We want to say thank you to everyone who has impacted our family and our cattle operation. Since the beginning, there have been countless people who have touched our lives and for that we are grateful. Without the blessing of our family, friends, and customers none of this would be a reality.

As cattle producers, we have a great responsibility to manage the land and tend to the livestock. As you know it is a task that can be both rewarding and overwhelming at times. The collection of a sale offering is a result of years of hard work and the fruits of our labor. We’ve tried to listen to our valued customers over the years. One of the overriding requests has been for more age advantage bulls. This year all the bulls meet that request. We take great pride in the presentation of these bulls. The bulls are toned up, hard muscled, and ready to go to the pasture. They have been developed on wheat pasture, grass in the summer, and limit fed grain ration since December. We believe this bull development program will offer bulls with greater longevity and structural soundness for our customers.

The 2026 set of bulls includes some unique individuals as most sales do but this set of bulls is undoubtedly the deepest group in terms of quality that we have ever offered. In the breeds with larger numbers of bulls offered, there are many bulls that could be debated as the best and the gap between that group and the last bull in the breed is very small.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 23rd Annual Bixler Ranch Bull Sale!

We try to breed livestock that will create a legacy. Oftentimes, that comes from the maternal side for us. We strive to make bulls that have that same capability. 2 out of the last 3 years the lead-off Red Angus bull has been sired by a bull that was sold through this sale. In 2023, we liked the Lot 1 bull, Strawberry Soda, so much that we flushed him to our best young donor. What is being presented to you this year as the lead-off Red Angus is the next generation type of improvement we were looking for in that mating! With Donor 142 being a direct daughter of Donor 42B and Strawberry Soda being a grandson of Donor 42B, you could not stack this pedigree any stronger with the most consistent, potent genetics our operation has to offer. If you set the breeding aside and just studied this bull’s build, you’ll find a big hipped, long bodied, loose structured bull that will hit you with a look you can’t deny. No animal is perfect, but like his sire, this bull is so complete that I’m not sure you can say he has a true flaw.

A bull that created a legacy was sold in 2023. That inclination might even be stronger for Lot 1 in 2026. Come along for the ride when the next legacy train leaves on March 7th!

We say it every year but we believe in these bulls and use them ourselves. Lot 2 is more proof of that. Lot 1 in 2023 was purchased by a pair of sharp cattlemen. We see a lot of similarities between this bull and his sire from their striking profile, structure that can go all day long, and tremendous athleticism. What gives us even more confidence in Lot 2 is he is backed by a great Bingo daughter which goes back to Donor 4Z, the mother of the $50,000 Hottie heifer who won Tulsa. Lot 2 will put an impressive stamp on any set of cows. His build and genetics say he is loaded with longevity. Just keep bidding on sale day and show your banker these comments after you buy the bull.

In a world where lines seem to be getting blurred, this bull puts his foot down and there is no debate. He’s masculine, he’s rugged, and he’s a cowman’s kind! Lot 3 is bold down his top when you think about producing the most valuable cuts of meat and his stifle pops at you from the profile. He’s long sided where he rings the bell for the cattle buyer, but can still satisfy those buyers who demand elite phenotypic conformation in their cattle. Another stacked pedigree on a real beef bull! This bull is huge bodied and dense. We admire the strength of bone he possesses in a very modest birth weight. Donor 702 is another daughter of 42B that has influenced multiple years of bulls, including our current calving ease sire. Lot 4’s sire, Prestige, was one of the high selling bulls in the 2021 Niobrara sale sired by John Wick. This is a bull that you can’t help but appreciate the product he carries when you see him in person.

