Diamond H Ranch “Dependable cattle from our pasture to yours!”
REGISTERED & COMMERCIAL HEIFERS REGISTERED YEARLING & 18 MONTH OLD BULLS
Annual Production Sale March 27, 2019 LaCrosse Livestock Market ~ LaCrosse, KS
www . diamondhranch . org
FRIENDS AND FELLOW CATTLEMEN Welcome to the Diamond H Ranch Annual Production Sale! First and foremost, we cannot express our gratitude enough to our past customers who have supported our program over the years and allowed us to do something that we truly love and enjoy! The relationships we have made (and continue to make) will always be priority number one for us. When our customers are successful, it only makes this job that much more rewarding! Since the last sale, something very exciting has happened at the Diamond H…other than a major deduction in the drought conditions. WE HAD A BOY!! Stockton Gerard blessed us with his presence on May 25th and our lives have been forever changed for the fourth time! Having a boy has been quite an adventure so far and we enjoy being a family of six. Aly, Graycee and Brynn still run the operation on a day-to-day basis, always keeping an eye out for when mama and daddy forget something. Overall, the last 12 months has been very good to us and abundant moisture has helped us replenish our water sources, fields and pastures. The cowherd has enjoyed the rains as well (hitting 97% conception) and as you will see in the upcoming pages, better than average growth on and off the cow. As always, we are constantly measuring and collecting as much data as possible to evaluate our herd and move in positive directions. There are some new sire groups that will likely get your attention and some older sire groups that we have continued to use. Maverick, Stakeholder and Rebel have continued to produce well-balanced cattle. Even though their time is coming to an end here at the ranch, their mark will be seen in many years to come as we have retained a good number of females from these sires (many of their daughters have raised the best lots in this offering). In addition to these sires, we have several new sire groups that show some very positive movement going forward. When analyzing these sire groups, please reference the comments under the sire listed to see a more in depth description. We still hold the Red Angus and Red SimAngus females in high regard and many quality replacement females are in this offering. The previous sales have been very positive as the purchaser’s are enjoying the natural maternal abilities of these females. Our replacement heifers hit 100% conception last summer, and of that 82% conceived AI. The optimum environment helped this happen and with the abundant moisture in place throughout the region, here is a set of registered and commercial females that could be a nice start for someone looking to expand, replenish or start a cowherd. Again, we would like to thank all of you for taking an interest in our program. If at any time you have questions or would like to take a look at our cattle, please feel free to call. One of the most rewarding things about this business are the phone calls and visits from past customers. On sale day it’s all about the cattle, but in life…it’s those relationships made with like-minded people that you cannot replace. We would also like to thank our family who is always there to help and support us and to those who have guided and helped us over the years…we send out the most heartfelt appreciation to you all as we would not be where we are today without you! God Bless,
Justin and Jade

The impact of new sires is far longer than we usually consider. If they are still breeding cows in five seasons, the last calves will come in 2023. That means you should still have plenty of daughters into the mid 2030s! With that long term impact on your cow herd and industry changes that mean more dollars for genetically better calves, can anyone really afford to take chances? Use IGS EPDs to guarantee value! They are third party verified and backed by data from millions of individuals and the best in DNA genomic technology in the business. You wouldn’t buy any other ranch input without solid proof of value. Genetics might be your most important investment. Buy where you see the Allied logo and get the profit based genetics that you deserve.

AVERAGES TO KEEP IN MIND In addition to phenotypic evaluations, we use numbers to measure our cattle in various ways (like most operations). In reference to that, here are a few statistics about our cattle throughout the past year: Our cowherd had a 96% conception rate through the 2017 breeding season (71% conceived by AI)
Our replacement heifers had a 94% conception rate in 2017 (80% conceived by AI) and a 100% conception rate in 2018
Our cowherd had a 97% conception rate through the 2018 breeding season (78% conceived by AI)

