TOB launches “Back the Blue” ribbon campaign

The Town of Oyster Bay has joined with local and police officials to encourage residents to support the ‘Back the Blue’ ribbon campaign in recognition of Police Appreciation Week, a national recognition celebration in honor of men and women in blue. Typically held in May but rescheduled due to pandemic restrictions, National Police Week honors law enforcement officers who service to protect the safety of our communities, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. During a kickoff ceremony on October 4, Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino was joined by Councilwoman Michele Johnson, Councilman Lou Imbroto, Councilman Tom Hand, Town Clerk Rich LaMarca, Assemblyman Michael Durso, 1st Vice President of the Superior Officers Association Edward J. Perkins and President of the Detectives Association John Wighaus. “The Town’s Blue Ribbon campaign encourages residents to show their support for men and women in blue by decorating their homes, businesses, storefronts or trees with blue ribbon,” said Supervisor Saladino. Motorcycle crash in Hicksville

A serious crash involving a motorcycle and automobile took place on West Old Country Road and Newbridge Road on Thursday, September 30 at 6:30 p.m. According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 58-year-old

male operating a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, was involved in a collision with a 49-year-old male operating a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. As a result of the collision the motorcyclist suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hos-

pital, currently listed in stable condition. Both vehicles were impounded for a brake and safety check. The male operator of the Hyundai remained at the scene and was not injured.
