Welcome to the tenth annual Bull and female production sale It’s been an over abundance of blessing you allowing us to breed and develop Simmental/ SimAngus genetics! We are very appreciative of your support the last ten years and will be striving to continue the journey as we continue to grow our family and the herd Our family was blessed to receive our first grand child this past summer, Hannah had a little boy Weaver Ryan Joseph Tharp was born this past June He’s sure been fun to watch and sit for Grandma Liz . Haven our middle daughter was just recently engaged this past fall and also just graduated from PCI Started in December as a full time hair dresser and cosmetologist Houstin is graduating this spring and is very excited to pursue his calf roping, as he will attend Iowa Central Many exciting things in store for our family here in coming months . Tyler’s family is just starting to really get involved in sports, hunting , fishing and social activities His kids are really starting to be a big help around the farm Dad is still hanging in there, as he’s going on 3 years in the nursing home
What a ride this past year has been for the cattlemen! Record prices and demand from the consumer has set up the most profitable year to date While numbers are still depleting and an aging farmer our supplies should continue to fall below supply levels This means a world of opportunity to acquire top end genetically driven, cattlemen bred genetics . Our cattle represented in this offering will be from our top end donors while utilizing IVF to multiple several ET progeny that should excel in maternal and paternal traits that lead the country in all EPDs across the indexes All cattle will be Genomically enhanced EPDS All cattle be tested for homo polled and homo black Assuring you get exactly what your breeding needs are . This set of cattle are a representation of what we feel are the forefront of the genetic progress the consumer and the feed lots are wanting An animal bred with the cattlemen’s prospective for profitable, high end performance cattle to capture the ever ready marketplace The Simmental Association just went thru a new evaluation for CE,B .W, and MCE . This evaluation hadn’t been done for over 12 years The breed avg dropped all progeny 2 points from past EPDS that you all are familiar with This evaluation shows that the breed has more BW than before It’s a challenge that many didn’t expect, but the cattle in the offering haven’t changed we feel as confident as ever that every bull in this sale will calve just fine to mature cows With that being said, we recommend CE bulls to be at least 12 to be suitable for heifers I’m sure I will field many questions and that’s to be expected We will do our very best to assure you get the right bull for your program This set of opens and breds are the very best we’ve offered allowing you to purchase females from our top donors! We want to thank Micheal Hayman family for the partnership on bulls selling in the sale . Micheal is very driven and we’re excited to see what we can do advance the breed!
We couldn’t do this without the help of our family, friends and all our employees Andrew, Colton, Eric, Isaiah, Zac, Josias, Douglas, TD, and Matt . You guys are willing to juggle the sale barn and cattle operations to make it all happen Our wives have the toughest task keeping everything together and we really appreciate that!
We thank you for your time and interest in our program . We will continue to offer the absolute best marketing of your feeder steers and highly sought after replacement heifers thru our auction we’ve owned and operated in our family for over 56 years and counting . We love this business and appreciate your support and if you ever need anything we will answer our phones! Give any one of us a chance to earn your business GOD

Improved Buying Confidence with Greater Genomic ASSURANCE
Access to more and better information has always been key to making wise decisions. The evolution and improvement of genetic evaluation tools too has given us an ever-clearer picture of the true genetic makeup of cattle and thus a better view of the value proposition. RightMate, powered by Top Genomics LLC is taking the evaluation of genetics and genomics one giant step further. By combining speci c genomic information with the long-proven value of EPDs, this new advancement in technology improves our depth and precision when evaluating the actual ability to transmit value and pro t.
The 3 Accreditation Logos below are designed to simplify bull selection and improve buyer con dence by more accurately describing the genetics o ered and by reducing risk. What this means to you as a customer is a much greater assurance that you are getting both what you want and need from the genetics you purchase. What it means to your seedstock provider is access to RightMate technology that simply sets them apart from the rest of the industry.
ACCREDITED GENOMIC PLUS – For the majority of producers who simply need consistent and balanced genetic improvement, without genomic setbacks, G+ Accredited bulls should be on your list for premium purchase. These sires will absolutely move you forward for both cost reduction and income producing traits and substantially reduce risk when compared to all other evaluation programs. It’s simple, the right genes are in these bulls to help secure a pro table future and the they have great EPDs to match!
ACCREDITED CALVING EASE – Simply nd bulls with the ACE logo for third party Accredited, secure Calving Ease bulls. Though we have had tools in the past to assist in choosing heifer bulls, we’ve never had one nearly this e ective. The reduced risk that comes with this genomic certi cation will simply make your decisions easier and your heifer calving season more successful. Purchase special purpose ACE bulls with con dence. They will deliver consistent and predictable calving ease.
ACCREDITED TERMINAL MATE – Just like an ATM machine makes it simpler to access your cash, the ATM Logo highlights bulls accredited to generate extra cash income as soon as your next calf crop! These bulls are meant speci cally to use only on mature cows and for the purpose of adding performance, pay weight and end product value to market.
TERS KODIAK was our pick in the Bred for Balance Sale a couple years ago partnering with River Creek . Kodiak was brought in to enhance our maternal side to our cow families He also serves as our calving ease specialist He stands correctly on perfect feet and legs His ability to pass on a 6 frame progeny that has loads of look and eye appeal His daughters will be known for years to come for staying in the herd His sons when mated correctly can make herd bulls with size and substance, low birth weights

