Residential care Our small, friendly care homes offer different levels of care, from 24hour nursing to assisted-living. Clients and carers can rest assured that professional managers and well-trained staff provide high quality, personcentred support and treat service users with respect. Each person has their own bedroom or flatlet in our spacious and comfortable homes. Communal lounge areas provide space for socialising and staff provide support for all kinds of activities both at home and in the community.

Flexible support We have many years’ experience of offering flexible, professional and value-for-money care and support services, taking the time to talk to clients to understand their needs.

We can organise assistance with just about anything – from personal care to shopping to taking part in sports or going to the theatre – and take care to match clients with support staff that they trust and who share their interests.

Self-employment Our Enterprise Agency helps unemployed disabled and disadvantaged people start up their own business. We run a course of workshops focusing on basic business skills such as finance and marketing and our business advisers guide clients through the crucial stages of business start-up.

Community engagement We work in partnership with churches and community-based organisations to improve social inclusion, enabling disabled and disadvantaged people to play an active part in community life.

Our training courses and special projects are designed to educate and inspire people to make a positive difference.

Campaigning Working closely with disabled and disadvantaged people, we challenge injustice, using our experience and research to achieve change.

Education centres Disabled learners, from the early years to post-16 education, are welcome at our education centres which provide fantastic environments for residential and day students to learn and grow. Specialist staff take care of emotional and physical needs while the students work towards gaining nationally recognised qualifications and enjoy sports, social and creative activities. Life skills classes, independence training and work placements help with a smooth transition to adult life.

Brain injury rehabilitation Icanho is Livability’s highly-regarded specialised rehabilitation service for people who have an acquired brain injury often as a result of a stroke or an accident.

Our experts offer assessment, advice and treatments such as physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy to help clients rebuild their lives.

Holidays Disability should not be a barrier to enjoying a holiday. We offer affordable, accessible holiday accommodation for disabled people, their friends, family and carers. In addition to our hotel in Llandudno, there are four self-catering properties available in popular seaside destinations. All holiday properties are fully accessible, featuring level access shower rooms and are equipped with specialist profiling beds and hoisting equipment.

International work Livability’s International programme aims to increase opportunities for people with disabilities in developing countries to live full, inclusive and integrated lives in their own communities. With a focus on increasing the quality and coverage of essential and sustainable healthcare, rehabilitation and community inclusion services Livability’s international programme impacts positively on the lives of thousands of people each year.

Fundraising As a charity, we rely on the kind support of others to donate and volunteer with us to continue our valuable work supporting disabled people to be as independent as possible and give them freedom and choice. Many people choose to support us through giving regular gifts, leaving a gift to Livability in their will, taking part in sponsored events, volunteering at our local Livability services or being part of a local fundraising Friends Group.

History

Visit us

Our founders, Lord Shaftesbury and John Groom, were great social reformers in Victorian times. Their separate charitable societies led the way in giving disabled people a fair chance in life. These organisations joined forces in 2007 to create Livability.

We understand that carers need to know their family member will be well looked after in high quality accommodation so we welcome visits to our services.

These offer the opportunity to discuss care needs and personal ambitions, look around the facility and meet some of our staff and clients.

Inspired by our strong roots, we have grown into a national charity that provides a range of high quality services for disabled children and adults – and they all centre on enabling clients to live life to the full.
