VIRTUAL INTERVIEW " ! b o j SKILLS e h t t o g "I "
Before the Interview Test your device’s audio and camera before the scheduled interview time. It may be useful to use headphones for sound clarity and a closer microphone. Install the latest software version and practice using it. Save the access link and meeting password (if any). Put your phone on silent and place it out of sight. Close all browsers and other applications.
Set up in a space that is well lit, quiet, and has an appropriate background. A blank wall or bookshelf are ideal interview backdrops. Stack a few books under your device so the camera is at eye-level.
Dress professionally from top to bottom, and act as if you are in the room with the interviewer. Don’t just dress from the waist up. Wearing a full outfit will help you feel more confident.
Show up early, just as if you were inperson for the interview. If you enter before the interviewer, keep your camera and microphone muted until the session begins.
Write out a few notes on the position or experiences you would like to share with the interviewer. This is a great bonus for a virtual interview setting to help you feel more prepared. Keep the notepad handy to write down the names interviewers (for thank you emails) and any information that you want to retain.
