LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY

Long Island University was chartered in 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, as a non-sectarian, co-educational, private university. Designed to provide education for “all walks of life,” Long Island University today is one of the largest private universities in America, with five campuses, nearly 15,000 students, and over 250 degree programs. The University today bears the motto “Urbi et Orbi,” Latin for “Of the City and Of The World,” is a descriptive phrase about the impact and location of Long Island University.