$ INDEXES · WHAT ARE API AND TI? $ Indexes Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ Indexes come in. Through well conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ Indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ Indexes: All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
Using API and TI First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements, use API...if not, then use TI. Just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls (as described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed). The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ Indexes visit www.simmental.org.
UNDERSTANDING EPDs Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) — The difference in expected performance of future progeny of an individual, compared with expected performance of future prog- eny of an individual of average genetic merit in the base time frame for the genetic evaluation. EPDs are estimated from phenotypic merit of an individual and all of its relatives and are estimates of one-half the breeding values. EPDs are generally reported in units of measurement for the trait. Average Daily Gain (ADG) — Measurement of daily body weight change over a specified period of time of an animal on a feed test. Back Fat Thickness (BF) — Estimates the average differences that are expected in fat thickness at the 12th and 13th rib between progeny of different animals. Birth Weight (BW) — The weight of a calf taken within 24 hours after birth (reported in pounds). The EPD value predicts the difference in average birth weight of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of all other bulls evaluated. A positive value indicates heavier-than-average birth weights while a negative value indicates lighter-than-average birth weights. Calving Ease (CE) — The ease with which a bull’s calves are born to first calf heifers. When comparing calving ease EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a higher percent of unassisted births for calves sired by this bull. Carcass Weight (CW) — The EPD predicts the difference in average carcass weight of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of all other bulls evaluated. A positive number indicates heavier-than-aveage carcass weights while a negative value indicates lower-than-average carcass weights. Frame Score (FRAME) — A score based on subjective evaluation of height or actual measurement of hip height. Maternal Calving Ease (MCE) — Percent of unassisted births in first calving daughters. Marbling Score (MARB) — A subjective evaluation of the amount and distribution of intramuscular fat. The EPD value predicts the difference in average marbling score of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of all other evaluated bulls. A positive value indicates higher-than-average marbling scores while a negative value indicates lower-than-average marbling scores. Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW) — The weaning weight of a bull’s daughters’ calves. The EPD value predicts the difference in average 205-day weight of a bull’s daughters’ calves compared to daughters of all other bulls evaluated. A positive value indicates heavier-than-average weaning weights while a negative value indicates lighter-than-average weaning weights.
Milk (MILK) — The milking ability of a bull’s daughter. The EPD value predicts the difference (due to milking ability) in average 205-day weight of a bull’s daughters’ calves compared to calves of all other bulls evaluated. Positive values indicate above average milking ability of daughters while negative values indicate below average milking ability. Most Probable Producing Ability (MPPA) — An estimate of a cow’s future productivity for a trait (such as progeny weaning weight ratio) based on her past productivity. For example, a cow’s MPPA for weaning ratio is calculated from the cow’s average progeny weaning ratio, the number of her progeny with weaning record, and the repeatability of weaning weight. Ribeye Area (REA) — The average difference in ribeye area in an animal’s progeny when compared to the progeny of another animal at a given age endpoint. Scrotal Circumference (SCROTAL) — A measure of testes size obtained by measuring the distance around the testicles in the scrotum with a circular tape. Stayability (STAY) — The expected difference, in percentage probability, that a bull’s daughters will remain in the herd until at least six years of age. Weaning Weight (WW) — Calf weight taken between 160 and 250 days of age and adjusted to 205 days of age and a mature dam equivalent (reported in pounds). The EPD value predicts the difference in average 205-day weight of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of all other bulls evaluated. A positive value indicates heavier-than-average weaning weights while a negative value indicates lighter-than-average weaning weights. Yield Grade (YG) — Predicts differences in USDA Yield Grade score. This EPD is calculated using the genetic predictions of CW, REA, and BF EPDs. Yearling Weight (YW) — Weight taken between 330 and 440 days of age and adjusted to 365 days of age and a mature dam equivalent (reported in pounds). The EPD value predicts the difference in average 365-day weight of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of all other bull’s evaluated. A positive value indicates heavier-than-average yearling weights while a negative value indicates lighter-than-average yearling weights.

Maverick was the high selling bull in the 2015 C Diamond/Wilkinson Bull Sale. His unique pedigree provides a very proven maternal line in the Simmental breed and has just the right amount of performance to keep cattle efficient and relatively moderate. His disposition is five star and his offspring express this as well. His granddam is arguably one of the best red Simmental cows in the country…look to his progeny to increase maternal genetics and maintain performance. Semen is available through Allied Genetic Resources.

DHCC Rambler 644D is an F1 son that we raised in 2016. His sire (CDI Maverick 335B) does not need an introduction, but his dam (HRAA Romo 733) is our top donor cow. She raised this calf and to say the least, he was never offered for sale. His first progeny are in this offering, being as well balanced as his sire and coming from a female who carries an MPPA of 114…his offspring are the kind to build a herd with! He keeps birth weight in check and the cattle express strong growth and maternal traits. We do not see many holes in this sire; his disposition and phenotype are top notch.