The bulls from the 2023 bull sale treated us well and we haven’t even hit the main feature yet. The sire of Lot 6 is not only the stoutest Red Angus we sold in 2023, he may be the stoutest Red Angus bull we have ever raised! He mates exactly like you would hope on flatter made cows and has been doing a tremendous job for us and his new owners. Lot 6 is big hipped and absolutely ripped like we all would be if we didn’t own livestock and had time to live in the gym. The grandmother to Lot 6 is a full sister to McMurphy’s Poker Face bull that has been a good producer for us and you can see her influence here. This dark red, sharp fronted specimen is another cow changer and may be the biggest mistake to have not had in the picture pen! TAG 1983 PB RED ANGUS SPRING

Lot 5 is the better profiling, more striking bull of the pair of embryo brothers. You might think we should have pictured him and you might be right. Where you would like to improve Lot 4, this bull excels. He doesn’t carry the overall density when compared to Lot 4, but neither does any Red Angus bull in this sale. We think this is a versatile sire that can fit an even wider variety of cowherds than his brother while breeding those same valuable attributes.

Yes, he is calving ease and yes, he is that good! 6009 is second to none for us in the Red Angus breed when it comes to spitting out live calves with vigor. It is one thing to call a bull calving ease when he’s only being bred to purebred Red Angus females. It’s a whole different level to stamp him with calving ease after he has been tested for years on crossbred or club calf females and 6009 has undoubtedly earned that stamp! What makes 6009 unique is that his cattle are not only low birth weight but they are some of the best phenotypically. Take a look at the 6009 daughter below. Lot 7 joins the list as this year’s version of another stylish 6009 calving ease son. Calving Ease

If you study either of these bull’s head, neck, and shoulder you’ll see why this lineage has been so valuable for us when calving heifers. If a heifer has calving trouble out of these bulls, then she was going to have calving trouble out of any bull. She’s 12 years old, still raising a calf, and just take a look at how impressive she looked pictured at 11 years old. Nobody had ever seen her pictured before because her calves spoke for themselves. It would have been a tragedy to have such an influential cow and to have never documented her. Lot 9 is one of her growthiest, most high performing sons. We expect him to provide his new buyer with increased longevity just like Donor 42B has done for us.

Lot 10 is an outcross from most of our genetics. This bull offers a lower birth weight while pushing performance. He is one of the best options for anyone who can’t watch their cows as closely at calving time, has rugged terrain where it isn’t feasible to check them closely, but still wants live calves that deliver heavy weaning weights. He ranks in the top 15% for REA. He is a great option to consider for retaining heifers as Lot 10 ranks high in HPG & CEM which means his daughters are more likely to conceive as yearling heifers and calve unassisted at 2 years olds.

We introduced you to Creed 2 years ago with a yellow bull that was one of the most impressive specimens we had ever raised. This year we lead off the Percentage Red Angus division with another Creed son that pulls no punches. His picture may not blow you away compared to others, but you’ll waste a lot of time trying to find a hole in him. We really appreciate his depth of center body that carries into his flank as well as any bull in the sale. He’s so naturally pulled apart from his forerib out through his hip that it nearly disguises the mass that this bull carries. His structure is on point and he is strong skulled like you want your bulls to be. He is out of a really good, red baldy KB 52 daughter that goes back to the 725 cow who could arguably be one of the most consistent, high quality producers we own. “Yee haw, boy!” as Callahan would say with his rocking horse. This bull makes you want to saddle up! Talk about a fun bull to own, breed, or even just look at. Dark red and could produce a set of calves that would turn any buyer’s head. His length of body is unmatched in a bull that holds himself together so correct and square. He has the style that many Bet On Red sons offer but with a much easier handling personality. His mother is another Bingo x 4Z daughter that has stood the test of time. Lot 12 could work on as wide of a variety of breeds of cows as possibly any bull in the sale. Make sure they call your buyer’s number after the gavel drops.

what is a bull worth?

"As a student at Oklahoma State University in the mid-1980s, I was taught: “A good bull is worth the value of five calves he sires.” It is a good answer and a good rule of thumb...

Using the end of year market prices for 2025 from Derrell Peel’s article in the Dec. 29, 2025, issue of the Cow-Calf Corner newsletter: 500-pound (lb.) weaned steer calves were worth about $4.80 per lb. for a value of approximately $2,400 per head. Therefore, if my future marketing plan is to sell weaned steers, $2,400 x 5 = $12,000 is the answer...

It is noteworthy that we haven’t considered the value added to replacement females a bull will sire. Bulls used to sire the next generation of cows have an even greater long-term economic effect on the profit potential of your operation and should be valued accordingly.

