The Venue Lexington Market
SINCE 1782
Baltimore’s Lexington Market is the oldest market in America. Founded in 1782 at the site where it stands today, Lexington has served Baltimore for more than nine generations.
The transformation of Lexington Market is underway! Baltimore’s Birthday Bash 2022 gave attendees a sneak peek at its progress.
It’s diverse, it’s unique, it’s Baltimore.”

Live Baltimore celebrates city life every day, but especially on Baltimore’s birthday.
BALTIMORE
CITY'S BIRTHDAY:
On July 30, 1729, Charles Carroll successfully petitioned the Maryland General Assembly to pass an act allowing “the building of a Town on the North side of the Patapsco River.” Just like that, Baltimore was officially born! What began as fewer than 100 households is more than 225,000 today! Since 2015, Live Baltimore has celebrated our residents, our neighborhoods, and the birth of our beloved home on the final weekend in July.
