Gregory Abrams Davidson helps Cash for Kids OUR chosen charity at Gregory Abrams Davidson this year is Radio City Cash for Kids.

This incredible charity helps ill, disabled and disadvantaged children aged 0 to 18 across Merseyside, although the charity runs nationwide. Despite covering such a large amount of the country, the money raised in D VSHFLÃ&#x20AC;F DUHD VWD\V LQ WKDW area. Collectively, Cash for Kids raised over £20million in 2016, supporting more than 500,000 children.

We have a Charity Committee of eight members from across all areas of our Ã&#x20AC;UP :H GHFLGHG XSRQ WKLV charity because we wanted to help local children and, clearly, Cash for Kids was the ideal charity to help to do this. $V D Ã&#x20AC;UP ZH WRRN SDUW in Super Hero Day, which consisted of our staff dressing up and donating money. Overall, from numerous supporters,

Cash for Kids raised over £500,000 with this campaign. We also attended 2·1HLOO·V RQ 6W 3DWULFN·V Day to help fundraise.

Well, as I write this the weather forecast is looking good so hopefully we are in for some nice weather for the kids’ school hols.

Rotary Club of Liverpool South ROTARY Liverpool South meets Monday evenings at 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Galkoffâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s and the Secret Life of Pembroke Place wins National Lottery funding LIVERPOOL landmark, Galkoffâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s shop frontage, is to be preserved and protected with a ÂŁ291,300 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), thanks to National Lottery players.

P. Galkoff Kosher Butcher Shop is an iconic building fronted with highly decorative green tiles.

Originally a house, the Galkoff business opened around 1908 and the amazing tiles were added in 1933.

It is located just a few doors away from the last remaining area of Liverpool court housing (back-to-back houses around courtyards a prevalent type of working class home in the mid-19th century).

Thanks to the support of HLF, work by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the Museum of Liverpool can now go ahead to preserve this iconic legacy of Liverpool history.

The project aims to conserve the historic tiles, to uncover more remnants of the court housing and peopleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s lives there and to research the Pembroke Place area from the 18th century onwards.

The culmination of this will be the recreation of the Galkoffâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s frontage, returned WR LWV RULJLQDO Ă&#x20AC; QHU\ DW WKH Museum of Liverpool as part of an exhibition which will reveal the Secret Life of Pembroke Place, due to open in October 2018.

How long does the process usually take?

This is when the third party does not accept full responsibility for the accident but is prepared to pay a percentage of the value of the injury and losses.

Anybody who has suffered a personal injury knows that the effects can be devastating.

Beyond the injury there can be psychological consequences, impacts on work and family life, and long-term expenses.

Our expert personal injury team specialise in helping clients get their lives back on track by gaining the maximum amount of compensation quickly and with the minimum of fus–s.

Whilst the length of the process is very much determined by the circumstances of each case, personal injury claims are usually resolved within no longer than 12-18 months.

We do all we can to ensure the process is much quicker than that. Much depends on whether liability is disputed and the prognosis for our client’s recovery, but cases such as straightforward road traffic accidents usually take no longer than 6 months to conclude.

Will I need to be medically examined?

Whilst this is not compulsory, it is normally in the best interests of our clients to be medically examined.

We will direct the claim to the third party and their insurance company who must then confirm whether or not liability is disputed.

There has been a trend in recent years for insurance companies to attempt to settle cases without the evidence of a medical expert. This is seen by some as an attempt from insurers to settle claims for less than they are actually worth.

If liability is not disputed, negotiations will take place with a view to concluding settlement of our client’s claim. In the event that liability is disputed, the third party must disclose all relevant documents, which then allows us to further advise our clients as to the prospects of

There are always two sides to any accident and sometimes it can be one party’s word against the other. In those circumstances it can be difficult to predict what a Court would decide, as often this depends on how well a witness performs on the day.

Even with the most straightforward of circumstances, there is always what is known as a ‘Litigation Risk’ i.e. a risk that the case could lose. Our expert case handlers will take all of this into account and carefully assess all of the evidence when advising our clients in respect of any ‘split liability’ offers.

What is ‘No Win, No Fee’ and will I have to pay anything?

This is the agreement between us and our clients which allows us to pursue cases, even where the prospects of success are less than certain.

Despite the best efforts of our case handlers, for various reasons not all cases can succeed. In the event a claim is unsuccessful, the ‘No Win, No Fee’ agreement confirms that we will waive our fees, conditional upon the terms of the agreement.

In the vast majority of our cases we are successful in obtaining damages for our clients.

In such circumstances, our client will only pay a contribution towards our costs from the damages obtained. Whilst costs vary from case to case, depending upon the amount of work done, the deduction in this regard will never exceed 25% of damages obtained.

As already mentioned, it can be very difficult to predict the outcome of a case that proceeds to Court. Our case handlers will therefore always strive to bring matters to a swift and amicable conclusion, avoiding Court if at all possible.

If, however, we consider that settlement is not in the best interests of our clients, we are not at all afraid to vigorously pursue cases as far as it takes, in order to secure the very best outcome.