I encourage cow-calf operations to consider their breeding goals, production system and marketing plan. Doing so should dictate where to apply selection pressure. Genetic values pay when you purchase bulls capable of improving genetic potential for the specific traits that will translate to added value at your intended marketing end point." - Mark Johnson, Oklahoma State University Extension Angus Beef Bulletin EXTRA, Vol. 18, No. 1-A

Lot 13 is a maternal brother to the best Red Angus female we have ever raised. Their mother, 9702, is a tremendous producer that out-breeds herself every year. Notice that common 702 heritage in this bull’s genetics like Lot 4 & 5. Paint It Red that was purchased by Ira Smith has sired some of our top animals each year. Lot 13 is dark red and as attractive as you can make one from the profile. He’s stout boned yet smooth and angular like his 132 sired mother. That level of generational quality and consistency in a pedigree creates a bull that we feel will confidently do a good job for his new owner.

Red Lazy MC

A slightly younger and more immature bull. This bull nearly got pictured and with another 6 months he would have been one of the highlights of the sale. This bull does everything right in terms of structure, composition, and overall build. He just simply doesn’t possess the mass that comes with maturity. Look up Lot 14 if you’re wanting to produce bulls and females that you might retain or sell as breeding stock, but you don’t want to fight over the top lots in this sale.

His mother is a really impressive PTO embryo daughter out of the 120X donor. 120X has produced countless elite Red Angus for us and is likely only 2nd in influence within our program to Donor 42B. Lot 15 is stout, he’s square, and he’s all there. We know how this lineage produces and we strongly endorse it. If you sell your calves commercially, it’s hard to beat these Paint It Red sons. Their offspring are stouter, bigger boned, and heavier than the Purebred Red Angus calves and they sell just as hot!

He has multiple generations of good cows behind him going all the way back to his great grandmother, the 299 cow, that produced up until she was 15. The 842 bull that is the sire of Lot 17’s mother was our top calving ease bull from the 2020 bull sale. His mother is a really flashy Bet On Red daughter and his 734 grandmother has put bulls in the sale in previous years. Take this bull home and breed him to a group of second calvers and see how easy they come. You might prove us wrong and have just bought the best calving ease bull with hybrid vigor and great genetics behind him under the money.

Calving ease that packs a punch! This bull is stout and cocky built in a compact and angular package. He has a beautiful KB 52 mother that had another bull calf last year that will be a feature in 2027. You don’t have to keep any calves out of this bull but they are going to have a wow factor that will certainly tempt you to keep them. Lot 25 is unquestionably the exact animal we strive to raise regardless of breed. We sold half interest in the black version of this bull in 2023 to Kevin Gore and you will find his first offspring featured later in the catalog. We collected Lot 25 as a yearling and have bred cows to him heavily. The first calves will come later this spring, but he will certainly make a mark on this program just as Kevin’s bull did. This bull’s mother is a Purebred Red Angus King of Spades daughter that we have flushed multiple times and stands out in the pasture. His grandmother is Pelton Miss Reba 6027Y that was a top donor at C-Bar producing many of the high sellers annually before she came to Waynoka. Lot 25 is whale bellied and stout legged. His feet, pasterns, set to his hock, and reach when he travels are as true as they come. His topline exhibits the perfect amount of muscle expression and shape over his loin while balancing the correct looseness that indicates great structure. He’s cocky through his front third, his neck set is right, and his head shape screams stout, easy feeding, efficient cattle. This bull is going to be too moderate for many people and we understand that. We challenge them to consider a few things though. There is nothing easier than to produce the biggest framed calves out of moderate cows in 1 generation, but it takes many generations to breed that big frame out of those cattle.

If I retain offspring as breeding stock that maintain condition with less feed or forage, I win. If I retain my cattle through the feed yard to where I reach a finish and kill weight in fewer days, I win. Change the narrative on March 7th and buy Lot 25 so the auctioneer can look at you and say, “you win!”

