Welcome to the 2019 Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo It’s a pleasure to welcome each of you to the 2019 Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo, an event that showcases some of the best cattle in the country, and something we are proud to be involved with for so many years as corporate sponsor. For 100 years, Kentucky Farm Bureau has served as the “Voice of Kentucky Agriculture.” A big part of our ag economy is related to our cattle industry and as we celebrate our Centennial this year, we continue to recognize the importance this sector plays in the overall tapestry of our agricultural landscape. Kentucky’s beef cattle industry has grown so much over the past two decades to the point of national prominence as the top beef cattle producing state east of the Mississippi and the eighth top state in the country. But more than just cattle numbers, the industry is such an important sector in Kentucky’s overall agricultural economy. With total farm gate receipts expected to hit the $5.7 billion mark in 2018, the state’s cattle industry represents about 13 percent of that total.

For those of you coming for the first time, I hope you find the experience invaluable whether you are showing, selling or buying. The Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo has become one of the premiere events of its kind in this area and we are glad you are a part of it. Sincerely, Mark Haney, President Kentucky Farm Bureau

In Kentucky, being grassroots is fertile ground for success. With more than 70,000 family farms in Kentucky, agriculture is a vital part of the Commonwealth’s culture, values and economy. Every year, farm families work together at the grassroots level to identify shared challenges and achieve common goals. Kentucky Farm Bureau reflects these challenges and goals in our polices, and we’re proud to advocate for farmers across the state in everything we do. Why Farm Bureau? Because Kentucky’s success depends on improved farm income, better economic opportunities, and enhanced quality of life for all.

This female is sired by Bieber Fusion B425 the selection of Shady Bottom out of the Fall 2015 sale of Bieber Red Angus. This will be the first and one of the few chances you get to purchase one of these B425 daughters as we lost him back last fall to a untimely death and our semen inventory is very limited. This female is one of the best we have ever offered and we believe will be very competitive in the fall division this next year and as a senior yearling next year. We were unable to picture this female for the catalog but we will have some of her a few weeks before the sale on the KY/TN Red Angus Association Facebook page.

AHL FLASHBACK 446B AHL FLORESS 6215D (3527594) RED SOO LINE FLORESS 0060 When we decided to add red angus to our program at HB, our main goal was to produce functional seedstock that perform in the real world first and if they can show, then that’s a bonus. This may baby is no exception, a daughter of the breed leading genex sire Profitbuilder, Floress has impressed us since day one. She has all the qualities to show at any level, and is puppy dog gentle for the first year showmen. When her show career is over, turn this one out to pasture and watch her blossom into a leading brood matron for your program!

Farrah Fawcett is a product of a past KBE purchase from Shady Knoll out of the pen sale. Her dam, SRA True Promise, turned into a really good cow after being named Champion Red Angus at the Indiana State Fair. Farrah is also by the performance leader, Bieber Hard Drive, who’s semen is getting really difficult to find. This one was a favorite of ours all summer. Another nice balanced, super deep sided one with a ton of rib shape, we expect her to make an awesome cow with a picture perfect udder, just like her momma. Her numbers are good, as you would expect from Hard Drive. If you are looking for a show heifer, this one has a good disposition, is the first one in the barn every morning and has a ton of shag so you can make her look really, really cool.

This fancy heifer calf is out of a 13 year old cow we purchased out of the James Red Angus dispersal a few years ago. There were three or four outstanding daughters of her in that sale that sold really well. We got her flushed a couple of times, including to Bieber Hard Drive to make this one. Super feminine and cool about her head and neck, big topped and stout through her upper hip. She’s good on paper too with 6 EPD’s in the top 10% of the breed. She’s got a cool look and great hair to go with it. Kid broke with a puppy dog disposition, just don’t get in her way when it is feeding time because she really likes to eat.

Rather if you sell your calves by the pound or keep replacements back, HB Stronghold fits the bill. This early March calf is one of the highest performing animals we have raised, out weighing many of his January and February contemporaries, this calf is backed by cow power as well! His mother goes back to the great female producer LSF JBOB Expectation, she is beautifully constructed with a picture perfect udder, and has never failed to get bred on time. If your looking to add pounds to your calves on sale day or keep daughters to build a program around look for this guy on March 2nd.

PE to Andras Right Time C144 (3526546) from 5/1-8/1/2018

AI Bred to Over Draft Pick (3548524) on 4/28/2018 PE to L3F Abe (3730955) Looking for a moderate, and reliable, kind of female? Well, venture no further than this Nexus daughter. The feed bill won’t be in jeopardy with this one around. She’s maternal in her look, and while she hasn’t had a calf yet, her momma has given us no reason to second guess her ability to raise one herself. If you’re looking for a beginner breeding project, for your young ones, this one’s got a great disposition, halter broke and all the basics.

PE to L3F Diversion 116 (3626785) Ladies and Gentlemen, there’s only one word to describe this Mulberry 26 P granddaughter, and that’s unique. She’s got the extension, explosive dimension, as well as the bone and foot shape that this breed is chasing, not to mention maternally, she’s got an udder that you’ll be thankful to see both in the pasture and come weaning time. Don’t miss your chance to purchase this genetic and phenotypic powerhouse! She comes halter broke, with a great disposition.

If you are looking for a big hipped, stout bone young cow, you might have a interest in this Ultimate daughter. She is big legged and bold in her rib. In my opinion, she has the necessary traits for a good brood cow. Her first calf was sold as a show prospect in the Illinois Power of the Reds 2018 sale. She is halter broke and has an outstanding disposition.

Heifer calf at side, born 10/7/2018. Sired by Feddes Liberty D210. Cow PE to LSF SRR Weigh Up 7253E (3723635) 12/23/2018 to present 409D combines the eye appeal we have come to know from her many time champion sire with the maternal look and broodiness of her dam. 0Y15 is well on her way to reaching donor status as she consistently raises one of our top calves each year, 409D is following her footsteps. We really appreciate the style and mass her 10/7/18 heifer calf by Feddes Liberty D210 possesses and feel she will show then make a top end cow. Note, the three heifer calves we have consigned are three-quarter sisters and offer a tremendous opportunity to line up a consistent set of replacements.

Feddes Liberty Sire to the Lot 42, 48 and 49 Heifer Calves on the Side Deep bodied, long spined and thick, this young female comes from our highly productive Bertha family. Her Gold Robber x Rambo bred dam was Reserve Grand Female at the TN State Fair as a two year old pair in her only showring outing. 305X has since gone on to be one of the top females in the main cowherd. The 10/3/18 heifer calf at side sired by Feddes Liberty D210 has a world of potential cow power with elite females on both sides of her pedigree.

From the Fayette family that has a long history in the Pieper Red Angus herd, 902C’s dam is a maternal sister to the well-known PIE Deep Creek (sire to Meado West Montana Creek). She stacks generations of predictability with Cowboy Cut, Get R Done and JR 107. Her 10/8/18 Feddes Liberty D210 heifer offers her dam’s depth of body and neck extension with the length and thickness we have seen from her sire. D210, at Select Sires, is the 5L Independence sired maternal brother to Feddes Oscar X28 at ABS.