Stakeholder was the second high selling bull in the 2016 Leland Red Angus Bull Sale (he sat second to his half brother that year). We have been very pleased with his first calf crop. This sire has a considerable amount of performance and maternal traits in his pedigree being that he is in the top 26% in WW, the top 33% in YW and below breed average for BW and CED. Take a look at his GM, MARB, CW, MILK and HPG EPDs. He excels well above average in over 50% of the EPD categories. His calves will bring a positive movement upward in growth, carcass and maternal traits. Overall, he is a very well-balanced sire.

We have used Rebel repeatedly throughout the years and have been consistently pleased. His calving ease is always appreciated and the daughters we have retained are already making their mark inside the operation. Throughout the catalog you will see Rebel daughters as the dams of both bulls and heifers. I really appreciate these cattle because they are the kind that requires very little attention. From calving to grazing season, all the way through feeding…they just get it done.

Bieber CL Atomic C218 is a sire that we have used in both our AI and ET programs. After we saw the first calves, we were really glad we had extra embryos with him on the topside of the pedigree. The cattle calve very easy and grow. Although he is not a growth curve bender, you will see that his progeny display a lot of depth and red meat. Almost all of his calves are born in the 65-75lb range. Look for this sire to add depth of body and hip to your Red Angus cattle, along with strong maternal and carcass genetics.
Hybrid vigor plays a huge role in our operation. From the beginning, we knew that Red Angus would be the foundation of our herd, but we also knew that breed complementarity was something we could not ignore. Through a systematic Red Angus and Simmental crossbreeding program, we can bridge the gap in our never ending quest to create the most balanced animals we can that have the ability to fit multiple scenarios and environments. Inside our own ranch, the crossbred female continually proves herself and we have the data to back it up. Increased fertility, efficiency and longevity are just a few of the things we love about these cattle and we will continue to combine the best genetics out there to create them.

LSF SRR Sleep Easy 4083B is another sire we used in our AI program and we will use him again. The overall performance of his calves is enough to impress anyone, but crossing him up on highly maternal cows just dials in the recipe for success. He is one of those sires that when you walk in the bull and heifer pen, the cattle just catch your eye…it also doesn’t hurt that his EPD profile jumps off the page at you! Look for his calves to add growth and carcass to your calf crop while keeping calving ease and birth weight very manageable.

This ½ blood Rambler son is really something to look at. He comes from a Beefmaker cow that has defined herself year in and year out; these are the kind of balanced bulls we like to offer. His calves will add weight to your calf crop and has the kind of maternal genetics that screams female maker. For use on cows…his calves will be just the right size to make you money. Take note of the 1493lb yearling weight; we feel that as more data comes in on Rambler progeny, the growth numbers will start to rise.

DHCC Stakeholder 785F is a powerful 1A Red Angus bull. As referenced before in the sire summary, we really enjoy raising the Stakeholder cattle. We have kept a good number of the daughters and they represent easy fleshing type cattle with strong growth and moderate birth weight. The bottom side of his pedigree has Epic in it, which has a number of top sires throughout the breed. This bull should be used on cows.

Here is a herd sire from the word go! This F1 bull has many stars lining his pedigree: Maverick, Sleep Easy and his granddam is a Beefmaker cow we recently put into the donor program. This calf has excelled from day one with an outstanding shape and dimension along with a very solid birth to yearling spread. He really does many things well. This bull reminds me of Maverick when we purchased him four years ago. Don’t miss your chance to own one of the most balanced bulls we have created!

DHCC Defender 776F is a potential heifer bull that has Schuler Strategy 3343A on the bottom side who was our heifer bull several years back. This 1A bull displays a very nice birth to yearling spread and some solid carcass traits. I would not rule out his ability to make females as we have kept a very good number of Strategy and Hondo females as replacements for our operation.

DHCC Sleep Easy 740F had a half brother in the top of the sale last year. Year in and year out his dam, Jans Beatrice 0205, has been a producer regardless of what we bred her to. DHCC Atomic 791F is an extremely deep bodied and thick high percentage Red Angus Atomic son that has a lot going for him. The Atomic cattle tend to display these traits and his dam, DHCC Conquest Z025, is as good a hybrid cow as you will find. With 12 EPDs in the top 35%, a birth weight of 72 and an adjusted yearling weight over 1400 pounds, we really like this young bull and feel he could be used in multiple scenarios.

DHCC Gladiator 754F is the first of the Gladiator calves to sell. Gladiator is an up and coming sire at Bieber Red Angus Ranch and the cattle are very consistent and balanced. This hybrid bull should be used on cows and we think you’ll like the offspring. He has 10 EPDs in the top 35% and with JJX Hondo 256Z and Pelton Miss Ashlyn 0872U on the bottom side, replacement females is definitely a possibility.