This pair of brothers in Lot 26 and 27 are good, but their mother is next level genotypically and phenotypically. No cow has ever bred the mass and body for us that Donor 532 bred into her offspring. There are few 532 descendants left but there is no mistaking them. Donor 022 was part of the first flush to ever be born out of Turning Point. We used him heavily and we used him on the very best cows. The amount of bone, mass, muscle shape, and depth of body that Donor 022 possesses while being as sound and flexible as a jungle cat is unique. Lot 26 is likely the most versatile ¾ Simmental bull we have ever sold. He could make the biggest bodied, most elegant females you’ve ever seen and then he could be bred to a different set of cows and make massive, rugged herd bulls. With him strategically being a ¾ Simmental, he offers the potential to be used in a Simmental operation to make purebreds or a commercial breeding stock program where those calves are only ⅜ Simmental. We would even utilize him to improve functionality and maternal characteristics in some club calf females while still producing some high dollar show calves. Only bid to win on Lot 26!

While Lot 26 and 27 are full brothers, they offer substantial differences. If they were people, Lot 26 would walk into a room with a subtle, quiet confidence and Lot 27 comes in bold and flashy. Lot 27 has a proud, high neck set to him that demands attention. He’s big bodied like his brother, but his hair coat is tremendous and offers value to those breeders that like to cash in on selling show calves. Their bone work is stout, but not overdone to where you worry about longevity and integrity. Lot 27 presents a unique opportunity for those breeders looking for a maternally bred bull that phenotypically has the capability of producing high upside offspring.

LOT 27
DONOR

DAM: 8026 (Hybrid)

Get familiar with Donor 8026 because Lot 28 is good and there are more offspring coming in the pipeline! This bull is deep sided, square built, and great necked. He may not have the mass of Lot 26 and 27 but you may not need that either. His structure is flawless and his mother is awesome. This bull checks the boxes where it matters. I don’t know what to tell you is the best way to use this bull, but just use him. It will work!

If you came to the auction for a red baldy and Lot 25 wasn’t your cup of tea, pour yourself a cup here because Lot 29 is your flavor! He offers all the performance you could want while still maintaining the balance compared to many performance bulls that just simply fall apart. It’s only by chance that the 1405 red baldy cow is here because her sire was a Maternal Made son that got injured just prior to the 2020 sale. We kept him to see if he would recover and we were able to use him on some of our own cows. The 1405 cow is incredibly good looking and the Maternal Made cows are known to be some of the best producing females of any breed. Lock into Lot 29 to produce some premium grabbing red baldy calves.

I have wanted to picture Lot 30 for this sale since he was nursing his mother and he was on the list until picture day. He’s simply a little too much of a meat and potatoes bull for a photo shoot, but besides the potatoes, isn’t that what we’re being paid to produce? This bull offers the depth of body and fleshing capabilities that we want. His mother was a soggy middled black brockle faced cow that looked like she would click to any bull you bred her to even at 10 years old. Of course we want to produce the flashy looking bulls. Sometimes that mating doesn’t always hit and when it misses, this is exactly where we want it to miss. Maybe he didn’t make the picture pen but we’d take a sale full of bulls like this and be confident that you are getting a product that is going to improve the efficiency of your operation.

A high performing bull rounds out the group of Red Bird sons that possesses many similarities to Lot 29. His mother, sired by Take Me To Church who sold here in 2018, is part of a very productive group of flush-mate sisters. Lot 31 would work really well on a group of commercial Red Angus females to add power, bone, and substance to that calf crop.

He’s sharp fronted and sleek headed which indicates he could calve easier than some. His mother turns 11 years old this year. She’s as mobile as any female we own and could picture with the best of them. Despite not being pictured, he is intentionally the lead off bull of the Turn Key sons.

Where Lot 32 may fall short, the picture proves that Lot 33 excels. This bull is striking from the profile. We have quite a few New Game daughters and this bull proves why. For the guys that like them cocky with a stout, flawlessly level topline, Lot 33 rings the bell. He provides as much performance as any Turn Key son in the sale. This is a great option for both terminal producers and those who want to sell the next generation of breeding stock.

