither does the sale manager assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of monies between parties. Any legal action, that may in exceptional cases be taken, must be between the buyer and the seller. This catalog has been prepared by the Sale Manager from pedigrees and information supplied by sources deemed reliable, however, the sale manager will in no way guarantee the pedigree, percentages of the animals selling, or data included in this catalog. Any exceptions taken are between the buyer and the seller.
