This year marks the 15th anniversary of our very first sale. Looking back over the years, it is extraordinary and humbling to realize how far we’ve come. Kastel Show Cattle and Friends Sale has been a labor of love for 15 years, and we couldn’t put this event together year after year without the help of our family and friends.

Rachel Our beloved donor cow, Rachel, has been the anchor of our success at Kastel Show Cattle from the beginning. This amazing Meyer 734 daughter has consistently been churning out the hits in the form of herd sires, donor females, and winning show prospects.

Rachel is the dam of JFK Mind Bender by Starburst, the Kastel herd and AI sire who is a preferred choice for Shorthorn Plus calving ease, color, and quality in a doubleclean package. Mind Bender progeny are being met with rave reviews and are bringing home purple from coast to coast.

Rachel’s son, JFK Dirty Thoughts by My Kind, is gaining steam as his first calves hit the ground. And JFK Cutie Pie—full sib to Mind Bender—is the dam of JFK Russian Gold, who sold one-half interest for $14,500 to Joe and Josh Beukema. Russian Gold calves will be hitting the ground in the spring.

Recent daughters include a $7,500 Maximus fall-born, a Bodacious at $5,750, and a Broker daughter—from an embryo purchase—sold for $9,750 and is off and winning for the Mogg family. Early calves from Rachel include a $23,000 son and three heifer calves by three different sires that averaged $8,750.

Rachel will go down in history as one of Meyer 734’s most powerful daughters, and she passes it on. She has stood the test of time, to say the least, and now her sons and daughters are starting to produce elite stock—just like we knew they would! The 2018 crop from this great cow is her best stuff yet, including two very exciting heifers by Firewater and Troubadour.

We would like to thank the Hartman and Mogg families for purchasing Rachel’s most recent embryos. There won’t be many more opportunities to own a piece of this incredible cow, so be on the lookout for her progeny in this year’s sale.

White-booted, blaze-faced, freaky-necked, monster-footed, with the LOOK we drive so many miles to find. This is the kind I dream of making a pasture full of. Oh baby…this is my kind of heifer. She has that soft, soggy side, big top and muscle, and yet has enough extension in her neck. As you keep reading through this catalog you will notice I will preach a few things, and she has them all: structure, balance, rib shape, and smooth shoulder with some extention to the neck. She moves around so soft on her squishy joints, like all the Maternal Mades I have had. This is the kind you can drag around the show circuit and then bring her home and make her a front pasture cow.

Milania is out of our donor Ms. Wahoo, who has not disappointed us yet.

She produced a One in the Chamber steer that sold to Matt Lautner and was Reserve Champion Steer in Iowa. Her sibs sell as Lots 18 and 70.

This heifer is going to give the steers a run for their money, just like her sister did—grabbing Top 5 Overall several times against the steers. She’s monster-footed, massivetopped, square-hipped, with some neck extension, and boy can this girl get out and move. Watch out boys...

Liability: All animals and merchandise will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as bid off. However, the seller will provide for the safety of each animal for a reasonable amount of time following the sale. Breeding Information: Please note the details regarding breeding information for each lot. All bred females will be examined for pregnancy prior to the sale any changes to their breeding status will be made available sale day. All sellers reserve the right to two (2) successful flushes on all females sold. A successful flush is 6 or more eggs. Flushes will be done at the seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.

Seller will make every attempt to provide either the same embryo or one of similar value. If embryos are not inserted within one (1) calendar year of sale, guarantee is void.

Guarantee: All registered cattle sell under the standard terms endorsed by their respective breed associations.

All steer calves sell as-is. Bred females have been satisfactorily examined for pregnancy, are guaranteed bred at sale time, and are assumed to be breeders without further guarantee. Due dates listed for bred females are the result of said examination and/or known breeding dates and are intended to be used as estimates of actual calving dates. No guarantee is made for the actual calving date. No guarantee, expressed or implied, is made as to an animal’s ability to produce frozen semen or transferrable embryos, or the fertility of heifers under one year of age.

Health: Buyers should make themselves aware of their respective state’s health requirements ahead of sale.

Registration and Transfer: Some of the offerings will sell with complete registration certificates issued by their respective breed associations. These certificates will be transferred free of charge to the new owners within a reasonable amount of time following the sale. In some cases, animals will sell as Eligible for Registry; in these cases, the animal in question may be registered by the new owner at the new owner’s expense. Please see each lot for details and for consignor information.

Transportation: Transportation arrangements can be made if needed (at new owner’s expense).

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block take precedence over any printed material.

Absentee Bidding: If you would like to invest in some of the cattle being offered here but will be unable to attend the sale, please contact the farm, auctioneer, sale manager, or representatives as far ahead of the sale as possible.

Your bids will be handled with complete confidentiality and we can arrange to have the cattle delivered to your farm or ranch. Live phone bidding and online bidding are available but not guaranteed. Cattle must be paid for prior to delivery.
