This event will bring together both Million Dollar bucking bull owners and the nation’s best bull riders. This five day - double elimination tournament will require both bulls and riders to PROVE that they should be on TOP and with being the TOP RIDER AND BULL COMES MAJOR WINNINGS!

What you are watching today is a section of our exciting double elimination tournament that puts the SAM’S TOWN SUPERSTARS of bull riding against the PURINA MILLION DOLLAR BULLS. We are honored that the great Boyd Gaming property, Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, and Purina Cattle Nutrition have agreed to be major sponsors of this event.

This is an event that will have many twists and turns! In addition to the unique double elimination fans and bucking bull owners will have the chance to buy a bull rider daily and select the bull he gets on. 50% of your purchase price goes to help increase the rider payout that we are estimating to be a total of $50,000 ($20,000 to winner,) and 50% goes to the WINNER TAKES ALL fan/owner jackpot. That’s right, if you select the best match up for that day you could WIN BIG!!! The winner will be determined based on the bull score and rider time. There were several jackpots last year where the creator of the matchup walked away with $10,000 so get ready for some exciting fun!

The cowboys will be auctioned off daily. The minimum purchase price will be $500. If you are the high bidder you get to select the cowboy you want and the bull you want him to get on.

BUCKING BULLS (No Re-Bucks)

24 Purina sponsored bulls will take part in a unique and exciting competition that will conclude with the top 2 bulls going head-to-head in a bracket style tournament on the final DAY where one bull will be crowned the MDBBC World Champion, mature bull. All 24 bulls will buck 2 times over a 3 day period (December 6-8th) and each time the bull bucks he will receive a score from the judges and then the rider’s time will be added. After all bulls have gone two times, each bull will add both their scores together and eight bulls will advance to our semi-finals. The 4th day (December 11th) of our event will be the semi-finals where all eight bulls will get to buck again. Each bull will add his 3rd bull score and 3rd ride time to his current two trip score to give each bull a three trip cumulative score and two bulls will advance to our Top 2 showdown on December 13th at Mandalay Bay Cowboy Marketplace. The the top 2 bulls will go head-to-head and will be scored like the cowboys (must be ridden 3 or longer to receive a score) to determine the Champion and winner of $50,000. If both bulls end up with the same score then a tie will be broken by which bull had the best three bull cumulative score coming into the finals and if still a tie then the tie will be broken by a coin flip.

Bull Riders (No Re-Rides)

16 Sam’s Town Superstar Bull Riders will take part in a unique and exciting DOUBLE ELIMINATION tournament, where riders advance each round simply by beating the one rider they are matched up against.

In order to receive a score, each bull rider must ride 3 seconds or longer, then the rider’s score is determined by the bull score PLUS his ride time (Example: 87 point bull score + 3.56 time rider = 90.56.) If the rider stays on less than 3 seconds he will receive a 0 (zero). If both riders stay on less than 3 seconds the rider with the highest bull score advances. Although riding 8 seconds does get a rider additional points, it does not ensure victory over a rider who rides less than 8 seconds (Example: 88 + 4 beats 82 +8), so the riders want the better bulls. The tournament will last a total of 5 days. The first 3 days there will be several matchups of riders that will end up eliminating 18 of the 24 riders. During these first 3 days, the riders will be paid $250 anytime they make an 8 second qualified ride. There will not be any money paid for a qualified ride once we reach the semi-finals and the final two as all those riders will have plenty to ride for. The estimated payout to the Champion rider is $20,000.