DHCC Stakeholder 771F is a high percentage Red Angus Stakeholder son out of a Rebel cow with 11 EPDs in the top 35%. This bull has a moderate frame and still put up the numbers on the growth side. His grandam on the bottom side, DHCC Lancer W903, has been a very consistent female for us and all of her progeny have avoided the cull pen.

DHCC Maverick 709E is the first fall bull to sell and is an F1 ET calf out of Maverick and our donor cow, MLK CRK Lakota 680. The Lakota line is known for its ability to produce very balanced and consistent females. This bull has a very nice phenotype and strong maternal genetics. As you’re looking through the offering, keep in mind that the actual birth weight for ET calves is derived from the recipient cow and not the actual mating.

DHCC Independence 705E and DHCC Independence 707E are purebred Red Angus bulls who have an up and coming donor on the bottom side. We really like the calves we are getting from MLK CRK Bonnebell 209. She is a moderate framed female with a very feminine look. The 5L Independence sire is known for calving ease and carcass qualities. Both lots could be used on heifers and would share no relation with the females offered in this sale.

DHCC Maverick 710E is another nice representation of Maverick and MLK CRK Lakota 680. As sires age, the mark they leave on your program can last for generations. Watching our Maverick daughters raise some of the top lots in this sale and knowing how many young bulls we have sold sired by him to successful customers tells me we have a future! The balance they carry never sends you as a breeder down the wrong path.

DHCC Dynasty 712E is an ET son of Schuler Dynasty 4803B and our other Lakota donor cow, MLK CRK Lakota 929. This young bull does numerous things right. With below average birth numbers and above average growth, he should move your cowherd in a positive direction. He has a solid maternal pedigree, so be sure to look at the females as potential replacements.

DHCC Rambler 753F is a long bodied, thick made bull who travels well. He is loaded with performance and he will catch your eye in the pen. His grandam on the bottom side was the mother to Lot 1 in last year’s sale and always produced keepers. This bull has two great cows in his pedigree, one being our top donor cow (HRAA Romo 733). Oh, and did we mention that Maverick and Beefmaker are in there as well?! Look for his progeny to add consistency to your calf crop and dollars in your pocket!

DHCC Sleep Easy 770F is another really nice Sleep Easy son out of a Rebel daughter. His grandam on the bottom side is still in our herd at 12 years of age and is due to calve any day. With 12 EPDs in the top 20% of the breed, take this young bull and use him on your cows to add pounds to your calf crop and keep you in the black.

DHCC Out In Front 742F was raised by a cow past her prime and he still has an adjusted yearling weight over 1400lbs. He shows high performance genetics in a rather eye appealing phenotype. This bull would work great in a terminal cross scenario.

DHCC Rebel 765F is the result of an older mating but it still works like a charm! He has a great spread and he is loaded with maternal genetics. His calves will come easy and will maintain mature size. You should see some replacement females from this guy and the steermates will finish quickly and grade.

Why not take your best cows and put them with your old proven sire and see what happens?! Both DHCC Maverick 745F and DHCC Maverick 741F are the result of that and come from two of our donors. After being flushed, we turned them out to raise their own calf. Although both bulls are later born, you really can’t tell when you walk in the bull pen. Don’t miss these two maverick bulls, as they are loaded with genetic potential.

This young, outstanding FI sire is a product of Maverick and our top donor female, HRAA Romo 733. His sire is represented throughout the catalog and continues to produce consistent, well-balanced calves with exceptional maternal traits. His dam carries an MPPA of 114! She has never missed a breeding opportunity in 12 years and we have never culled any of her offspring. She is the epitome of a great, hard working cow. She is currently in our donor program and is flushing 20-30 embryos every cycle. Semen will be available through Diamond H Ranch. - 28 -

DHCC Stakeholder 787F and DHCC Stakeholder 768F are a pair of Stakeholder sons out of two very proven maternal lines. The grandams of these two bulls are matriarchs and have provided some of the top producers in our sales over the past 12 years. DHCC Lancer W909 is still producing and RX Miss Cherokee 368 just retired last year. These two bulls bring back many memories and its great to see the lineage carrying on.

Well, here we are...seven lots from the end of the bull sale and this calf (DHCC Stakeholder 759F) still exhibits some really strong numbers. Last year was an exceptional year for us and the depth of this calf crop is shown right here. He has 8 EPDs in the top 35% and almost a 1300lb adjusted yearling weight. This Stakeholder son has a nice look to him. You might want to take a look at Lot 56 while you’re here… he has 12 categories above average as well!

