Dear Friends,
In Chapter 48 of his Rule, Saint Benedict encourages monastics to see sacred reading as part of their daily “manual labor,” including committing to a particular book each Lent. Sister Judith Sutera, OSB, notes that sacred or divine reading (lectio divina) is “not an add-on that one does when there’s spare time around other responsibilities, it is something that has its own designated slot on the agenda” (St. Benedict’s Rule: An Inclusive Translation and Daily Commentary, Liturgical Press, 2021).
As a parish minister, I have always considered it a responsibility and privilege to connect (busy) parishioners with books and resources to help them reflect and grow, not unlike what Saint Benedict envisioned. While the needs of parishioners are diverse, our Spring 2025 Parish Resources Catalog contains a variety of possibilities to help parishioners read, pray, share, and grow in faith.
For biblical reflection and spiritual growth, don’t miss our popular pocket-sized daily reflection books for Lent and Easter or our books from Amy Ekeh, Bonnie Thurston, Virginia Herbers, Micah Kiel, Patrick Hartin, Friar Daniel Chowning, OCD, and Isaac Slater, OCSO. Each in their own way, these resources break open the healing ministry of Jesus, the passion narratives, the lives of our biblical friends, and our own longing for personal and social transformation in our polarized world.
This catalog also showcases important new resources to support parish ministers and ministries, including liturgical and initiation ministries (from Living Liturgy to our recent ritual books), communication ministries, trauma-informed pastoral care, and social concerns ministries; as well as continued reflection on synodality, the abuse crisis, and analysis of our ever-changing church and social life.
God bless you in your ministry with all God’s People,

Justin Huyck Editor, Pastoral and Parish Resources

The Soul Also Keeps the Score
A Trauma-Informed Companion to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius

Whether you are a spiritual, pastoral, or mental health professional, member of the care circle, or wounded seeker, The Soul Also Keeps the Score unlocks a treasure trove of fresh insight and hope.

Healed by Love
Contemplation as a Path of Healing according to St. John of the Cross
Daniel Chowning, OCD
God has planted in our hearts an insatiable longing to love and be loved, that is, to love God, others, and creation with the very love of God. We know, however, from our human experience, that we fail to love as we desire with all our heart. In Healed by Love, Carmelite Friar Daniel Chowning, urges those in need of healing to seek refuge in the spiritual doctrine of St. John of the Cross.
“Healed by Love is a masterpiece of the integration of our Lord’s healing ministry captured in Catholic biblical theology, St. John of the Cross’s Carmelite mysticism, and solid contemporary psychology grounded in the truths of Catholic anthropology.”

Accountability, Healing, and Trust
Interdisciplinary Reflections for Ministry in the Midst of the Catholic Sex Abuse Crisis
Edited by Kimberly Hope Belcher and David A. Clairmont
By carefully listening to the words and wisdom of survivors, this volume focuses on ways forward in the work of creating an atmosphere of accountability, healing, and trust in today’s church.
“Accountability, Healing, and Trust engenders hope, doing so through respect for the needs of survivors, honest confrontation with the sinfulness and failure that blight many aspects of the ecclesial community, and a commitment to the conversion that the church’s prayer and worship engender. This is a challenging book, but a necessary one.”
Richard Lennan, Professor of Systematic Theology Boston College—Clough School of Theology and Ministry
