Residents evacuated from fire Nassau County Police were able to safely evacuate 14 residents of a burning Hicksville house on Saturday, November 4. According to police, Second Precinct officers responded to a house fire
that started in the rear yard and spread to the exterior of the home, located at 25 W Cherry Street. Officers were able to evacuate all 14 residents to safety without injuries. The Hicksville Fire Department extinguished the

Arrest for attempted murder during burglary Nassau County Police charged a homeless man with attempted murder after he allegedly entered an occupied Hicksville home and attacked the occupants. According to police, Alberto Garcia, 35, entered a West Cherry Avenue home through an unlocked living room window and proceeded to the kitchen area in which he grabbed a red kitchen knife. Police say that Garcia then made his way to a basement bedroom and confronted a 24-year-old male victim, a 34-year-old female victim and a 10-year-old female victim. Garcia then allegedly lunged at the male victim while swinging the red kitchen knife, causing a laceration to his right thumb. Town rally supports Israeli hostages
Local officials, local rabbis and other religious leaders, families, community leaders and nearly 2,000 residents attended a community rally and candlelight vigil at Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park on November 5th. The demonstration was organized to demand the return of Israeli hostages held captive by Hamas and pray for the families impacted by horrific terror in Israel. The family of IDF soldier
