These Bibles have a label in the front for a simple no-­‐stress way to let a woman know that she is being prayed for. Dozens flew off the shelves at CBOQ Assembly in June and throughout the year. Pick up some for your group at our spring conference.

Thanks to all of you for your commitment, generosity and heart for mission. Because of you we had a great year of ministry to vulnerable women and children and supported community development. We also launched two new programs to support our vision of being a ministry for women that facilitates their authentic experience of God. We believe that the call to mission begins with that experience.

We are pioneering new w ays of connecting online. Over the fall and winter a few of us joined a web conference for Scripture reading, silence and prayer.

Vulnerable women and children In 2015, we gave $135,000 to Canadian Baptist Ministries on your behalf. What did those dollars fund?

Children and youth at risk ($33,750)

Bolivia (Casa de la Amistad) • 68 boys and 54 girls -­‐ received 2 0 meals a week, medical checkups, school materials, recreational activities, heard the Gospel and took part in daily devotionals

Rwanda (Children of Hope) • 69 students – school fees covered • 236 children (heads of households) – took part in agricultural training to become more self-­‐sufficient

India (girls’ hostel) • 60 girls – enrolled into government schools, received school supplies, meals twice a day, tutoring, spiritual formation

Vulnerable women ($33,750)

Democratic Republic of the Congo (survivors of rape) • 614 women (and men) – medical care, fees for children’s schooling, trauma healing, counselling, training on gender-­‐ based violence and stigmatization within the community, money management

Kenya (urban Muslim ministry) 309 were helped including: • 141 women through the Self-­‐Help Group Program • 48 women through Adult Literacy programs • 14 girls – received school scholarships

Rwanda (women’s literacy) • 678 students -­‐ graduated in the literacy project, received certificates and Bibles • 160 people -­‐ trained in gender issues training • 20 families with primary school-­‐aged children – received books to read together on topics like fighting HIV/AIDS, street children, balanced diet, savings and loans

Food | community development ($33,750)

Kenya (North Eastern Province development project) • 30 farmers – received agricultural training and tools/equipment, • 4 major trainings and workshops conducted

South Sudan (water project) • 8,450 women and 6,600 men – benefitted from the drilling of 1 new w ell in the vulnerable area of Jaach: training, future reduction in w aterborne diseases, girl children w ill saved from hours of fetching w ater – can now go to school

Buying Sex Is Not A Sport Pan Am 2015

eXpendable In June, we hosted Rev. Joanna Doak from Atlantic C anada for a run of her original musical eXpendable – about sex trafficking in big cities during the Super Bowl • 18 actors, musicians and crew • 3 cities | 4 performances

Silent Stand-­‐Ins (during semi-­‐finals and final events) • 6 venues in southwest Ontario • 6 events – rowing | cycling | track and field | soccer| boxing | volleyball • over 50 Canadian Baptists (men and women of all ages) joined other volunteers and stood in silence for 30+ minutes outside venues

Farmtown Canada

Farm Girls Rule! (after-­‐school program) • Over 5,000 (all programs) – tween and teen girls and boys at risk w hose lives have been changed by Farmtown Canada’s unique blend of equine therapy, love and attention, all given within a clearly Christian context.

Oasis-­‐Dufferin Community Centre

Women’s Program This program’s focus is vulnerable Latin American women living in the west end of Toronto. It consists of group counselling and individual sessions (in Spanish) as well as ongoing education.

Group counselling • 21 weeks (3 semesters) -­‐ Oasis W omen’s Support Group • 8–12 women attended each group. Each group received training in healthy relationship, communication and boundary-­‐setting, tailored to that specific group’s needs.

Education • Workshops on physical and emotional wellbeing offered in partnership w ith Toronto Public Health and Redwood (a w omen/children’s shelter in the community).

rEcess, Kingsway

A respite programs for families affected by disability • 45 children registered with an equal number of volunteers • 10 -­‐ members of the leadership team (up from two!)
