BMW stolen at Syosset gas station

SUPPLIES FOR NEEDY PETS

Town Supervisor Saladino, Councilman Steve Labriola and Councilwoman Laura Maier proudly partnered with Long Island Cares for their Annual Legislative Pet Food Drive, which took place in April. The drive focused on collecting food for residents’ pets through Baxter’s Pet Pantry, which supplies free pet food and supplies to pet-owning families in need. Town officials recognized residents for their generosity in donating over 303 lbs of pet food and supplies, which will in turn keep pets at home with their loved ones, well-fed, and out of shelters.

Nassau County Police are seeking information about a car theft which took place at a Syosset gas station on Tuesday, April 26, at 4:43 a.m. According to detectives, a male victim, 35, went inside the BP Gas Station at 200 South Oyster Bay Road, and left his unlocked black 2011 BMW running. According to police, prior to the victim’s arrival a grey Nissan Murano with two men in it and a white Range Rover with two additional men arrived and lingered at the gas pumps. One of the men allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and all three vehicles fled southbound on South Oyster Bay Road. No injuries were reported and the

investigation continues. One man is described as wearing a white sweatshirt, black jeans and white sneakers. A second is described as a male wearing a black sweatshirt and a black ski mask. The third is described as a male wearing grey sweatpants with a black stripe down the leg, grey sweatshirt and black sneakers. The fourth subject is described as a male wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and a white hospital mask. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.

Syosset HS principal launches podcast on college admissions

Syosset High School Principal Dr. John Durante recently launched a podcast with the goal of providing insights straight from college admission professionals of top national universities and colleges. Through the podcast, named The College Admissions Process Podcast (The CAPP), students and parents can hear straight from the people who ultimately make the decisions, with insight and advice on every aspect of the college admissions process. To date, twenty-seven episodes are available on the podcast including

Cornell University, the University of Michigan, Penn State, the University of Florida, SUNY Geneseo, Michigan State, Iona College, Adelphi University, High Point University, Ohio State University, Sacred Heart University, Bucknell University, Vanderbilt University, and Syracuse University. Future episodes will feature some of the top universities and colleges nationwide including Wake Forest, the University of Miami, Stony Brook, NYU, Tulane, the University of Georgia, and many more.