This is a full brother to one of the high selling bulls in 2024 that we hear is doing a good job in South Texas. Lot 34 has the wild pieces like his brother. He’s big topped, wide pinned, strong boned, and as tight necked as you would want. Even with all that muscle and a tight neck, he still presents good depth of body that you don’t always find in those types of bulls. This bull has been unique since he was a calf and when we saw how his brother developed, we were confident Lot 34 would be special as well.

SIRE: BIX Turn Key

This star headed Turn Key son just puts it all together in a package that makes you say, “That bull will work.” He’s good everywhere and extreme nowhere. Often times when we’re breeding good cows, we look for a bull that won’t overcompensate in any particular area because the cow is good and doesn’t need much extra help. That’s what you’ll find in Lot 35. He does everything right and he is going to compliment a group of cows without breeding extreme features that might not fit every cow. That’s the type of bull that is easy to like.

This baldy is going to have a fun set of calves to look at. He probably pictured below his actual quality so if you like his picture at all, just buy him because you’ll love him in person. He’s stout, he’s square, he’s deep. Isn’t that what we’re looking for? He has a moderate, easy fleshing mother. This bull could work on a wide range such as cleaning up the best donor cows or just making commercial calves that will sell as hot as any. Just like Lot 35, we think this is a problem free bull that is a safe buy.

Probably the top performance Turn Key in the group. His Outsider mother is a beautiful cow that anyone would appreciate. Proven genetics that we have sold for years on the top and bottom side of the pedigree in a good built bull.

The Bixler Ranch was homesteaded in 1897 approximately 6 miles northwest of Waynoka. In 1925, George Bixler purchased his first registered Hereford cows driving them on horseback twenty miles from east of Dacoma. George's son, Ray, continued expanding the registered Hereford herd selling bulls throughout Northwest Oklahoma. In 1978, Stan, Ray's son, brought the first black cows into the breeding program starting the use of European breeds to stay in stride with the trends of the cattle industry. Clark, Stan's youngest son, is leaving his mark by continuing the decades of progressive breeding to keep pace with the demands of the cattle industry.

We referenced a bull earlier in the catalog that we sold in 2023 that made his mark on our program and would have his first offspring featured in this catalog. The sire of Lot 38, The Mayor, is that bull. We have never used a bull that so consistently sired calves that were big barreled, wide constructed, great structured, square built, and so genuinely dense like the calves out of The Mayor. Our top bulls, females, and even a few show steers have been sired by The Mayor. The mother of Lot 38 clicks every time. Just look at her lead-off Turn Key son from the 2024 sale. Lot 38 has the perfect body and he is more masculine than his picture appears. Buy with extreme confidence here.

We nearly pictured Lot 39 and maybe we should have but we have to cut the list off somewhere. He has that perfectly square, stout, deep bodied build that all of The Mayor sons possess but he’s slightly younger and immature than some. His On The Mark mother is a really impressive, deep bodied, baldy cow who raised a really good bull we sold a few years ago that a local buyer was very impressed with. This is another fault free bull that we think will look like a smarter purchase with every month that goes by.

He’s as maternally bred as they come on the top side of his pedigree and the bottom side is bred identical to the $320,000 valuation 606 club calf donor female that sold in December 2024. We personally used this bull on some of our own cows. The options are endless on how to utilize this bull. The proof is in the sibs pictured here and the numerous full and half sib females we have retained that are some of the best we own. Get in on one of the last sons of Donor 567 to ever sell!

Hometown sired one of the best bulls we have sold in recent years, Main Street. Lot 44’s grandmother is the mother of The Mayor. This bull is genetically tied to some of the best matings we have going right now. We used this bull on our own cows late in the year so he comes into the sale with slightly less condition than what he otherwise would have had and he still stands out as one of the top bulls in the group. From head to hip, Lot 44 is built right. Just like The Mayor, he’s ¾ Angus so he’ll calve consistently lighter, but phenotypically he’s built to raise offspring with the best, stoutest bulls in the group. If you asked for the bull that could work on the widest variety of cows, has the most fault free build, should be one of the safest calvers, and still be one of the best looking bulls in the sale, Lot 42 is going to be very high on that list.