• What a powerfully uninformed set of full brothers out of the most dominant female at Schooley Cattle. Her cow family is stacked with greatness coming from the great 823F. Her full brother Schooley Haggard is one of the leading sires in the breed for transmitting high end carcass values. 068H has notched herself as the top bull producer in the herd. Her 6 sons have avg 22,000. Her ability to transmit length and dimension is unrivaled. One or two of these ET sons will be very likely to be selling several units of semen as we will move forward with a couple of them. Big time herd sires!

• This Flush to JC Lawless was one of the great all time matings here at the ranch. We just loved the overall makeup he breeds into his sons. Muscle, length of spine, great feet and legs and outcross mating. This set of brothers will definitely continue the legacy of the great 823F lineage. I’m still trying to figure out who’s the best of the best. I’m sure on sale day you will have it all figured out. Big time dudes here!
• Schooley Miss 3000A 823F is the cornerstone donor of our herd. She produces many outstanding progeny that are worth highlighting. She produced the $65,000 son, Schooley Krown 28K, to English Oaks in Georgia. Produced $32,500 son, Schooley Haggard A411H to River Creek. Produced $55,000 son, Schooley Limitless. We made the decision of selling her as a 7 year old cow to Hidden Pines Cattle in Versailles,Mo.for $46,000

Schooley Miss E69 171J is a donor that makes progeny that excels on their EPD profile while keeping the type and kind we look for in our program . We sold 10 sons that averaged 11,850 in our last year’s offering This stud is out of Schooley Krown, one of the leading bulls in the breed Schooley Night train will definitely leave his mark as one of the great bulls of the sale season . A bull with herd bull features while boasting incredible EPDS . A heifer bull that will add much needed muscle back to these Simmentals He blends our two best cow families together He will be a very popular sale day! We will use him back in the herd!
SCHOOLEY KROWN 28K – SIRE
Schooley Knight quietly continues to make huge waves for us He delivers everything we are seeking . His ability to make both males and females is hard to conquer . They are very easy going with style and presence . His marbling really adds another feather in his hat This set of ET bulls aren’t exactly the same but you can get power, calving ease , and a maternal cow lineage for keeping females .

Schooley Haggard has taken the breed to a whole new level in the last few months . His popularity has risen amongst the breeders this sale season and are topping sales . His credibility with the commercial guys is climbing as well He marbles with the
best and these cattle have all kinds of premium values at kill sheet time . His
Schooley Newstand will keep that going for sure . Out of the great 171j he should consistently keep the carcass values up He’s also a great candidate for your heifers . By the way check out his API and TI they are at the top Very likely to get bred to heifers here at the ranch