We’ve said it many times…the best cows raise the best calves! What better way to start the females than with a low birth weight, efficient, strong maternal and carcass female?! DHCC Defender F750 is an ET calf that comes from a proven donor and a very popular Red Angus sire. Take her home and let her work for you!

We have not let go of too many Maverick daughters, but with time even the best sires run their course and you just can’t keep them all. If you like the efficiency, longevity and fertility of SimAngus females, don’t miss out on DHCC Maverick F719.

Diamond H Ranch Production Sale | March 27, 2019 | 12:30pm
The ¾ Red Angus females have a history at the Diamond H. Those recognizable blue tags always stand out. They have proven themselves in drought conditions and hard winters, yet they’ve excelled in prime conditions. DHCC Rambler F717 is a Rambler daughterwith maternal genetics stacked on both the top and bottom of her pedigree.

DHCC Maverick F708 had a full brother who topped our sale three years ago. DHCC Rambler F703 has our top proven donor, HRAA Romo 733, on the top side of her pedigree and Beefmaker on the bottom. These two ½ blood females will make great cows for people who like to stay in the black.
Videos of the cattle can be viewed online at diamondhranch.org

DHCC Defender F741 is a full sister to Lot 62. This is another example of what great cows can do. We kept a number of Defender daughters and can’t wait to breed them. We feel there should be a lot of flexibility in these females and with the MLK CRK Lakota 929 donor dam, the ability to stay and grade should be there.

DHCC Rambler F751 also has our top donor in her pedigree, but her dam (DHCC Ticket X004) is one of the most eye appealing females at our place. Her grandma, DHCC Lancer’s Peg T705, just calved at 12 years of age and never missed a calving opportunity.

MULTI-BREED GENETIC EVALUATION Powered By BOLT International Genetic Solutions (IGS) is an unprecedented collaboration between progressive breed associations fervently committed to enhancing commercial profitability. The collaboration has yielded the world’s largest genetic evaluation of beef cattle with over 17 million animals and 120,000+ genotypes. In keeping with our commitment to the cattle industry, IGS is pleased to announce the IGS Multi-breed Genetic Evaluation powered by BOLT. The new genetic evaluation provides more predictive EPDs, better use of genomics, more accurate accuracy reported with EPDs, all with weekly evaluations. The announcement ushers in a new era in genetic evaluation—an era made possible by a genetic evaluation system dubbed BOLT (Biometric Open Language Tools, owned by Theta Solutions, LLC). The concept for BOLT started in 2014 as a research endeavor between the American Simmental Association and Drs. Bruce Golden and Dorian Garrick. BOLT is, quite simply, the most revolutionary and powerful genetic evaluation system in existence. Its power allows IGS to leverage genetic evaluation methodology that was once thought to be untenable on large databases—methodology that significantly improves genetic prediction. In December 2016, IGS published a multi-breed stayability, the industry’s first EPD using BOLT and the first single-step methodology applied to a large beef cattle database. Since that time, the IGS genetic evaluation team has worked toward fully implementing BOLT with an automated system that enables weekly evaluations for an entire suite of EPDs. As of May 5th, 2018, ASA is the first of the IGS partners to publish a full suite of EPDs generated by the IGS Multi-breed Genetic Evaluation powered by BOLT. Here are the notable changes in the evaluation: Movement of EPDs and reranking. EPDs and indexes will change. These changes will be more dramatic for younger, lower accuracy cattle. The IGS team has tested the changes and proven the new EPDs result in superior predictions of genetic merit. Shrinking of EPD range. You will notice a reduction in the range of EPDs for most traits. The IGS evaluation team tested the statistical veracity of the reduction and it has proven to be in line with expectations based on the genetic variation in the population. Improved use of genomics. With the switch to the BOLT software, IGS will use single-step genomic evaluation on all EPDs. Single-step uses DNA markers, pedigree information and phenotypic data simultaneously in the prediction of EPDs. Previously, molecular breeding values (MBVs) were calculated from the genomic information and those MBVs were blended in a separate procedure into the EPD predictions. The single-step method squeezes more information from the DNA markers than the previous approach allowed. Additionally, with single-step, the genomic information will not only enhance each EPD for the genotyped animals but also will be used in the EPD estimates of relatives. It is well established that DNA markers vary greatly in their effect on traits—ranging from large to virtually no impact. To leverage this biological fact in a statistically advantageous manner, the BOLT single-step method only uses markers that have a meaningful impact on the traits of interest, while ignoring those that have little to no effect. Research has shown that by using this approach, BOLT reduces statistical “noise” and thereby increases the accuracy of the EPD prediction compared to other single-step methods. It is important to note, continued collection of phenotypic records remains a vital part of genetic predictions. DNA testing will never replace the need to record and submit phenotypes. More accurate accuracy. In the previous IGS evaluation platform and all others in existence other than BOLT, the calculation of the accuracy associated with each EPD is achieved through “approximation” methods. It has long been known these methods are a less than optimal approach to the calculation of accuracy—tending to overestimate accuracy. By employing unique computing strategies that leverage both software and hardware efficiencies, BOLT performs what was previously unthinkable—utilizing a sampling methodology to calculate what is essentially true accuracy. Unlike approximated accuracies, BOLT-derived accuracies will result in predicted movements associated with possible change holding true over time. This is not the case with the previous IGS software or any other system currently in existence. While the IGS evaluation team and partners are excited to release this new chapter in genetic evaluation, the new genetic evaluation system will only realize its true potential if the selection is made using its EPD and index values. Hands down, there is no better (more accurate) way to select for quantitative traits than an EPD. Economic indexes predict net profit by weighing the EPD for economically relevant traits coupled with economic estimates. To compete with other protein sources, it is imperative that the beef industry adopts the best science and technology to make better breeding selection decisions.