Lot 43’s full sister is a stout blaze face that raised possibly the best 9220 calf we have ever produced from a first calf heifer. This bull would work really well when bred to a commercial set of Angus cows to add bone, thickness, and growth to that calf crop.

Lot 47 is the only Purebred Angus bull in the sale but he’s bred so well that he might have been at the top regardless. He’s a maternal sib to Main Street who we sold half interest in 2024. Main Street was built really well which is why we retained half of him, but our first calves came last spring and he significantly out bred himself. You don’t have to worry about there only being 1 Purebred Angus next year because there will be quite a few Main Street sons without even thinking about other matings. The Lot 47 Argentine son is going to be looser made and more performance oriented than Main Street. You admire his soft build, good bone, and great hair coat. When you toss in the fact that the 816 cow just keeps working year after year this makes Lot 47 a good choice for those Angus breeders.

Lot 48 may be the closest thing we have produced to duplicate The Mayor. We felt that way so much that we flushed his mother and had quite a few full sibs born last fall. Lot 48 slightly tweaked his back leg the morning of pictures so he never would stand natural in the picture pen to give you that great look, but he’s fully healthy now. He exhibits those same soft middled, easy fleshing qualities that drew us to The Mayor. This is a bull that you want to keep every female out of, if not every calf in general. His mother mates well with The Mayor because she is so stylish. If there was a silhouette of a cow for the cattle industry like Jerry West is for the NBA logo, it might be Donor 822. This is a bull that could influence generations of your cowherd.

Lot 50 is the cockiest Mayor son in the sale. He has tremendous muscle shape down into his lower quarter and hits you with a great look from every angle. With that great look that he gives you, he’s also more alert to his surroundings. He knocked his ears down in the chute or else he might have given you the best picture in the whole catalog. By no means is he a bull to be concerned about, but he’ll definitely handle easier when there are other animals in the pen with him.

He’s just a little bigger backed, heavier boned, and more expressive throughout. That likely comes from his 9424 mother who has a very similar build that traces to Donor 424. The most efficient, easy keeping, heaviest cattle we own are consistently sired by The Mayor. Another nearly Purebred Angus son of The Mayor that offers better performance than some of his brothers. The 313 cow lineage is some extremely attractive females as 313 was a full sister to what was our lead Angus donor, 206Z. Utilize Lot 52 to make Angus based calves with a little extra thickness and body to them.

Our customers consistently tell us our bulls hold up better after the sale, through the summer breeding months, and last longer than previous bulls they have bought. While we believe this is partially a result of decades of extensive AI & ET programs breeding and culling for animals that work for cattlemen, that is only part of the equation. Our bulls are developed in large grass pastures and rarely in a smaller area than 160 acres until right before the sale.

Rather than being in a feedlot setting, these bulls consistently travel for feed and water while building muscle tone and athleticism; just like they would when they are turned out to go to work for you. We feel strongly that if these bulls are not over-conditioned, this provides value for you as the buyer to have a bull that is ready to work right away and has the structural integrity to last you many years to come.

Lot 53 was the first ever calf born from The Mayor and the excitement started from when he stood up. Lots of bulls never look as good when you get them home as they did on sale day and their calves never look like the bull you bought either. With The Mayor, the first calf was exactly how The Mayor was built his whole life and the rest have been the same which is unique. Lot 53 has more extension and style than many of his half brothers offer. His mother is a big bodied, easy fleshing, loose structured cow. We obviously went back to the well on that mating and Lot 53 has a full brother that looks just as impressive. When the bull looks like the real deal and there is this level of consistency in the genetics, dally hard and fast because this is one you don’t want to let get away!

If you’re tired of hearing about The Mayor that Kevin Gore bought half of from the 2023 sale, your relief is coming as this is the final of the 9 sons in the sale. Lot 54’s mother is part of an embryo flush that produced possibly the best looking Angus cows we have ever raised. Just an extra ⅛ Angus in this bull’s pedigree and he would be a Purebred. Similar to Lot 52, this bull will offer you a little more performance than many of The Mayor sons. Put them both together and that would be the most consistent calf crop you could get out of 2 separate bulls.

