“Car Show Long Island” on May 19

This premiere car show will take place on Sunday, May 19 from 11 am to 4 pm at TOBAY Beach. The event was previously scheduled for April 28, but cancelled due to rain. Car Show Long Island’s 2019 Spring Classic will feature hundreds of automobiles, trucks, military vehicles, and emergency service vehicles. A live concert performed by The Mystic will take place during the day, followed by trophy presentations. The event is free for spectators.

Supervisor Saladino stated, “Whether you’re a proud classic car owner or you want to see the best cars in the region, the Car Show Long Island is the place to be! This free family-fun event is a perfect way to spend the day, all with the beautiful backdrop of TOBAY Beach. Spectators can check out cool cars, vendors, exhibits and enjoy live music while surrounded by Long Island’s most classic, muscle, antique and exotic cars.”

Trophies will be awarded in ten categories including best-ofthe-best, and children will have a say when deeming which rides are their favorites in the Kids’ Choice Award. Car owners can pre-register their vehicles at www.carshowli. com for $15 per car or register the day-of for $25 per car. The event is free to spectators who are asked to bring two cans of food to donate to Island Harvest, the largest hunger relief organization on Long Island.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that nominations are currently being sought for the Town’s Veterans Volunteer Awards, which will take place prior to the Annual “Salute to America” program on Tuesday, July 9 at John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa at 7:30 pm. Residents are invited to nominate extraordinary individuals who have made a difference in our veteran communities. “The ‘Salute to America’ concert provides the ideal backdrop to recognize veterans and individuals who continue to actively serve in the community and advocate for issues and concerns relative to veterans. The Town is proud to recognize and honor amazing individuals who have helped to shape our communities for the better through their continuing advocacy and exemplary community service each year,” Supervisor Saladino said. “I hope residents will consider submitting a nomination of an individual who deserves special recognition for their continued efforts on behalf of the veteran’s community. I look forward to recognizing the efforts of outstanding individuals who have impacted the lives of our veterans in an extraordinary way yet again this year.” Nominations are being accepted in three different categories of recognition: Veterans Volunteer of the Year (awarded to a veteran), Friend of Veterans Volunteer of the Year (awarded to a non-veteran), and Lifetime Achievement Award (awarded to a veteran or a non-veteran). All entries must include a supporting narrative describing the nominee’s on-going veterans related activities, and all nominees must be Town residents. Winners will be recognized as part of a special program during the Town’s “Salute to America” concert, a patriotic evening of top flight musical talent and fireworks, which serves as a thank you to all of our veterans and active military for protecting the freedoms we enjoy each and every day as Americans. To submit a nomination for the Veterans Awards, please visit www.oysterbaytown.com or call (516) 797-7925 for an application. All nominations must be postmarked no later than June 14, 2019.
