Welcome to the first Summer Communication letter for summer 2026! We are excited that you are a part of our Lumina community.
Brottier Hall
McGinley Hall
Brottier Hall is a housing option located right on campus. Brottier offers the convenience of apartment-style living in the heart of the university community. Students in their Junior & Senior years, and Graduate or Master's programs, are eligible to live in Brottier Hall.
McGinley is our newest building located on Forbes Ave. The building features a variety of amenities. Students in their Junior & Senior year, as well as students in their Graduate or Masters programs are eligible to live in McGinley Hall.
St. Martin Hall St. Martin Hall offers a living experience for sophomores. This studio apartment-style provides students with increased independence while still being part of the on-campus community. Each unit includes a bathroom, kitchenette, and modern furnishings.

McGinley Hall Move In
Floors 8-11
We are excited to welcome you to McGinley Hall! You are welcome to pick up your key as early as 9am on Wednesday July 1, 2026. You can come any time after July 1st during our business hours (Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm). The check in table will be located in the McGinley Hall parking lot left of the building form 9am-4pm on July 1st and 2nd . To unload your vehicle, pick up your key and grab a cart. If you are moving in any other time in July, your key will be located at the front desk of McGinley Hall during business hours. Please be aware that our offices are closed on July 3, 2026 to observe the holiday, and we will return to the office on July 6, 2026 . If you cannot make it during business hours, let us know and we can work with you to pick up your key outside of these hours. You will need to complete the Key Agreement (be sure to log in using your MultiPass credentials) and bring your identification upon arrival to pick up your key. Please note that there is no parking on Forbes Avenue. The parking area on the side of McGinley Hall will be used for move in parking. Spaces are limited. For your safety and the flow of traffic please sign up for a parking space for easy move in.
Move in Day What To Know As a new Resident to McGinley Hall, you will have access to our Resident Portal. 1. Click “Need to Sign Up?” 2. Select Property: “Lumina Communities” 3. Use Your DUQ Email Address: 4. Other emails will not work. The Resident Portal is where you can submit any work order requests and complete your Move-In Room Condition Report. The Move-In RCR allows you to document the existing condition of the space and will be compared to your move-out RCR. Please be aware that you will have 72 hours after collecting your key to complete your move-in RCR. After that deadline, all items will be marked as ‘Good’ and the RCR closed. You are able to receive your mail directly to McGinley Hall. We have a package locker- the Hub and mailboxes in our main lobby. You will receive a Hub set up email in the coming days. Please register using an Amazon account connected to your email/phone number. This does not need to be the account you order from. We highly encourage you to review our website, Campus Link, and social media pages.
In Building Moves August 3rd - 7th at 12:00 PM In building moves and Lumina building move (BH to BH / MH lower to MH lower, BH to MH, MH lower to BH). You will be notified a week prior to the exact date of when you can pick up your key for your new unit. From the time you pick up your key, you will have 48 hours to vacate your current unit and return the key to the front desk key box. You do not need to move out on 7/21/2026 if you are moving within the building or between Brottier and McGinley, however the switch of units will need to occur during 8/3-8/7. Please ensure you follow all move out and move in procedures in order for a smooth move out/move in experience.
APARTMENT MEAL PLANS WHAT IS AN APARTMENT MEAL PLAN? With the variety of cooking amenities that the Lumina buildings offer, not all students want a traditional meal plan! Duquesne Dining offers apartment meal plans with 5-7 meal swipes a week and flex! This is a convenient option for students who still plan to grab lunch at one of the many dining options on campus. You are not required to have a meal plan when living in the Lumina communities.
HOW TO GET A MEAL PLAN
You can sign up for an apartment meal plan through DORI. Log in using your Duquesne credentials and click on the Meal Plan tab, then Apartment Meal plan. From there you are able to select your desired meal plan! Returning Lumina residents can now sign up for apartment meal plans. New Lumina residents will need to wait until the end of the summer to apply, as housing has not yet transitioned for the semester.

Brottier Hall front circle will be closed during move in and will be used as the check in area. Residents will follow traffice signs and DUPD will direct traffic and parking during August move in days .
Move In/Out Parking Campus Police will assign an officer to assist with directing traffic and helping families safely enter and exit the McGinley side lot. We will designate 10 temporary unloading spaces in the lot with appropriate signage. Families will receive a temporary parking pass upon arrival. This will be with their key when they pic it up. Staff will be stationed in the lot to assist families with unloading vehicles into carts. Carts will enter McGinley through the entrance by the gym. Once a vehicle is unloaded, a member of the family or group can move the vehicle to the parking garage. The garage gates will be open to facilitate this process. For students arriving alone, we will hold and monitor their carts while they park their vehicle. Elevators will be placed on manual service during move-in to maximize efficiency. Staff will assist with transporting carts directly to student rooms. Students and families will need to promptly unload their belongings from the carts so they can be returned to the unloading area for the next family.
This process will be used for all scheduled move-in days and designated move-in time slots in August. Students who arrive outside of their scheduled move-in days or times will not be guaranteed access to unloading spaces, parking accommodations, or move-in carts. Their room key will be available for pickup at The Hub, and they will be responsible for completing their move-in independently.

Register for the Amazon Hub Q: Where does my mail and packages arrive as a resident of Lumina Communities? A: In Live at Lumina Buildings, we utilize the Amazon Hub, which enables students to pick up packages 24/7. Packages from Amazon and other companies are often placed in the Hub. If the package is perishable or oversized, a message will be sent to the resident via Entrata or our Front Desk. Mail is placed in a labeled mailbox for the unit. Q: How do I access the Amazon Hub and my mailbox? A: To access the unit’s mailbox, the key is stored by the front desk and should be returned in labeled tray afterwards. To access the Amazon Hub, you will first have to activate your account. Please check your DUQ email for further registration information and register your account under your own Amazon account. Once activated, you should receive emails when items are checked into the Hub, granting you access via barcode or number code.

Open Streets Pittsburgh will be hosting an event on Sunday, June 28th from 10 AM to 2 PM. As a result, Forbes Avenue from Downtown to the Armstrong Tunnels and including the Armstrong Tunnels will be closed to vehicular traffic. We do not reccomend any move ins on this day due to road closures.

Early Arrivals On both Friday, August 14th and Monday, August 17th from 9:00am - 4:00pm we will welcome residents needing to move in early. Please fill out the early arrivals form. Everyone must fill out the form including; students wishing to move in early, RA’s, Orientation Team, student employees, etc. There is a $50 fee for an early arrival. Brottier Parking Garage Applications will be sent to current leaseholders for potential renewal in the coming days. The application link is available to all beginning on July 1st at 12pm! The leases will be valid from August 23, 2026July 19, 2027. The total cost of the garage permit is $1696 and will be billed in two installments.

We are hiring for the desk aid position! Monitor all access to the front entryway of the building; this includes greeting residents/visitors to Brottier, St. Martin, and McGinley Halls reporting safety/security issues to appropriate authorities, and administering sign-in/out procedures for guests and equipment according to university policy. Provide customer service through personal and electronic interaction (e.g. tours, emails, instant messaging, phone calls) Act as a referral agent for students; be knowledgeable about campus resources. Knowledgeable about work order system and provide guidance to residents. Assist residents with lockouts. Sort, forward, and record mail and packagesfor residents and staff. Assist with mail key/box audits.
McGinley Bike Room McGinley Bike Room applications are now open on CampusLink. Permits for the bike room are free and leases run from either July 1, 2026-May 31, 2027 or August 23, 2026- July 19, 2027.