TAG: 2497 1/2 ANGUS SPRING 2024 BW:75

Leading off the 9220 sons is phenotypically the greatest calving ease bull we have ever raised. As the overused phrase goes, “Even Ray Charles could see that.” Lot 55 is arrogant and as perfect hipped as you can make one. A laser level couldn’t make his back any straighter. We don’t chase muscle in calving ease bulls because you will get to a point where it will become a detriment to how easy those calves come out, but this bull is stout for a calving ease sire. He was easily calved by a first calf heifer without any assistance. His sire and grandsire were all calved by heifers, unassisted, extremely light, and are still our go-to calving ease sires today. Lot 55 was small and light just like some of the more refined bulls you will see in the sale, but we don’t disagree that his build is wild for a calving ease bull. His mother is a stout, blaze faced Loaded Up Dolly female. The grandmother of Lot 55 is a full sister to a female that sold for $100,000 as a calf in 2015 and went on to be Grand at Louisville, Reserve Grand in Denver, and Reserve Grand in Kansas City for the Walker family in AR. The mother of Loaded Up Dolly won OYE for the Myers family. This is one of the most unique calving ease specimens you will find from any breed in any program across the country. Calving Ease

The mother of Lot 56 is a really attractive Purebred Angus Good Times embryo daughter out of Donor 206Z. With the added Angus influence and strong maternal genetics, Lot 56 could surpass his sire as the next bulletproof calving ease sire. Calving Ease

OUR CALVING EASE standards

If you haven’t noticed, we are incredibly cautious when marketing calving ease bulls. We almost exclusively sell calving ease bulls that were calved by first calf heifers, except for unique cases. To take that one step further, that heifer calving unassisted doesn’t mean that bull calf can be a calving ease bull.

We watch most heifers calve, document every calf at birth, analyze their build and how easy they were calved, and then still will not consider them sufficient without being satisfied with their vigor after birth.

Unless we are confident with breeding our stoutest crossbred heifers to that bull, they won’t be considered calving ease.

We haven’t exposed him to anything as a 2 year old but I feel pretty confident that he isn’t about to be laying in the shade if there is a cow even thinking about coming in heat. For years we have talked about the Icon x Donor 567 females being arguably the #1 pick if someone came and picked the best looking female we owned. The mother of Lot 60 is one of those Icon sisters. We’re not going to call this bull heifer safe, but he will definitely calve light. We studied his build, his structure, and genetics and said that this calf was going to make it for the long haul as a mature bull and we were going to keep him for the sale. He was no fluke though. Since he wasn’t the top steer that summer, his other 3 full brothers that we sold took that top spot. His mother has been a tremendously consistent donor for us and I think you’re going to be even more intrigued after you see her color that opens up a lot of potential for breeding Lot 64. This bull is built to make cattle that shear, but he has the hair coat that you want. He’s no fat, fluffy club calf that makes you wonder what you bought in the middle of July. We sell our top bulls through this sale so we decided to add a new element and offer the best 2 year old female as well! We’ve sold plenty of groups of females in the past, but now we are presenting an individual female that has the capability to alter the trajectory of a program. We could not think of a female that has the ability to create value for a wider variety of buyers than Lot 67. She’s a daughter of Turning Point who has sired our next generation of top Simmental females and a Primo cow that never missed. She’s a sow, she’s a whale, she’s everything complimentary that you can call a cow that you can’t call your wife! The amount of center cavity that Lot 67 carries is elite donor material. The squareness of build with that kind of huge middle is rare. Lot 67 travels unbelievably well for the substance that she’s carrying. There are Simmental females all over the country that have her middle though. The top programs have multiple females that they sell with that depth of body. When you compare their neck and throat latch, that is where Lot 67 leaves most of those big middled, sloppy necked Simmental females in the dust. This is undoubtedly an elite donor female that could have spent her lifetime creating the next generation of our top bulls and replacement females. If you do one thing for yourself in this sale, bid on this female until it is uncomfortable to do so anymore. You may just walk away with one of the best breeding pieces we have ever produced.
