Dear Friends: I want to again personally invite everyone to our Bull & Female Sale and Appreciation Day at the farm on Saturday February 13, 2016. A lunch will be served starting at 11:30 with the sale to follow at 1:00. Again this year, instead of the cattle going thru a sale ring, a video of each lot will be shown with the cattle being penned close to the sale area for your inspection. You may view the cattle that morning or are welcome to come take a look at any time before the sale.

Carstens Farms Angus and Charolais – Quality And Performance It is a pleasure to be working with Dean and Melodee Carstens on their 29th Annual Performance-Tested Angus and Charolais Bull Sale. For cattlemen looking to add extra power and performance to their herd bull battery, this offering of bulls will feature some of the stoutest bulls to be found this spring. In addition to the bulls selling, there will also be a special group of yearling replacement females selling backed by the same proven genetics as the bulls.

The Angus bull offering will feature sons of Ellingson Scotsmen 0010, Ellingson Dominance 2079, Ellingson Ribeye 3195, Koupals Advance 28, SAV Resource 1441, Ellingson Identity 9104, Connealy Earnan 076E and there will also be an excellent set of Final Answer grandsons included - Superior performance traits that offer high growth without sacrificing calving ease traits. In all, there will be 30 Angus bulls that are stout and powerful being offered.

In addition to the Angus bull offering, there will be a select group of 10 Charolais bulls selling that are superb in their quality and backed by the proven AI sires, LT Blue Value 7903, and LT Ledger 0332. If you are looking for a set of bulls that combine proven performance genetics with a phenotype that expresses true muscle dimension and power, then I would invite you to study this set of bulls as I believe the quality to be the best ever offered from the Carstens program.

A special highlight this year will be the opportunity to select from 15 yearling and 5 bred replacement females that will be a welcome addition to any progressive program. These heifers are sired by the same proven performance sires as the bulls listed above and are the right kind to make top replacements. The breeding program at Carstens Angus has always been based on sound, functional, maternal power that does not sacrifice performance so I feel confident that these females will work in any environment and in any progressive program.

The sale will be held at their farm for the second year in a row and will be conducted by video, the same as last year. All of the bulls will be on display around the barn prior to the sale beginning and the video footage will show on a large screen while the auction is being conducted. Remember that this year’s sale is being held on a new date - Saturday, February 13, 2016, and will be an event you do not want to miss. The bulls selling will add pounds of red meat and profitability to your calf crop and the females selling are the keeping kind.

Terms of the sale are cash or check payable immediately upon conclusion of the sale and before the animals are moved. Cattle will sell under the standard terms and conditions as recommended by the American Angus Association.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE:

Carstens Farms, Ltd. assume no liability for accidents or injuries that occur on the sale premises. It is recommended that buyers insure their purchases. The purchaser assumes the risk of death or injury to their livestock immediately after the purchase.

BREEDING GUARANTEE:

To the best of our knowledge all Angus bulls selling are geneticdefect free either by pedigree or test. Carstens Farms guarantees all bulls sold are fertile and sound breeders. If a bull is proven to not be a breeder, he may be returned if healthy and in adequate condition. The buyer may select a suitable replacement or receive credit at the next sale for the purchase price minus any salvage

value. At no time is Carstens Farms Ltd liable for more than the bull’s purchase price.

BULL CARE AND TRUCKING ARRANGEMENTS:

We believe that it is much better for you to take your bulls home sale day or shortly after. This allows the bulls to become acclimated to their new environment and new owners. A $150 per bull deduction will be subtracted from the price of all bulls taken home sale day. As a service to you, we will winter the bulls left at the farm free of charge until May 15, 2016. They will be semen checked and ready to be picked up by then. After the bulls are sold, they are your property and responsibility. We recommend mortality insurance for your bulls.

We ask that the heifers be moved as soon as possible.
