An array of community stakeholders enjoyed the return of National Night Out at the Broadway Commons in Hicksville on Tuesday, August 3. Presented in partnership with the Nassau County Police Department, Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D-Plainview), the Hicksville Fire Department and local community partners in business, education and healthcare, this year’s National Night Out event featured a variety of family-friendly activities, live music by Endless Summer, a Beach Boys tribute band, giveaways from local businesses, free refreshments, and
more. Held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is an initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” In addition to the more traditional National Night Out offerings, Heart & Health Medical Group administered Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to eligible attendees who rolled up their See page 16

Educational camps keep kids active during summer BY GARY SIMEONE For many students in the Levittown school district, this summer has so far consisted of historical and marine life expeditions, as well as learning to
be an instrumental musician. Over a hundred kids in grades 4–8 participated in a variety of district run camps that enriched their minds and learning experiences. Todd Winch, assistant
