Police seek leads in drive-by murder

SEASHORE SAFARI

Nassau County Police are asking the public's help in identifying the person who shot and killed a 27-year-old Plainview man on Tuesday, January 14 at 5 p.m. According to police, Justin Gottlieb left his place of employment in Jericho around 5 p.m. to go to his home. Gottlieb was driving his 2002 red Ford Explorer, and may have been involved in an altercation with another driver. He was followed by a light colored four door sedan, possibly white, to Margaret Drive East, in Plainview, where he was shot and killed by an occupant of that vehicle at approximately 5:30 p.m. Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who can identify the subject, vehicle or with any information about this crime to call 1-800-244-8477.

Town awarded NHL grant for youth ice hockey program

The Town of Oyster Bay has received a grant from the National Hockey League to acquire ice rink dividers which will be used in instructional and game settings to split the ice rink surface at the Town's Ice Skating Center in Bethpage. Currently, the ice rink dividers, which were pur-

chased utilizing a grant from the National Hockey League, are being solely employed in the 8 year old youth ice hockey division, but will be utilized more thoroughly as time progresses. “The Town’s Youth Ice Hockey program has consistently been recognized as one of the best

Child endangerment arrest at mall

Nassau County Police arrested a Woodbury man on Monday, January 20 for child endangerment after an incident at the Broadway Mall. According to detectives, Hector Castro, 52, of Woodbury approached a seven-year-old boy at the Broadway Mall, and grabbed his leg inappropriately. The boy’s mother confronted Castro after witnessing this occur and he walked away. A short time later, Castro allegedly approached an eleven-year-old girl and touched her inap-

propriately. Police say Castro fled the scene and was located by responding officers at a nearby location and arrested him Hector Castro is charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
