“Cruise thru Food Drop”

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Tom Hand recently hosted the Town’s “Cruise Thru Food Drop” held in partnership with Island Harvest Food Bank, aimed at helping meet the increased need for food donations for local families. The Cruise Thru Food Drop was held in the parking lot of Marjorie Post Park and helps restock local food banks throughout Long Island. All in all, the cruise thru food drop collected over 12,000 pounds of nonperishable food items collected to feed hungry families. Supervisor Saladino and Councilman Hand commended all in attendance for the amazing job they did helping to support local families.

Town demolishes “hoarder home” The Town of Oyster Bay demolished a home on Willow Street in Bethpage on June 29 after homeowners failed to respond to multiple complaints about its non-maintenance. Nassau County Police have arrested a Bethpage man for allegedly shooting a Hicksville man at a 7-11 convenience store on Jerusalem Avenue. According to police, they responded to the store, located at 413 Jerusalem Avenue, at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, to assist a man who had been shot in his right hip. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. Police say that after an investigation, they arrested Matthew Escarria, age 18, of Hicksville, whom they say struck five rounds at the victim, striking him once.
