Chat With An Expat: Mark and Sara Hayes

Have you ever dreamed of leaving it all behind and move to Italy? Mark and Sara Hayes did just that. In 2018 they quit their jobs, packed up their car with the bare necessities and dogs, and drove (Mark on a motorbike and Sara in the car) to pursue slow living in Italy. Three years later, they're like kids eating Cadbury Creme Eggs in a candy shop each time they look out on the rolling hills of Alfiano Notto or walk through their large garden filled with fruit trees and inspira­ tion. They have converted the barn into an ideal holiday home and named it No. 18 Casa di Campagna. For anyone who may be hoping to buy a property in Italy, be sure to read (or watch) some tips shared by Mark about green building tax incentives.

Chat With An Expat: Ashe Lyon Bel Woodhouse spoke with Ashe Lyon who moved from Oregon to Puglia to pursue a beautiful slow life by the Italian seaside where she lives with her husband, Michael. Ashe has found her 'soul home' where she enjoys cooking and running her antique jewellery business called Edesia's Table.

The lifestyle is slow. Shops close at 1 pm and open again at 4 pm. Everyone goes home tor lunch and a rest.

This is life in Puglia. The wonderful pace of life gives a perfect work-lite balance by forcing you to slow down.
