Police: Hicksville man tried to kill mother

Deliveryman robbed inHicksville Nassau County Police are investigating the robbery of a driver who was making a delivery to Stop and Shop on Saturday, November 2nd at 7:05 am. According to police, a 35-year-old male driver was stopped and sitting
in his truck waiting to make a delivery at the rear of Stop and Shop located at 530 West Old Country Road. The victim was approached by an unknown man who displayed a black handgun and ordered him out of truck and empty his pockets.
The subject was handed two cell phones from the victim and then fled on foot east on Duffy Avenue. The robber is being described as male, black, thin build, black hooded clothing, ski mask.
Nassau County Police have arrested a Hicksville man who allegedly tried to push his 82-yearold mother down a flight of stairs in an attempt to kill her. According to county detectives, an 82-yearold victim entered her residence that she shares with her son, defendant Anil Khandpur, 39. Police say the son grabbed the victim, dragged her to the top of the basement stairs and attempted to throw her down. The woman was able to kick herself free but was again assaulted by the defendant, who allegedly bit her on the cheek, causing a laceration and substantial pain. The woman then barricaded herself in a bedroom for several hours. Upon exiting the bedroom, police say Anil Khandpur assaulted her, punching her multiple times in the head, causing substantial pain. According to police, the woman was able to flee the residence and call 911. Upon police arrival, Anil Khandpur was
placed under arrest without incident. Anil Khandpur is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, three counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Aggravated Family Offense.
