After making it all the way to state-championship level competition in Owego, New York this week, the Syosset Baseball 10U Williamsport Braves team (Little Leaguers) finished the year as the Empire State’s fifth place team. This season is sure to go down as one of the most impactful ‘home runs’ for local youth baseball. In its final game of the year on Monday, July 26, the 2021 Little League New York State Section 4 East champions, the Williamsport Braves, fell to New City (Rockland County) with a dramatic final inning and final at-bat. Down by a mammoth 11 to
4, the Braves rallied and put up five runs with momentum to tie the game. With two runners on base at second and third, with two outs and the winning run at the plate, the Braves had a few final swings to stay alive. It wasn’t to be this year, as New City’s team fielded a great play at shortstop and the final out was recorded. The 2021 season for the local youths, players ages 8 to 10, very much marks a high point in the history of the Syosset Baseball Association.
