Cattlemen: Welcome to the annual Arrow Brand Genetics Production Sale. The sale will be held at Lake Region Livestock in Devils Lake, ND. There will be a complimentary beef dinner served on sale day.

This year’s sale will offer a group of yearling Angus bulls. The bulls will sell in catalog order. Approximately half of the offering will be sired by the proven calving ease sires SAV Thunderbird 9061 and Hoover Dam G18. There will also be sons of Sitz Upward 307R, Apex Windy 078, and Feltons Meat Packer 62. There will be 35-40 bulls that are suitable for use on heifers. The bulls will be sorted into small groups by sire for ease of viewing on sale day.

This sale book contains a Pedigree, EPD’s, Dollar Values and Individual Measurements for all bull calves offered. A two generation pedigree is listed for each bull. There are Production, Maternal and Carcass EPD’s listed for each bull. Additionally, Dollar Values are listed for each bull. The individual measurements for each bull include the following: PRODUCTION MEASURES - Birth Weight (BW), Weaning Weight (205 Wt), Yearling Weight (365 Wt) and Frame Score (FS).

MATERNAL MEASURES – Age of Dam (Age), Dam Body Condition Score (BCS), Dam Frame Score (FS) and Dam Weight (Wt)

The EPD’s, Dollar Values, and the Individual Measures listed above can be used along with your visual evaluation to select a bull.

All bulls have satisfactorily passed a complete Breeding Soundness Exam.

An insert containing each bull’s scrotal circumference will be available sale day. The bulls are fully guaranteed for the first breeding season. We will stand behind the bulls 100% and we will treat you as we would wish to be treated.

Pre- Sale Inspection: All bulls are available for viewing at the Benson Farm until April 19th and thereafter at Lake Region Livestock in Devils Lake.

EPD Comparison and Average Data Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to progeny of other animals in the database. EPD’s are expressed in units of measure for each trait.

Accommodations: A block has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in Devils Lake. Call 701-665-3200.

For Example: Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

• Bull A WW EPD: +50 • Bull B WW EPD: +60 A producer can expect Bull B to sire calves that weigh 10 lbs more at weaning than Bull A – assuming that the bulls are exposed to similar cows, similar environment, and similar management.

Sale Order: All bulls will sell in catalog order.

Health: All bulls are part of a complete calf-hood and yearling vaccination program. Health papers and brand releases will be available for interstate shipment.

Phone and Mail Bids: Anyone unable to attend the sale can place mail bids with Justin Green or Jared Benson. Phone bidding will be available sale day by contacting Justin Green, Jared Benson, Vern Frey or Jim Ziegler.

EPD’s are a very good tool to use in bull selection.

Delivery: Free delivery in North Dakota will be provided on all sale bulls. A discount of $50 per bull will be made to buyers who haul their bull(s) sale day. All buyers should provide delivery instructions when settling up on sale day.

Upon request, a copy of the breeding soundness exam will be provided and registration papers will be transferred.

Terms and Conditions: The terms of the sale are cash. Settlement should be made the day of the sale to Lake Region Livestock. The bulls sell in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the American Angus Assoc.

Liability: Lake Region Livestock and Arrow Brand Genetics assume no liability for accidents at the sale.

Hoover Dam is a high accuracy sire of low birth weight, heavily muscled calves. The majority of the Hoover Dam bulls in this offering are moderate in their frame size, above average for natural thickness and show good spring of rib and internal capacity.
