The Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce has announced that the popular Syosset Street Fair, held annually on the Jackson Avenue/Cold Spring Road and Berry Hill Road intersections, will be returning in the fall. The Street fair was canceled because of the pandemic in 2020. The all-day Street Fair is hosted by the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, and will be back on Sunday September 19, 2021. More details will be posted on the Chamber’s website, SyossetChamber.com. Hours for the Street Fair are traditionally from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Street Fair’s return was announced during the Chamber’s meeting on Thursday, March 18th. Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino was the guest speaker for the meeting, which was held via Zoom. He was joined by Town Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development Jim McCaffrey. Chamber members learned more about the Town of Oyster Bay’s commitments to helping local businesses survive and thrive once again and about the many resources that exist for budding entrepreneurs and those wishing to work with the Town. Saladino noted how the Town of Oyster Bay with a population of close to 300,000 has had the “safest COVID-19 infection rate numbers of any municipality on Long Island.” “We set up a COVID Team led by the Deputy Commissioner of General Services and this involved keeping all Town administrative and departmental offices clean, watching who is coming and going from Town buildings and instituting a digital platform for contact tracing. We set up a testing facility at the Hicksville Community Center so TOBAY employees and their family members could be tested, then we opened that up to other municipalities via the water district and fire companies and their families because we realized early that testing and contact tracing was a very important part of it,” Saladino said about pandemic response since last March. The Supervisor offered his thanks to all the Chamber members. “It’s been clear to me that the Syosset Woodbury Chamber is made up of dynamic members who can always step up to the issues of the day. I thank all of you for keeping our local businesses and merchants going strong under this pandemic causing the worst of situations, and this takes leadership, innovation and tireless support despite the challenges of COVID-19,” Supervisor Saladino said.
