Who we are ...

We would like to welcome you to the Texhoma Oklahoma Livestock Exchange for our 2nd Annual “Build the Shield” Production Sale!

Shieldknight Land and Cattle is a commercial and seedstock producing farm and ranch located in Spearman, Texas. Our farming and ranching heritage is built around five generations dating back to 1923. SLAC primarily started out as a stocker operation but worked our way into cow-calf production in the early 90s.

Our herd at that time was primarily Simmental and Black Angus genetics. Due to the drought in 2010, we had to disperse our entire cowherd and build back once the grass was good again. After extensive research on maternal cattle, we believed there was no better breed to build back with than Red Angus.

We began our journey with the Red Angus breed back in 2011 when we bought our first-ever foundation registered and commercial females. Our path in the Red Angus breed has seen us develop bulls for Leachman Cattle of Colorado, the R.A. Brown Ranch, and recently with B&L Red Angus. Through their knowledge and experience we have grown in size and scope and believed it was time to “Build the Shield!”

Our goal here at SLAC is to build good, functional cattle that can perform in any environment. Cattle are developed on so many different grasses and feed that they are well balanced when they leave our place to yours. Our cattle are exposed to blue stem, ryegrass, wheat, orchardgrass, endophyte-free fescue, blue grama, side oats, buffalo, bermuda, corn, oats and much more.

Health Testing and Papers:

Health papers will be available for all bulls leaving Oklahoma. If you live in a state that requires additional testing, this will be done onsite after the sale.

Fertility Testing:

All bulls were tested and have passed a BSE by Hansford County Vet Hospital

Breeding Guarantee:

All bulls are guaranteed through the first breeding season.

If a fertility or breeding issue occurs, we require that you notify us. In that event a replacement bull of similar value will be provided, if available, or a credit given for future purchase. Credit will be for purchase price minus salvage value. We also reserve the right to have the animal seen by a vet of our choice. This does not include coverage for death.

Terms & Conditions

Semen Interest:

Seller will be retaining 50% semen interest in all bulls selling. Buyer will have full possession.

Sale Terms and Conditions:

All sales are cash or check to the clerk at conclusion of sale, unless otherwise arranged. Cattle will be paid for in full before loading or delivered.Cattle will sell under the terms and conditions as recommended by the Red Angus Association of America. The auctioneer will settle any disputes on bids and his decision is final.

Delivery:

Any bull purchased over $20,000 will be delivered for free.

Any combination of bulls that total $20,000 purchased by the same buyer will also be delivered for free. All other deliveries will be done at a fair cost to the buyer.

Announcements:

Announcements made from the block on sale day take precedence over printed material in the catalog or otherwise.

Sale Terms and Conditions:

Except for those stated below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees are set forth in the Terms and Conditions are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the purchaser or any party claiming through purchaser, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities.

Terms:

Terms of the sale are cash or check to the clerk at the conclusion and othe auction. Animals are not to leave until paid for in full.

Bidding:

Each animal will be sold the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes to the bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.

Purchaser Risk:

Each animal will be at the Purchaser’s risk as soon as sold. Animals will be fed and cared for free of charge to purchaser, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of (72) hours after the sale for animals being picked up by the Purchaser. After that, there will be a per day feed cost added to the purchase price, payable before possession occurs.

Liability:

All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, the sale manager, and its employees, cooperators, consignors and all other persons connected with the management of the sale, assume no responsibility, liability, legal or otherwise.

What a way to start of the sale with this deep rascal. Not very often do you see a leadoff bull out of a first-calf heifer, but his mother, F829 brings us a powerhouse for her first calf. He has 11 traits in the top 25% of the breed. He scanned an actual 6.52 on IMF and a 12.8 ribeye at over an inch per 100. Think about the high quality meat this guy will put into your calf crop. A 15 CED to a 115 YW, the calves will hit the ground running and pound the scales leaving.

We love the phenotype on this bull so much we nearly put him as the leadoff.

H0159 is another Authority son out of a first-calf heifer, F806 (101 MPPA). These Profitbuilder daughters bred back to Authority just flat out works. 9 traits in the to 25% of the breed. This bull killed his IMF scan. A 7.01 IMF!!! That is PRIME TIME!! His Gridmaster is 83 and in the top 1% for Red Angus. Inject this guy into your heifer program with his 16 CED and watch those calves flat get it done on the rail.

Who made this sale order? H0117 a Brunswick son that is way too low in the sale order. If you missed lot 1 or 2, look right here. His mother, a Deniro daughter has a MPPA of 102. This bull scanned a huge actual 6.48 IMF (ratio 119) and a 14.6” ribeye (ratio 119). He’s a 16 CED heifer bull and a top 1% ProS of 169!!! 12 traits in the top 25% of the breed too!!!

Look here boys, SLAC Authority H0163 is the highest $Profit bull in the sale at $20,416. It’s rare air, not very many Red Angus bulls are that high. He’s out of Slac Ms Oracle F814 (MPPA 102), another first-calf heifer who wouldn’t be denied putting a bull in the sale. A 17 CED bull who can cover heifers and inject some unreal carcass merit into those calves. Actual 5.35 IMF scan to a WHOPPING 15.2” ribeye!!!!
