Rock Creek Ranch - 2014 Private Treaty Spring Bull Sale

Dear Cattle Producers, This letter may be written a little bit differently this year, That is because I am not my dad. After a week (in which I thought he was joking with me), I finally realized my dad was serious about me writing the cover letter for our bull customers. After some deliberation, I gave in and realized I might be just as fit to address our buyers this year as my father.

I spent the whole summer working alongside my dad and my grandparents at the ranch. I learned a lot of valuable lessons, like how to wring my hands and look concerned when the tractor was broken down, and how to say “oh, nothing” when someone mumbled under their breath.

I have quite a few good memories from working on the ranch this summer. We hosted the Kansas Simmental Association tour and an ABS Tour. While it was wet and muddy, we couldn’t complain and the guests all seemed to enjoy themselves.

The ABS Tour consisted of a group of Brazilian cattle breeders who were looking at different breeding options for their herds. Rock Creek Ranch was honored to show off some of our best Simmental genetics to the group.

This year we will be selling the bulls private treaty for your convenience. As I was putting together the catalog, I could feel the excitement through the EPD’s, pedigrees, and footnotes my dad has written for all of you. This is a great group of bulls and I hope all of you might have the chance to come and check them out. My dad has joked that this will be the first year buyers will request to have their bull’s name changed! While my dad got to name the powerful front runners of the group, I got to name the rest of the herd. It is actually quite difficult to come up with this many “A” names, but baby web sites were a great help!

I really do hope that everyone will find what they are looking for in this great group of bulls the ranch is offering this spring. Ultrasound data will be published on the web site as soon as the test results are back. Any pictures taken of the bulls will be found on the web site too.
