Agents band together to sponsor fair BY RIKKI MASSAND
Three Compass real estate agents have banded together to provide the highest level of sponsorship for this year’s Syosset Street Fair, which will taking place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown north of the LIRR station. Compass real estate is a newcomer to the Syosset Street Fair. When the fair was last held in September 2019 the company had yet to position itself in the community. It was started with its base in the Hamp-
tons and in Manhattan with the luxury market, and the closest Compass location to Syosset/ Woodbury was in Roslyn at the time. Tricia Shannon is a longtime Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce board member, and the chairperson of the Women in Business networking group which was started 11 months ago. Shannon worked with Douglas Elliman’s Syosset office for several years before joining Compass. Joanne Mackonochie moved into north Syosset in 1999 and
has lived and worked in the community for the last 22 years. Her three children all attended the Syosset Central School District, and now they are adults busy in their careers. She has over 27 years of experience in real estate and her communities include Syosset, Woodbury, Oyster Bay Cove, East Norwich, Laurel Hollow, Muttontown, Jericho, Plainview, Old Bethpage, and Hicksville. Yi Qian, the founder, owner and director at the iSchool of Music & Art, located in the heart of Syosset at 14 Cold Spring Road, is enthused to showcase the many programs his educational enrichment center provides. After the Syosset Street Fair had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce is proud to showcase of local businesses on Sunday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., just north of the Syosset LIRR station along Jackson Avenue and Cold Spring Road. The iSchool of Music & Art is a Gold-level sponsor of the event, and founder Yi Qian is very eager to see so many familiar faces as the Street Fair returns. “This Street Fair grew bigger with every year, thanks to the dedication of the Chamber. It’s more precious that we come together again in Syosset in 2021 and get to have such a wonderful event in the downtown. For us, Street Fair presents another step forward in getting back to normal and welcoming everyone in town,” he said. The iSchool features music and arts education, both for children over 3 years old (during after-school hours) and for adults of all ages.
