BRED HERE, BORN HERE TO WORK HERE. We have been in the registered Angus business for 32 years and have five generations of ranchers behind each of us. Natives of Wyoming, we have an understanding about the type of cattle that can excel in the tough environment Wyoming is known for.
WE HAVE BEEN SELECTING HERD BULLS AND MOMMA COWS THAT ARE HIGH IN MATERNAL TRAITS AND HAVE DEVELOPED A PROGRAM KNOWN FOR IT. “A good bull is a byproduct of a remarkable cow.” We do not chase the next greatest or fads. We stay tried and true to breeding cattle that are maternal and we let the cattle prove themselves in our program in our environment.
WE DEVELOP OUR BULLS ON A HIGH PROTEIN, LOW-ENERGY PELLET AND LONG STEM GRASS HAY. We feel this enables our bulls to grow at a rate that will enhance their longevity. Feeding a lower energy diet also keeps their feet good, and the bulls will hold up better once they are turned out. Fat is pretty on a bull but can melt off quickly and cause fertility and longevity problems. Bulls should not be developed on a fat steer ration.
WE HAVE BEEN SCORING FEET, UDDER, AND DISPOSITIONS on our cattle for years. We rigorously cull our cattle to ensure good feet and legs, nice tidy udders, and calm dispositions.
WE GUARANTEE OUR BULLS, and we stand behind them. We collaborate with our customers to assure they are satisfied with the bulls they purchase. We want repeat customers and to achieve this we put customer satisfaction high on our list. A guarantee is only as good as who stands behind it.
We extend an invitation to our bull sale on February 13, 2026, in Buffalo, Wyoming. We will be offering a 125 head of PAP tested yearling angus bulls at the Buffalo Livestock Marketing sale barn. Join us for lunch at 11:00 and the sale starts at 1:00 PM MST.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Cattle will sell under the Standard Terms and Conditions as recommended by the American Angus Association.
RETAINED INTEREST: The breeder will be retaining a onethird revenue sharing interest in every bull selling in the sale. Full possession and salvage value sells on all bulls.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Scrotal measurements and weights of the bulls will be available before sale day. Announcements from the auction block take precedence over catalog information.
FERTILITY: The bulls will all be fertility tested by Dr. Allen Gotfredson, Flying A Animal Health, prior to delivery.
TRUCKING: Delivery of all bulls is free of charge in Wyoming and adjoining states. Bull deliveries will begin around March 15.
GENOMICALLY ENHANCED EPDS: The bulls have all been parent verified and EPDs are genomically enhanced. For full EPD

WINTERING: All bulls will be wintered free of charge until April 1, 2026 at Powder River Angus in Spotted Horse and delivery will take place from there. If you choose to leave your bulls past April 1st, feeding arrangements can be made at the buyers expense.
LIABILITY: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Powder River Angus and Buffalo Livestock Marketing assumes no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents which may occur.
GUARANTEE: Powder River Angus will guarantee their bulls 100% against injury due to breeding in a 60 day breeding season. Season ends September 1. Injury needs to be verified by a licensed veterinarian. Powder River Angus will either give credit to the buyer or replace injured bull(s). Death of bull by natural causes of lightning, drowning or hit on road can usually be covered by most ranch insurances. We strongly encourage you to visit with your Ranch Insurance agent. There are also companies that provide mortality insurance. We can assist you in finding this type of insurance if interested.
CALVING-EASE SCORES: Each bull in the sale has been assigned a calving ease score. This is our best estimate based on a number of factors including pedigree, birth weight and our knowledge of the sire and dam. 4-stars (****) designates a sleep-all-night heifer bull. 2-3 star bulls would work on larger framed heifers and 1-star designates a cow bull. All buyers should take into account their own program when considering these recommendations. Please talk to us prior to the sale if you have questions about the scores.
HERD HEALTH: All cattle sell with proper health papers for interstate shipment. A rigid herd health program is followed. All cattle have been calf hood vaccinated with 7-way Somnus at branding and at weaning along with IBR, BVD, BRSV, Pasturella and a Dectomax Pour On. Bulls also received two shots of Fusoguard to help protect against footrot.

We have retained ownership of our steer calves and the kill data we have received back on our steer calves tells us we are providing genetics that do well not only on the rail but also in feed efficiency. Our calves finish quickly which is very indicative of profitability. They also grade and yield extremely well. The pandemic caused our steers to have to be fed an additional 45 days. Our steers just kept gaining and had the frame and genetic ability to keep adding meat. They didn’t stall out and we had incredible grades of carcass.

Invest in a program with genetics geared toward the female!
FERTILE MYRTLES Let’s face it... she has to breed, or she is gone. Heifer developing is expensive and time consuming. Fertile females are necessary. For more than three decades, we have selected for highly fertile females. It is our number one criteria. We calve for 45 days after their AI dates. We cull cows and heifers that fall out of that time frame.
CALVING EASE We range calve our cows. We do not want calving difficulties. We have been selective in our bulls for decades and we rarely have any calving issues. We feel calving ease does not mean low birth weight. Calving ease is acquired through selecting proven bulls and bulls with a phenotype suited for easy calving. Small heads, long necks and spines, shoulders set in etc.
EASY KEEPING This can be a double-edged sword. We want our cows to keep their flesh but not at the expense of her calf. A fat cow with a bummy looking calf is not profitable. A cow in good condition, who produces a heavy calf, breeds back in time, and regains condition after weaning is a profitable cow.
HIGHLY EFFICIENT We live in Wyoming with an annual precipitation of 12-14 inches. With feed costs rising before our eyes, we must raise cattle that will do more on less. Our environment and breeding selections have allowed us to achieve a cow who excels in a multitude of environments.
CAN TRAVEL SOUNDNESS AND FOOT QUALITY. A huge problem in the Angus breed especially foot quality. We have actively been selecting and breeding for foot and soundness traits.
PERFORMANCE MINDED When we get right down to it, we need our cows to raise soggy, pound wielding calves. Through generations of breeding, we have selected for these girls. Our dams must reach a benchmark in several traits. We cull cows that are not achieving this benchmark. Our benchmark is probably higher than most commercial programs, but we feel it needs to be for us to provide the quality genetics our customers deserve.
ENVIRONMENT ALONE Through our environment, alone, we raise cattle with the traits that will supply an economical beef animal. With decades of breeding and choice of exceptional females we have developed a program that will put money in your pockets. The angus cow is the most beneficial and profitable cow out there. (In order to do that, we have to focus on the mama cow and develop bulls for fertility, longevity and soundness.)
We develop the bulls on free-choice long stem grass hay and a set amount of a high protein low energy pellet we purchase from Hubbard Feeds. The ration is designed for the bulls to gain 2.8 – 3.0 pounds a day. We feel at this rate the bulls can exhibit their genetic potential, but not at the expense of fertility, longevity and soundness. It is important to note the bulls do not layer on fat. They exhibit skeletal and muscular growth and will have a “hard” look to them not a, “ fat with all the holes pokedout look!” What you see is what you get. No surprises and no huge melt-off of fat as they go into the breeding season. Our customers report back about their bulls lasting well over 6 years Making their bull investment return a profit for years.
