Dear Cattlemen, We would like to personally invite you to the 17th Annual Parry Angus “Lotta Bull Sale”. 2014 was quite a year in agriculture.

Depending on where you are located, we saw abnormal amounts of rain that were either a blessing or a curse. While the rain helped the ever dreaded hail storm. Coupled with the weather were unprecedented cattle prices. It was nice to see ranchers be able to take advantage of outstanding cattle markets. a balance of traits that represents the focus of our genetic selection.

Performance traits such as growth, muscle and carcass merit are important to both ourselves as well as our customers, but so are functional traits such as maternal ability, disposition and soundness. We keep this in mind when we select our sires and replacement females each year and continue to strive to improve our genetic base.

As a result, these bulls possess a “balance” of traits that we believe makes them complete. It is this balance of traits will excel more in certain areas than others. So, we encourage you to drop by at any time and view the bulls. We We are trying an exciting new sale format and will be having the sale at our ranch this year. Bulls have been given a complete soundness and fertility examination by Dr. Mike Coakley, DVM. All bulls are AM, CA, and NH free by test or by pedigree.

BULL WINTERING PROGRAM

If the buyer desires, Parry Angus will care for and feed the bulls until April 1st at no charge. A feed charge of $2.50 per head per day will apply after that date.

FERTILITY AND BREEDING SOUNDNESS GUARANTEE All bulls sold by Parry Angus are guaranteed breeders at the time of turnout. bulls believed to be non-breeders may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense and another bull, if available, will be provided. if such bull is not suited or needed, Parry Angus will give the buyer full credit on next year’s sale.

FIRST SEASON BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE All bulls selling for $3000 or more will be covered 50% by Parry Angus if They are injured during their first breeding season and are not able to return to service during that first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following first turnout of bulls. 50% of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half salvage value will be split equally between Parry Angus and the buyer. All bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to th injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2015.

Parry Angus does not cover mortality.

VOLUME DISCOUNTS

Customers who purchase 3 bulls will receive a 3% discount, 4 bulls a 4% discount, and 5 or more bulls a 5% discount. Customers who haul their bulls home on sale day will receive a $50.00 discount.

FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS

A complimentary lunch will be served and refreshments will be provided starting at 11:00 on sale day.

Our Philosophy -

When Parry Angus began, we knew we had to have a goal for our breeding program. What was our vision for the herd? The conclusion we came to is “balance.” These bulls are bred to carry a balance of traits.

Many producers will attempt to chase the latest trend in the industry or single trait select to achieve a goal in their herd. But usually this comes at the expense of other traits that make up the “balance” or completeness of cattle that allow them to excel. Truly great cattle will have all of the pieces needed to be exceptional. This is how we approach our breeding program. We breed our cows with the intention of producing great females. After all, females are the base of our herd and every set of bulls that we produce every year. Without great females, Parry Angus would cease to exist. Because we breed for great females with balance in mind, we also get bulls with a balance of traits. That gives them the flexibility to meet the need of nearly every producer.

Carcass MeritFor those of you concerned about “value-added” or even directly profitable traits, we would like you to take a look at our carcass data. The breed average according to the American Angus Association of all bulls scanned is 12.48 square inches for Rib-eye Area (REA) and 3.78% for Percent Intramuscular Fat (%IMF). This year our bulls scanned 14.3 square inches for REA and 4.11% for %IMF. This is considerably higher than the breed average. The Parry Angus bull with the smallest REA scanned 11.7 square inches and the largest was at an impressive 17.4 square inches. These numbers are important because REA is a direct indicator of muscle in cattle and also affects both Yield Grade and Quality Grade in cattle at slaughter. %IMF also directly affects Quality Grade. A higher %IMF will help cattle reach a higher QG or qualify for branded programs such as CAB. Muscle is also the most easily identifiable trait for buyers to pick out and heavier muscled cattle will both look better and weigh more, so they tend to sell higher when taken to market.
