EPDs should only be compared within each breed. EPD numbers differ greatly.

Buyer does own bull as of sale day and assumes all risk of injury or death. Mortality insurance will be available sale day.

Unable to Attend Sale Day If you are unable to attend sale, please contact any of the sale staff or register to bid online at www.dvauction.com All bulls selling for $4000 or more are guaranteed against breeding injury for the first breeding season. A breeding season is defined as the 90 day period following the first turn out of the bull. This is not an insurance policy. If the bull encounters a problem, proper treatment or vetcare is adviseable. If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided, or if the buyer prefers, 1/2 of the purchase price value will be applied towards another bull in the next year’s sale. Buyer keeps salvage value. Notifications must be made prior to or during the first breeding season.

Dear Friends, We want to invite you to our 18th annual bull sale. We appreciate your interest and business in past years and hope we can continue to bring you top quality breeding stock. We continue to strive to keep all traits balanced bringing you cattle that have calving ease, growth, maternal and carcass traits in one package.

By sale day we will mark our 25th spring of calving Angus cattle.

Our herd is a low maintenance herd. No one is around during the day to calve the cows. We check them in the moring before we go to work and then that night when we get home. We are pretty proud to say they take care of themselves.

We are very excited about the females that Sitz Top Game has brought to our herd. They are proving to be moderate, structually sound females with gorgeous utters. They are boasting an average WWR of 102.

Our bulls are developed on a high roughage diet out on pasture. We feel this is the most natural way to develop a fuctional set of bulls.

Two-thirds of these bulls will work on heifers.

Phone calls and visitors are always welcome at JMB Angus. We enjoy discussing our cattle, your cattle, and how we can work together in building quality herds.

If you sell your calves after weaning or backgrounding, the most important index to consider is $W. The higher the $W, the more potential you have for higher economic returns when selling calves at this time. $W is important for retaining replacement females—low birth, high growth, optimum milk, and an economical mature size are generally consid-ered favorable.

Weaned Calf Value ($W) is directed toward the cow-calf segment for preweaning production. $W, a bioeconomic value, represents a relationship between the revenue generated from genetically derived outputs and associated costs (expenses) from required inputs. The inclusion of calf weight and calf crop percentage to generate revenue along with cow maintenance and lactation expenses creates a “net revenue” value in the production segment of a cow-calf operation.

EPDs for birth weight, weaning weight direct, maternal milk and mature cow weight/height are utilized to generate the $W. In cases where mature cow size EPDs are absent or low accuracy, the association between yearling weight and height EPDs is used.

Lower birth weight EPDs are associated with revenue back to the cow-calf operation. Weaning direct growth and maternal milk generate revenue in pounds of calf, but each also contributes expenses. The calf has costs associated with his own maintenance and gain. As an additional adjustment to give $W dimension, mature cow size is handled strictly as an expense.

The answer is MaternalPlus.

MaternalPlus provides Angus breeders and their customers the information they need to make effective selection decisions. It’s a voluntary, inventory-based reporting system designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and, ultimately, expand reproductive and lifetime productivity tools.

By using MaternalPlus, producers will receive additional information at weaning processing time, including calving ease, birth weight and weaning weight EPDs for calves out of inventoried cows. In addition, MaternalPlus allows producers to submit cow disposal codes and reason designations, which keeps an accurate record of why a cow was culled.

Rains Simmental

A year has already passed and the 18th annual sale is here. This year Rains Simmental is offering 22 bulls and 15 heifers that are Simmental and SimAngus cross.

We are excited as Simmentals continue to grow in popularity due to proven trait leading qualities. Simmental and Sim/Angus are topping sales with their tremendous traits and market abitlity of yield grade, marbling, rib eye area, and growth. Cows are excellent mothers and have very long production cycles. Cows and bulls mature early and have fast growth rates.

We were fortunate to purchase some of LHR Angus’s top producing females with heifers calves at their side. These females have helped us add some top of the line 1/2 blood bulls and heifers by Upgrade, the most popular sire in the Simmental breed, to this year’s sale. We are also extremely excited to offer Longevity’s first progeny. We have sent 100 straws to ASA to be used in cooperating herds. The data collected from these herds will allow us to prove Longevity’s numbers and bring his accuracies to the top.

Our heifer offerings have been very well received in past years so we decided to offer yet another elite set of heifers. As we’ve said in past years we are not home much with our busy schedules so our cows are selected for good mamas and calving ease.

N Bar Cattle Company is a family run operation, this year marking our 40th year in

business. We own high quality Red Angus cattle, which are quickly rising in popularity as they are very maternal, easy keeping cattle with great carcass traits. We focus on raising females, yet very powerful bulls that are maternal powerhouses. We breed for cattle that are sound, functional, feed efficient, beef making machines that work in our environment. Our program cares more about quality cattle that work generation after generation rather than how they look on paper.

We calve later in the spring to avoid the cold and give the calves a better start. N Bar

Cattle Company will have 25 coming 2 year old virgin bulls. We have discovered that it is more efficient to sell coming 2 year old bulls rather than yearlings. They do better after their first year of breeding cows, and maintain themselves more efficiently.

Give yourself plenty of time to look through the bulls before the sale, there is a lot of quality cattle being offered so don’t miss out!
