WELCOME Welcome Cattlemen & Cattlewomen, Welcome to our 2nd Online Bull and Female Sale. We would like to thank everyone who made our 1st online Bull and Female Sale a success. Thank you to all the buyers, bidders, family and friends who helped put it all together.

This year we feel we have a solid set of bulls and females for your consideration.

We will be offering ten yearling bulls and seven females. We will be offering three open heifers right off the top of our replacement pen! We will be offering choice on two Stockmarket daughters that we couldn’t decide which one was better, so we figured we’d let you decide that. We also added a few bred females this year.

Two registered bred heifers right off the top of our herd that will have calves at side come sale day and one commercial bred heifer and one bred cow that fell out of our calving window. We didn’t hold back at all this year and probably will regret it when the females leave the farm.

A little info about how we run our cow herd. Fertility is a very important trait for us, as an open cow doesn’t make you money. We AI every cow or set them up as a recip for our ET program. This year we bred every cow off natural heats for a couple reasons. One was to space our calves out day by day but keep them in a 63-day calving window. The other was to save on the cost on drugs and CIDRs. Our ET recips were set up on a 7&7 sync. We ended up with 73% conception rate on the AI cows and 66% on the embryo transfers. The cows are on a TMR diet that consist of wet hay, dry hay, silage and good mineral program until bred and turned out on grass. The drought this summer made the grass scarce which made us feed the pairs all summer long. After chopping silage, the cows were moved to the corn fields where they were fed until January 1st until we brought them closer to home for calving. While on cornstalks they had to walk over a quarter mile one way for water to get their exercise.

The calves were NOT creep fed this year. The calves were weaned October 10th and put on a 42-cal TMR mix for 2 weeks. The heifer calves have stayed on the 42-cal TMR mix consisting of wet hay, dry hay, silage and very little corn. We put the bull calves on a 48-cal diet consisting of the same ingredients but just a little more corn. Our yearling bulls are in a few-acre pasture to allow them to exercise and fight like yearling boys do. They get plenty of exercise in the pasture and we try having them gain around 3 lbs/day. The bulls will stay on a 48-cal ration until April 1st. Then we will put the bulls on a 44-cal ration until delivery. We feel doing this the bulls will keep good body condition going into breeding season and lose very little if put with the recommend number of cows/heifers.

Animals become the property of the buyer when the sale is over. We recommend getting insurance on the animals.

Any person attending the sale does so at their own risk. Neither the owners, or any person connected with this sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise for any accidents or injuries that happen on the farm.

All animals are guaranteed healthy on sale day and on delivery day.

Receive $100 sale credit toward a bull if you view cattle before or on March 18th or 19th. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase and believe viewing the cattle prior to the sale is important.

Feeding & Delivery

Schedule of Events

Bulls are kept till May 1st free of charge. After that there will be a $3/ day charge. Free delivery to MN and surrounding states for accumulated purchases of $3,000 or more (bulls or heifers). We will assist in deliveries for purchases under $3,000 at a cost. Take your bull home sale day and receive $50 off per bull.

Pictures & Videos

All pictures and videos are taken by us. If you would like additional pictures of videos of sale cattle or dams of cattle, feel free to reach out to us and we will make it happen! Pictures and videos will be available online at arredangus.com, dvauction.com or on our Facebook page A&R Red Angus.

Terms and Conditions

Terms of sale are cash or check. No animals will be released from the farm until full payment is made. Cattle will sell according to the terms and conditions suggested by the Red Angus Association of America.

Guarantee

All animals are sold to be guaranteed breeders. Bulls will pass a breeding soundness exam before delivery. Open heifers will be confirmed open and breedable before the sale. Bred heifers will be confirmed bred before the sale. In the events of unsatisfactory breeding performance, either a replacement bull or sale credit will be provided, when the defective animal is returned to us in a good state of health.

Semen Interest

A&R Red Angus is retaining 1/3 semen interest and selling 100% possession in all the bulls unless other terms are state. In the event that semen is collected it will be done at sellers expense and buyers convenience.

Auction Format

The Sale will be broadcasted entirely online at www.DVAuction. All lots will close at 4:00 PM CDT on March 19th.

If any lot is bid on with 5 minutes prior to 4:00 PM CDT March 19th, bidding will be extended for an additional 5 minutes on all lots. Bidding will then close when there are no bids placed on any lots for a period of 5 minutes.

Here is a bull that will make you want to keep every heifer out of him! We purchased J113’s dam from Nordlund Stock Farm in 2016 and we are glad we did. J113’s dam will be turning 8 this spring and has a 365-day calving interval, an MPPA of 101 with an impeccable udder and walks on a great set of feet! We have kept every female out of his dam and sold 3 sons that are doing an excellent job for their new owners. J113 is backed by longevity with his maternal granddam, great granddam, and great, great granddam in production until 11, 11 and 13 years old and his dam is well on her way. We feel J113 will be a safe option for heifers.

J100 is a son out of EGL Fury 8100 who we sampled in our AI program and like what we have been seeing with his progeny. J100 has been a standout all summer long. We bought 4 open heifers from the Rich Red Angus Dispersal Sale and J100’s dam is one of them She sure didn’t disappoint on her first try. J100’s dam posts an MPPA of 104 and is AI bred to calve to February 10th to EGL Fury 8100 again.

These flush brothers are out of the great Bieber Hard Drive Y120 who is a leader in the breed of growth and carcass. Semen is getting harder and harder to find on Y120 Lot 4 so make sure to check these brothers out on sale day. Put these flush brothers on a group of cows and you will have a nice group of heavy feeder calves come fall! J102 and J103 are big ribbed with lots of middle. Their dam, 595E is the big middled, easy fleshing kind.

These flush brothers are out of the great Bieber Hard Drive Y120 who is a leader in the breed of growth and carcass. This dark cherry red bull will catch your attention come sale day. This bull is owned by our daughter and there was not a time we went to check cows where we did not have to stop and check out her bull calf. J122 is a maternal brother to our Lot 6 bull last year who was one of my favorites.

J122 is out of one of my favorite cows that has been doing an excellent job for us. His Lot 8 dam has a great udder and stands on a perfect set of solid black feet. J122 is sired by F427 who also had a great set of feet. J122 steps on a great hoof himself. J122 is the youngest bull in the offering but I would not hold that against him as he has been holding his own all year.

404B is a moderate framed cow that slipped out of our calving window. She ended up slipping the calf after summer preg checking. We bought 404B as a bred cow from Bieber Red Angus. She has raised 3 nice calves for us, lot 15 being one of them. Her heifer from this year is in our replacement pen. She is a solid cow that stands on solid feet and has a great udder at calving time. She’d be a great addition to any summer herd.
