Several years ago I was sitting with a group of breeders at the BHR sale and raised the idea of a Labor Day Sale in the Kansas City area. At the time all Fleckvieh sales were in the south and I felt we were missing an opportunity to show the Midwest what these cattle can do and how well they cross with all other breeds to improve weaning weights and mothering qualities. The Midwest Fleck Event is the culmination of this idea. Please join me and several progressive breeders in this inaugural event. The sale will be at the farm about 40 miles southwest of Kansas City downtown. It is conveniently located near I-35, I-49, 69, and 169 highways, as well as the Miami County Municipal airport. There is plenty of lodging in Kansas City if you want to stay after the sale and catch a show, concert, baseball game, or Worlds of Fun. If you want to stay more local to the sale facility there is a hotel in Paola (closer to 69, 169, and I-49 highways). If you are coming in on I-35 there are several options to choose from in Ottawa. As you know, we had a hard winter here and hay was scarce. With the cool temperatures in the spring grass was not growing either. These cattle have not been pampered, but they will not melt away when you take them home like some sale cattle. Add to that they were picture under extreme heat and dry lot conditions over a 5 day period. These cattle are certainly better than their pictures and will only get better and better. Please make plans to join us for cattle viewing and cocktails from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a light dinner at 5:00 p.m., and then the sale at 6:00 p.m.

I tried to buy this heifer’s dam at the Magnolia Classic several years back and Dan Skeels ran her up over $10,000 with the winning bid. I was however able to buy some embryos out of her and this is the resulting heifer out of Little Creek Xpress 840X. She sells bred to FSS Polled Hendrix, a homozygous polled Maximus son.

This heifer’s maternal grandam is a full sister to a cow I sold to Kenneth Airheart (Ole #7) and he can’t say enough good things about her. This heifer adds Orange River and G809 to her pedigree.
