Trucking We will deliver bulls free of charge up to 300 miles. After 300 miles, standard trucking rates will apply. If the buyer is unable to take their purchase on sale day, we will board the bulls free of charge until April 1. A $100 discount will be given for any bull taken home sale day.

The cattle business is the people business, and we enjoy building new relationships as well as growing old ones through seedstock cattle. Our first and highest priority when making selection decisions is on making better momma cows. If we didn't feel that these bulls’ daughters are going to elevate their respective destination herds, they would not be offered. It is the cow family behind the bull that separates the average from the best. We have continued to build a breeding program based around some of the most proven maternal genetics that North America has to offer. We don’t get caught up in fads and chasing new bloodlines endlessly, because we know that the great female makers are normally dead and gone before their value is truly understood.

As breeders, our aim is not to try to out think the rest of the industry and strike it big, rather to build genetic consistency for ourselves and commercial customers.

Here’s some of the things we believe in strongly, and others are just lessons that have been learned the hard way: • Way too many producers are emphasizing production at all costs, when we should be looking at ways to cut costs and maintain an optimal level of production.

• It costs just as much if not more to keep a bad one around than it does a good one.

• Often times your first loss is your cheapest, and problem cattle almost always make more problems.

• Appropriate size matters, but more importantly muscle, rib shape, and fleshing ability are key indicators of the profitable kind.

• There’s good big cattle, and bad small, but on the average the bigger we make them the less efficient they are and less likely to thrive in low input environments.

• Muscle weighs more than fat and we sell cattle by the pound.

• Without the ability to flesh easily on grazed forages cattle will never have built in fertility.

• Numbers don’t mean anything without fertility, and you can’t have longevity without functional feet and udder structure.

• We never trim feet, and even on herdsires promptly culled if they need it.

• If you can’t be completely honest about the cattle you represent, the cattle business just isn’t that much fun. How we treat our customers and fellow producers is what we want to be defined by.

EPDs are a proven tool that we use in our program, but they are not the focal point of the selection process. In our search for superior genetics, we have found that there tends to be a discrepancy in many mainstream bloodlines with breed leading EPD values, and real world functionality. Many times, genetic selection decisions tend to be made on the computer playing with numbers rather than using visual appraisal and common sense. At the end of the day, there are plenty of high numbered red angus cattle out there that don't have the physical attributes to either be as good as their numbers suggest, or to plain work at all in a non forgiving production environment.

Our aim is to raise bulls that may not be the extreme from an EPD profile standpoint, but are balanced in their numbers, individual performance, and have ample rib shape and muscle, while also improving feet and udder structure in their daughters. We realize that this may seem unrealistic to some, but that is our goal as breeders to identify the cattle that can consistently do this, and ultimately help to improve both ours and our customer's bottom line.

Aside from infertility, all other guarantees will be made through insurance only. For customers who choose to insure their bulls on sale day, York Creek Red Angus will pay 50% of the policy premium for Options 1-3, or up to 6.25% for Option 4 listed on the following insurance page. Insurance representatives will be present at the sale to insure purchases in person and over the phone. There is free delivery within 300 miles, and free boarding until April 1. We will still be offering a $100 cash discount to anyone wanting to take his or her bull home directly after the sale.

TERMS: Terms of the sale are cash, check, or other terms agreed to in writing between seller, buyer, and sale manager payable immediately upon conclusion of the sale before animals will be moved. Sale Manager reserves the right to require a certified check as settlement before releasing any cattle. Buyer hereby grants to Seller/Sale Manager a security interest in the livestock purchased to secure the payment of the purchase price, and Buyer further authorizes Seller/Sale Manager to file any necessary documents with any Secretary of State or other governmental entity necessary to perfect such security interest.

ANNOUNCMENTS: Any errors or changes in information contained in the catalog will be announced from the block and such announcements shall take precedence over the information contained herein.

BIDDING: Any disputes or challenges regarding bids or tie bids will be settled by the Auctioneer and the decision will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK: All animals are the owner’s risk prior to their sale and become property of the purchaser as soon as declared sold by the auctioneer.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A certificate of registry for each animal will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense.

FROZEN LOTS: Buyer is to pay for all shipping and handling of embryos and/or semen. Embryos and/or semen will be shipped COD or a separate account established at the storage facility within 30 days of sufficient payment unless other arrangements are made with Sale Manager and/or Seller.

HEALTH: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment. Interstate health papers prepared by an accredited veterinarian will be furnished on each animal sold. Arrangements for International Shipment should be made with the Sale Manager prior to the auction. All efforts for the exportation of cattle can be arranged through the Sale Manager.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: All animals are guaranteed by the seller as outlined in the Suggested Sale Terms of the Red Angus Association of America including but not limited to points 8 and 10.

LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, auction facility, and sale manager assume no liability for any accidents that may occur. Neither does the seller, auction facility, or sale manager assume liability for the loss or injury to livestock due to theft, mysterious disappearance, sickness, improper handling or Act of God. It is to be clearly understood that the sale manager and its representatives act only as a medium between the buyer and the seller. Last year’s group of Foreigners definitely made a splash, but what was so exciting for us was that we knew this upcoming group of sons being offered was going to be as genetically cutting edge as any before. Without a doubt, Foreigner E127, is proving to have as much a profound impact on our program as any herdsire to date because he can truly fix many deficiencies in one generation. Real muscle, real fleshing ability, breed leading calving ease, and best of all the foot structure to truly stand the test of time. On top of all that he will consistently breed 50 plus females twice a year, and displays the masculinity and sexual correctness that many bloodlines have lost over the recent decades despite all the “improvements” being made in the cattle industry.

Our Lot 1 bull this year, Kaiser K66, combines as many of the most influential breeding pieces in our program as any bull offered before, with numerous high sellers stemming from both sides of the pedigree. He is a flat 5 frame bull with that typical Foreigner muscle shape that is almost impossible to put into a calving ease prospect. I can’t say enough about this young herdsire’s female making potential. I don’t have a lot of Right Kind x 9X’s, but every single one has about as perfect an udder as you can make.

I personally can’t wait to see the daughters of this guy and I think this bull can raise the bar on even the nicest sets of cows anywhere. K21 is the first in a set of ET partnership bulls with C-Bar Ranch in Kansas. There've been a lot of Franchise’s to sell in the last few years, but I’ve not seen many with the kind of presence and mass this guy exhibits. Breed leading calving ease coupled with the probability of siring really high end daughters with that extra look should make this guy pretty high on a lot of lists. With Genex now having a stake in Collusion 115F, expect the popularity to take off over the next few years. Lacy’s Red Angus in Missouri is known for excellent maternal cattle with some added heat and fescue tolerance, and I’d expect these Collusions to be the same way.

These ET sibs trace back to the female making legend, CCF Goldbar 025, and this particular individual screams female maker to me. He’s a bit longer and smoother patterned than the other Collusions and you can’t help but notice how massive his center body is. His recip dam is going to be 15 this year and I’d say he performed exceptionally despite her age. He should work on more intensively managed heifers.

A lot of look and presence in this ET Foreigner son. Of all the bulls in the sale, he might have the best toe spacing and foot design of any. The donor dam of these two ET sibs, W936, was a heifer with short ears buried in the back of Steve Maier’s first female sale, and she has probably been one our best investments ever made. Her sons are consistently the stoutest in the offering, oftentimes being the heaviest bulls by almost 100 lbs at yearling time. There always seems to be a Cinderella story in every offering and here’s ours for this year. Lot 42 was one of the most impressive bulls on the place after calving, but his mother died shortly thereafter and he roughed it through the fall and winter all on his own. He gets better every day, and I’d look for him to be the steal of the sale. He’s a full sib to our herdsire, D12, the previous bull’s sire and Ranger D16 the 2017 Houston Livestock Show grand champion bull we raised.

Commercial Replacements We will again this year be offering commercial replacements from the heart of our program as well as some of our top notch customers. There will be a supplement sheet on sale day with the exact number of replacements from York Creek Red Angus. They have been roughing it on cornstalks with just protein supplement for the last 120 days, and will come straight off for the sale. They are all purebred Red Angus heifers, some even being ET daughters, but will not be selling with any papers. They will have had their pre breeding shots and wormed on top of our standard vaccination program prior to the sale.

Lots 50-59: 10 Commercial Red Angus Heifers from Larry Ratashak of Thurman, IA Larry was one of our very first customers in the red angus bull business, and he has proven to be one of our best. He always finds the really good ones, and I have grown to appreciate his input as much as anyone. Larry has quite the herd of reputation red angus females in Southwest Iowa. In addition to the green tag vaccination program, the heifers will come with bangs vaccinations, pre breeding shots, and wormed.

Lots 60-89: 30 Commercial Red Angus Heifers from Dan Kahlandt of Tekamah, NE Kahlandts are large operators in some pretty rough country in the Missouri River bluffs north of Tekamah. They have been buying bulls from us for about as long as we have been in business, and we really appreciate the continued support. Some of the best bulls we have sold are running on the place. Dan has always been one not to cut corners, and his attention to detail shows in their multi generation cowherd. In addition to a solid calf vaccination program, the heifers will all have their pre-breeding shots, bangs vaccinations, and wormed prior to the sale.
