School budget vote counts to be delayed; mailed votes due June 16 On June 7, by Executive Order, Governor Cuomo extended the deadline for receipt of ballots in local school districts for budget and board seats. This year due to the pandemic, voters must cast their ballots on paper, either mailed or delivered by hand to their school districts. Mailed ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on June 16 to be counted. June 9 at 5 p.m. is still the deadline for hand delivery of ballots to school districts. In Syosset ballots may be placed in the drop box at 99 Pell Lane. The office of the Jericho School District's Clerk is located at 99 Cedar Swamp Rd., Jericho Absolutely no ballots for the 2020-2021 Budget Vote and Trustee Election will be accepted by the District after 5 p.m. on June 9,
except those received by mail.
Syosset School District Two incumbent trustees are seeking reelection to a second term on Syosset’s school board, Carol Cheng and Anna Levitan, as each was victorious in their 2017 campaigns. Newcomers Brian Grieco and Susan Falcove are also on the ballot.
Jericho School District
In the Jericho School district two incumbents are running unopposed for two open seats. It is unclear what would happen in the event of a school budget vote failing. Normally, school districts can hold a second vote, but this year there would be no time to do that before the districts' fiscal years start on July 1st.