In such circumstances, consideration will be given to issuing Court proceedings. This can ultimately mean that a Court will have to decide a case, but this is relatively unusual. Our client’s wishes will of course always be foremost, and we find that in most cases Court can be avoided.

Countdown to Liverpool: race start times revealed FURTHER details for the week of festivities and timings for the highly anticipated Clipper 2017-18 race start, taking place on August 20 in Liverpool have been revealed.

Clipper race founder and chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, said: “Liverpool is an incredibly proud and vibrant community and we have had fantastic experiences here in the past which is why we were so keen to return. There will be plenty to see and do so we hope to everyone join us once again and help make this another truly memorable event for the city, and our crew and supporters.”

The race start will begin with a Slipping Lines ceremony at 9.15am in the city’s worldfamous UNESCO waterfront Albert Dock before all 12

yachts and their courageous UK and international crew form a spectacular parade of sail on the River Mersey from 11.15am to 12pm.

At 12.30pm the Clipper race start gun will mark the beginning of the

circumnavigation which, subject to change pending approval, will start with a short course on the River Mersey, a chance for spectators to get up and very close to the action. This unique challenge is

August’s dog of the month – Gigga GIGGA is a lovely ÀYH \HDU ROG *UH\KRXQG who’s racing career is far behind him now.

All Gigga wants these days is a comfy duvet and a decent diet.

This poor lad had to have 19 teeth removed recently but with the quality food he’ll get from now on, the other 23 are safe!

He’s a very easy going, laid back boy who

enjoys playtimes and will happily play by himself.

Gigga gets along with other large dogs, but due to his racing background, care should always be taken around smaller dogs and other furry animals when out for walkies. Dogs Trust can’t guarantee that Gigga is fully house trained as he has likely spent his life in racing kennels, but as an adult it shouldn’t take

him long to learn. He can live with sensible, calm children aged 12 and over.

Cat of the month – Young mum ‘Geranium’ and her three kittens GARSTON Animal Rescue is looking for a forever home for Geranium and her three kittens, found living in a shed of a garden in Netherley much to the surprise of the new owner of the property.

New exhibition PHOTOGRAPHS which capture the wit, warmth and energy of Merseybeat group, Gerry and the Pacemakers on their rapid rise to fame, are on display at the Museum of Liverpool until January 7.

Gerry and the Pacemakers: Hit Makers and Record Breakers is a new exhibition of more than 30 images by local photographers, Graham Spencer and Peter Kaye. The exhibition includes evocative images of Gerry and the Pacemakers performing to enthusiastic crowds in the Cavern Club. The photographs capture Gerry Marsden’s charisma and connection with the crowd in the heady atmosphere of the world’s most famous cellar.

Add a refreshing touch to your next meal with this lemon sorbet recipe THIS easy-to-make, refreshing lemon sorbet (called sorbetto al limone in Italian) comes from our chefs in Italy at their cookery school in Sorrento.

Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s the perfect way to use summery citrus as part of your next meal.

What youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll need: Q 200g sugar.

Q Three unwaxed, juicy lemons.

Q 500ml water.

Q 50ml grappa or vodka.

Because of the addition of grappa or vodka, this is an adults-only recipe, which makes it great for book clubs, girlsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; nights

in, or any summer meal with friends. This recipe serves four people, so make sure you have enough if you plan to prepare it for more.

To begin, combine the water, sugar, and the zest of one of the lemons in a saucepan. Bring this to a medium heat, constantly stirring until you have cooked it down into a syrup.

Then, let it cool and discard the zest by straining the mixture so you are left with a smooth syrup.

While it cools, juice the three lemons. Add the juice of the lemons and

the grappa or vodka to the FRROHG V\UXS 7R Ă&#x20AC;QLVK put the entire mixture in an ice cream machine for about 15 to 20 minutes or until it reaches the consistency you desire.

If you do not have an ice cream maker, fear not. You can also freeze the mixture to a partially frozen state, then put it

in a food processor or blender to break up the chunks. Repeat until you have the right texture.

Once this has been completed, put the sorbet in the freezer for 10 minutes and serve cold, with mint or lemon zest as garnish.

This sorbet is best made-to-order and fresh.

You can, however, prepare it early and leave the mixture in the freezer.

Then, before you plan to serve it, run it through a blender and re-freeze for 10 minutes.

An emotional rollercoaster with my baby Daisy May HI GUYS and welcome to my August edition of Life â&#x20AC;&#x2122;nâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Style.

The past couple of weeks have been like an emotional roller coaster for me.

If you know me you will know how much my dog Daisy May means to me. Sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not just a dog, sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s my baby.

If you watched me on First Dates you will have seen how I talk about her being my spooning partner â&#x20AC;&#x201C; we do everything together.

Well, about two weeks ago I was out for my mumâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s birthday and Daisy May was staying at my nanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s when my nan called and said Daisy wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t herself but I just presumed it was because she was missing me as she gets like that.

They ran some bloods and it turns out she’s anaemic and, with dogs, it means there is an underlying issue that is quite serious and detrimental to the dog’s health so I have been heartbroken.

I have been off work taking her for multiple tests and we’re still no further on.

Not knowing if it’s something she’s had long term or something that’s affected her suddenly is eating me up inside.
