It hardly seems real that it is already time to be writing a welcome letter for our 2023 Bred female sale. In all honesty I’m extremely thankful to be in the position to even be having a sale with all that the past year has thrown at Ruda Cattle.

Between some on going family issues and a once in a lifetime weather event this summer there was more than once we thought this sale wouldn’t be possible. This past July we endured a perfect storm of heat and humidity that lead to the loss of several thousand head of cattle in our area. We were luckier than some but when it was all said and done we lost six head and 16 pregnancies out of our bred heifers, most of which were slated to be on this sale. With that in mind we had to dig a little deeper this year into ones that might not normally make this sale.

Enough with the bad and the ugly, lets get to the good. We would like to thank you for your interest in this set of heifers. I truly believe that there is something for everyone no matter what your goals are in the cattle industry. There is everything from future donors to functional commercial replacements and everything in between. If you have any questions or if we can assist you in any way don’t hesitate to give us a call. Note: you can see in her video she has two small abscesses, they have been checked by our vet and they have no infection, just scar tissue from likely getting knocked into the corner of the feed bunk. Retaining the right to two successful flushes.

She performed her first job to a high level being named champion Simmental heifer at the 2020 Nebraska State Fair. Lot 2 didn’t take the greatest picture, mainly due to someone’s below average clip job, (mine). Study her video and see she offers a lot of good in a baldy, SAM sired package.

He was our selection from Kearns Cattle Company in 2021 and we could not be more pleased with how he has worked for us. Not only is he sired by the legendary Profit but he is a son of the great KCC1 Havana 83E, making him a maternal brother to the $230,000 Countertime. This is our first set of these Prodigy daughters but it sure won’t be the last. They are flat good.

I’m not sure if there is another bull in the cattle industry right now with the same hype and popularity as Something About Mary. These next two heifers are a good representation of why. Lot 23 is unique in her head, neck and shoulder and she combines that into an awfully high quality look from the side.

Her mother stems from the great Partisover program in Georgia and just so happens to be the grandmother to lot 20. Great cow families always seem to get it done.