Diamond H Ranch Production Sale | March 28, 2018 | 12:30pm
Commercial Heifer Groups The Commercial Heifer Groups have all been calf hooded and palpated. The majority of the females come from a selected group off of C&W Ranch. C&W Ranch is a Commercial Red Angus and Red SimAngus operation located in Smolan, KS. These heifers represent the top 60% of their 2018 calf crop. Many of these heifers carry Simmental in their pedigrees, but nothing past 1/2 AR x 1/2 SM. The use of cross bred females in the commercial cow/calf operation can be a very profitable scenario as we see continued longevity and reproductive efficiencies from these cattle. They do not miss on the performance side of things either. These heifers have been grouped by weight and frame scores, which were taken on 1/30/2019. They will be sold as groups of five. If buyers take all five, they can purchase the next group of five for the same price. Buyer will not be allowed to sort through the group; they must take all five. These heifers are guaranteed open and with a viable reproductive tract.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Terms — Terms of sale are cash unless other satisfactory arrangements have been made. Bidding — All animals sell to the highest bidder. The auctioneer will settle disputes or challenges regarding bids and his decision will be final. Announcements — Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the information printed in this catalog. Purchaser’s Risk and Insurance — Each animal becomes the risk of the buyer as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that the animals are well cared for until possession exchange occurs. Exchange of animal(s) must be made within two weeks of the day of the sale. Insurance of purchase(s) is not provided, but is recommended as transportation is at the risk of the buyer. Options and Privileges of Return or Adjustments — All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing within six months of the sale date or no later than six months after the animal reaches 12 months of age. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if in good condition and complying with the health requirements of the seller’s stats. The seller shall be entitled to six months of trial after the animal is returned to prove that the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six months the seller is unable to prove that the animal is a breeder, the seller shall, at the option of the buyer, replace the animal with another of equal value or refund the purchase price. The return of the full purchase price shall in any case be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. Any expenses incurred shall be the seller’s responsibility if the animal is found to be a non-breeder.
Trucking — Transportation will be free within 100 miles of the ranch. Any distance over 100 miles shall be the responsibility of the buyer. Identification — Seller offers each animal with a readable tattoo corresponding to its registration. Health — Health assesments have taken place prior to the sale and the necessary health information will be provided based on the buyer’s needs and location. Breeding Soundness — All buyers will receive a Breeding Soundness Evaluation for each bull purchased. Certificate of Registry — All cattle have registration papers (unless otherwise stated) and these will be sent to the Association offices for transfer of ownership to take place. Seller’s Semen Rights — Diamond H Ranch reserves the right to retain 50% semen interest in bulls specifically identified as such in this catalog. This allows Diamond H Ranch to collect, use, and market semen from the bull and does not restrict the purchaser from doing the same. Any collection will be done at Diamond H Ranch’s expense and at the purchaser’s convenience. Rights and Obligations — The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on both. Animals resold following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the parties connected there are not covered by the above terms and conditions of this sale. Neither the owners, auctioneers, nor any other person connected with the management or conduct of this sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise, except as set forth.