Schooley Longshot was a bull that grabbed attention from all who saw him two years ago, for his incredible look and genomic values. Zach Teter was probably the only one paying attention that day and grabbed him up for 17,000. We believed in him and flushed our top females to produce a great set of herd bulls. Longshot will add considerable consistency to your calf crop. Long, deep and soggy built with great data sets. We will have many more Longshot calves in next year’s sale. • Schooley Nation lot 35 is the biggest stoutest bull in the sale! He grabs your attention as soon as you enter the barn. He’s designed to make an impact on any type of female you breed him too. This bull reminds me of why Simmental cattle can be great again! He’s gonna make lots of friends.
Schooley Navigator 471N
ASA#(4583927)
• Schooley Navigator a full brother to Megatron the new herd sire for Teter ranch in Kansas. He’s not quite Megatron today but he’s gaining ground on him everyday here He’s a bull that will add loads of performance and should mate well to Angus cows
• Schooley Leviticus was a sale topper 2 years ago going to the Williams brother in Missouri. We loved his presence, length of spine, his ability to sire cattle that have excellent spread numbers. His 2 ET full brothers are out of 363L our top female going back to 068h that we think has a world of potential. These bulls are little later developing but they are coming in hot by sale time. Some progressive cattlemen will like these as well as any.
• Schooley Lazuras was the top pick for clear Springs in Minnesota and Gibbs farms in Alabama. Travis found this guy in a very tough class of bulls and snagged him out Although the new evaluation wasn’t kind to his CE. We all have calved these Lazuras calves out and Bradley says his are moderate coming with excellent vigor. We have confidence they will do well on cows. We love the performance from this pair of sons. Great bulls they are identical twins you should buy them both!!

His dam 371L is a full sister to Limitless and Longshot. Her maternal indexes should transition well into making very productive females. Lifesaver was just
of flushes and they are very consistent type and kind. 176N will add frame, performance , and outcross pedigree that should work well with about anyone’s herd

• Schooley Kruz /114j flush was implemented to make heifer bulls. Well 2 of the 3 are sure fire heifer bulls without sacrificing muscle and power. We like this mating just hoping to get a couple heifers to retain for future use. They would work really well on heifer projects inserting little Simmy back in those Angus females
The Red Bulls are back and they are really good! We just love their dam j124 our pick of the herd from Bichler in North Dakota . She’s a perfect dark red female that’s an outcross to many red pedigrees . Her mating to Jack Red was just right, he added the indexes she needed . We aren’t really into making many Reds but this pair of brothers are very good . Red Angus guys get in here and add free Heterosis!!
Angus Bulls
We have a small division of Angus bulls in this year’s offering . However, our Angus program is continuing to grow at a tremendous rate . We plan on selling more Angus yearling bulls and Angus fall bulls .

We think his females are some of the best we’ve ever raised His dam 823F is one of the most consistent females in the breed for adding genetic values Not to mention she breeds very consistent making very good percentage cattle . Take advantage of these Krowns you will love them!
•
• The lead off bred heifer that might be as good as any to earn the honor going back to the great E69 cow family and full sister to 171j
• Krown blew away the female division for us and 436M is one to continue the tradition here at Schooley cattle.
• High indexing female with show ring appeal, herd bull performance, and ideal feet and legs to build a program around.
• Get her home flush her and enjoy the success she brings you!

QUICK REFERENCE TO ASA EPDS AND $ INDEXES
Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels . In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny For example, if sires A and B have EPDs of +10 and -5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units) Key to using EPDs is knowing what units they are expressed in . For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPDs, A would be expected to sire 15- pounds more weaning weight than B . If calving ease were the trait, A would be expected to sire 15-percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in other words, if B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we’d expect A to require 15 assists . A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed . For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org Listed below are the units ASA EPDs are expressed in:
Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers .
Birth Weight (BW): Pounds of birth weight
Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight .
Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight
Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters
Milk (Milk): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk .
Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth .
Marbling (Marb): Marbling score .
Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye .
All-Purpose Index (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario (See below for more details )
Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age
Back Fat (BF): Inches of backfat .
Carcass Weight (CW): Pounds of carcass weight .
Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score .
Warner-Bratzler Shear Force (WBSF): Pounds of force required to shear a steak
Terminal Index (Tl): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario (See below for more details )
$ Indexes: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle . That’s where $ indexes come in . Through well- conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line . The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following$ indexes: All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield .
Terminal Index (Tl): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield . Using API and Tl: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, Tl . Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls . (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed .) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff . x 30 hd . x 4 yr . = $6,000) . A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed . For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www .simmental .org
