At its events to start the fall season, including a Networking Night mixer at George White Restaurant and Bar, the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce leadership took time to recognize the hard work of many volunteers who helped make the 2021 Syosset Street Fair, held on Sunday September 19, a tremendous success after it returned from a one-year hiatus. The 2021 Street Fair saw over 120 vendors and sponsor businesses and organizations line Jackson Avenue and Cold Spring Road, just north of the Syosset LIRR station. At the Chamber’s George White restaurant Networking event on Wednesday, September 22, Chamber Board member Alan I. Goldberg presented statistics on the Street Fair Syosset Woodbury Chamber membership, as through September 2021 an additional 25 businesses have joined. “The number of vendors and sponsors that supported the Street Fair was similar to our 2019 tally. We exceeded the Street Fair’s revenue objectives and we even did a little better than we did two years ago, which is fantastic! It was a real team effort, and this represents the collective efforts of many people. I have heard great feedback from attendees, Syosset/Woodbury locals and our vendors,” he said. The Chamber has announced a tentative date of September 18, 2022 for the next Syosset Street Fair. To officially honor the dozens of 2021 Street Fair volunteers, Goldberg has organized an outdoor “Thank You Celebration” to invitees, to be held on October 19 at under the tent of Chamber member restaurant Hurricane Grill & Wings. The volunteers will receive free food and drink at this invite-only event. Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce President Russell Green recognized the Chamber’s 2021 Businessperson of the Year, its board of directors’ member Amanda Johnson for her volunteerism and lending her decorative talent to setting up the Street Fair. Like Green, Johnson has lived in the community for decades and went to great lengths to ensure the Street Fair’s successful return last month. “Amanda of Balloons by Amanda was in the community, helping put up Street Fair signs, and dealing with the storage issues of all the See page 10
