Welcome to the Michigan Simmental Breeders Directory

From the President

Thank you for your interest and support of the Michigan Simmental breeders that are listed throughout this directory. Simmental genetics have gained more popularity and value in recent years, in both Michigan and across the country. Simmental cattle are now known for traits of carcass merit, balanced frame scores and moderated birth weights without sacrificing growth and performance traits needed by seedstock producers and commercial cattlemen.

The Michigan Simmental Association promotes two sales in Michigan; the Michigan Beef Expo in April and the Fall Sale held in conjunction with the Michigan Angus Association. The Beef Expo is a good time to offer fancy open and bred heifers, along with yearling bulls.

The Fall Sale has proven to be a great opportunity to market cow-calf pairs, bred or open heifers. This sale has been very successful the past few years.

Within the Michigan board we support the MCA/MSU Bull Evaluation. We also host a field day in August in conjunction with our Annual Meeting, which is open to all members. This event travels to different locations every year. It is held on member’s farms and ranches, showcasing different management styles and marketing strategies. The MSA supports many youth activities. We are currently working on revitalizing the junior program. The board recognizes junior members are the future of our organization. If you would be willing to help increase our youth involvement please contact me.
