Cattlemen, As our 57th annual bull sale comes around, it gives us time to pause and reflect. 2025 marks another year of progress toward our goal of producing and marketing quality cattle that have been developed through multi-trait selection. Just as 2024 came to a close we welcomed our next DeJong, Boone Miles, to our family. Our family is buzzing with excitement to have Tina home for furlough for an extended stay for the next several months. Miles and Kim made the trip to Uganda to visit Tina for six weeks. A wonderful trip to see Tina and her team’s faithful work taking place in the hearts of Ugandan people. The Van Zandbergen family has been busy with many activities! Kylee loves breaking and riding her horse Smoke and started 7th grade in Winner this year. Kelli and Cooper are our resident ranch hands helping out riding horse, training Kenzie their border collie, and checking the ranch for chicken eggs. Kevin and Katrin represented South Dakota Farm Bureau in Washington D.C. and are busy with all the kids events from shooting sports to wrestling!

Our bulls are designed to be ready to work in almost any conditions as they have continually performed in the challenging terrain of south-central South Dakota. Hardiness and endurance have allowed us to produce bulls that are designed to work for many years.

In the 60 years of artificial insemination work coupled with 30 years of embryo transfer technology, DeJong Ranch has selected key breed traits to strive to produce and improve. We aim to provide quality stock that possess the ability to perform and make a profit. Livestock that convert to yield marketable pounds and be superior in terms of carcass merit has been a key goal. We hope you see our progress through our animals' EPD's and phenotype. We will share the results of scan data on our website leading up to the sale as well as have it available on March 6th. We are confident in the ability of these individuals to offer something for each producer. We hope that you will find the benefit of growth, carcass merit, maternal endurance, and calving vigor within these lots.

Terms and Conditions All bulls are free of known genetic defects by test or parentage.

We are retaining an in-herd semen interest on all bulls at sellers' expense and buyers' convenience.

All bulls are guaranteed breeders.

The 18-month-old bulls are fertility tested. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to have the yearling bulls fertility tested before they are turned out with the cows or before 15 months of age. The seller reserves the privilege to prove a bull is a breeder. If the bull fails to prove a breeder, the seller will either replace the bull with another of equal quality or give credit to the buyer at the next sale less any salvage value of the bull. In the event that a bull becomes permanently injured or dies within the first breeding season, if notified promptly, the seller shall allow credit to the buyer or one half the purchase price toward another bull less any salvage value.

“Royal” was purchased as a weanling in the 2021 Pitzer Ranch Fall Sale. Miles started him and we’ve used him gathering cows in the terrain of the White River breaks, pen riding, and pushing cows in the alley. Jeremiah Cole has started him in the roping pen. We couldn’t be more pleased with his progress and disposition.

Royal was recently measured and stands at 15.2 hh.
