Welcome

to our eithth Burlap and Barbed Wire female sale. On behalf of our sale partners, Burgman Farms and Klein Ranch, we welcome you to the sale and we are excited to bring you this offering. These females represent the top cut from our individual herds and are sound, functional, profitable females that know how to work for a living.

Because of our unwavering belief in selection for proven maternal traits without regard to the current popular bulls, you will find pedigrees at this sale which are complete outcross to many of the most popular lines of bulls. The mating flexibility provided by these outcross genetic packages presents a tremendous opportunity.

Whether you are looking for your next donor, a junior project, or just an honest, hard working female for your herd, take a good look at this offering and plan to be with us on Monday, Oct. 13th. If you can’t be with us on Monday, feel free to contact any of the breeders or sale staff, and we will assist you in whatever way possible.

- the B & B Sale

Join us for a great evening before the sale!

We would love to have you join us on Sunday Evening, October 12th, for good meal, great conversation, and a chance to connect before sale day.

As a thank you for spending the evening with us, those who register for a bidder number during the Sunday gathering will be eligible for $100 off per lot on up to two lots purchased sale day (a potential $200 discount).

We hope to see you there!

LOT 1A - 1D | Choice Lot - Selling two

We couldn’t decide which two to sell, so we are letting you pick. Whichever two we are left with, one will make her way to the donor pen. The 7729 cow has been our cornerstone Angus donor and everything she produces has been money in the bank – both bulls and females. This group of females inherited 7729’s impeccable udder and docility. This mating with Stone Cold can move your SimAngus program forward. Also note that Stone Cold is now deceased so semen is limited. Don’t miss your opportunity to add his genetics to your herd.

Lot 2’s dam is one of the best Xpectation daughters we have produced. (Xpectation is known for producing elite females) This Cardinal daughter has been a standout since day one. If we didn’t have a full sister, Lot 2 would not be offered for sale. L183 deserves to be in someone’s donor program. A full brother to Lot 2 was this year’s high selling red bull.

Hofmann Simmental Farms is retaining a flush on this female with at least 6 embryos and an open top, at the seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.

42A, donor dam of Lot 8, is one of our most prolific donors – she stamps all of her calves with depth and width. Top 4% Stay and her Charger calf should be even higher on Stay. Incredible overall EPD profile. L303 is a good candidate for your red program.

A note about registration transfers on fall pairs:

As participants in ASA’s Calf Crop Genomics program, we will be collecting DNA samples on all the pair calves and will submit those after the sale. After the completion of all DNA testing (which can take 4-6 weeks from the time the lab receives samples), we will transfer the pairs to the buyers. Therefore, you can expect a bit of a delay in receiving your registration papers on pairs. As part of the DNA testing, we will test (at our expense) for color and polled on any calves that could be hetero black or hetero polled by pedigree, so that you will have that information.

LOT 56A - 56D | Choice Lot - Selling any two

Lots 56A/56B - sired by LRS Dutton | Lots 56C/56D - sired by KBHR Gunsmoke

When selecting females for this year’s sale, we knew we wanted to offer the very best from our program, and we believe these four heifers represent just that. They will be sold as choice of any 2. These heifers are direct daughters of our exceptional donor, Bridle Bit G9107 (pictured as a yearling), which we own in partnership with ALL Beef. G9107 is a full sister to Bridle Bit Resource, and she has proven to be one of the most valuable cows we’ve ever owned.

G9107 is the complete package — her phenotype and genotype are second to none. She has delivered some of the best offspring we’ve raised, and these daughters are the next step in her line.

The Dutton daughters bring more power and a striking phenotype, while the Gunsmoke daughters are more soft-made and maternally oriented.

This year marked G9107’s first crop of offspring, and they generated over $100,000 right out of the gate, with high sellers at Eichacker Simmentals and Klein Ranch Heart of the Herd. She’s a producer with a future full of high-potential progeny. A great opportunity to add a female of this caliber to your herd — these heifers are a rare opportunity to build on a proven, elite genetic foundation.

Klein MS N038 is a direct daughter of our proven donor, TJ Miss 990E. This super attractive, long-bodied heifer comes from one of the most highly maternal cow families in our program. We have high expectations for N038, as she carries the same quality and consistency that has made her dam so successful. With her combination of phenotype and strong maternal traits, this heifer is poised to make a big impact in any program

Dam is an ET full sister to Lot 54. Don’t let her young age deter you, as she’s the right kind: feminine, smooth, and wedge shaped. She has an incredible EPD profile. Her long, narrow head and smooth shoulders are consistent with her direct and maternal CE EPDs. GE EPDs expected by sale time.

Hofmann Simmental Farms (Rodney & Kim) began in 1979 when Rodney first started raising Simmentals. Our program, which is predominately AI and ET, is based upon using proven AI sires with particular emphasis placed on calving ease and maternal traits. Optimum growth and disposition are also given high priority. To us, good beef cattle are cattle that do their job, regard-

In addition to selling bulls, we have marketed our feeder cattle through Superior Livestock and have sold finished cattle on a value grid basis. shifted how we market our cattle. We now primarily sell spring calves off the cow at weaning in early September. Due to this change, we do not collect weaning weights since we no longer run the entire herd through the chutes. Please do not let this dissuade you, as our calves still perform and offer the same solid genetic material as before.
