Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently participated in the Special Olympics New York Polar Plunge, held annually at TOBAY Beach to benefit Special Olympics New York. All funds raised at the event support Special Olympics New York’s programs and promote awareness of people living with intellectual disabilities in New York. Supervisor Saladino was joined at this great cause by Town Councilwoman Michele Johnson, Receiver of Taxes Jeff Pravato, Assemblyman Mike Durso, North Hempstead Supervisor Jen DeSena, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder and Legislator Steve Rhoads.

Ribbon cutting at Syosset rehab BY RIKKI MASSAND Last November Ivy Rehab clinic opened in Muttontown Plaza at 224 West Jericho Turnpike in Syosset. On March 10, the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce gathered with Ivy Rehab’s staff for a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony at

the new location. The grand opening event featured welcoming remarks from Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, who attended along with Town Economic Development Deputy Commissioner James McCaffrey. Neighboring family-owned business Mara’s Southern Kitchen

catered the event. Dr. Nicole Sorrentino, clinic director and physical therapist at the Syosset Ivy Rehab location, said the first real introductions to Syosset and Woodbury that she and her team received came during the 2021 Syosset Street Fair. From Ivy See page 13

The Town of Oyster Bay invites residents to participate in the Spring Beach Cleanup and Marine Education Expo, scheduled for April 16 at the Town’s north shore beaches. The event, held rain or shine, is co-sponsored by Friends of the Bay. Beach cleanup volunteers – including individuals, groups, families and friends – should meet at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park (off Larrabee Avenue in Oyster Bay) beginning at 9 a.m. “This great environmental cleanup initiative features volun-

teers and Town employees rolling up their sleeves and working side-by-side to remove litter and debris from the beaches and shoreline along our north shore,” Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino said. “We invite residents of all ages to pitch in and help make a difference in our community! This year’s event will also feature new activities, exhibitions and a scavenger hunt for kids.” Volunteers are invited to participate in the cleanup, which will run See page 13

DWI arrest in fatal motorcycle crash Nassau County Police arrested a Forest Hills, Queens, man for allegedly striking a motorcyclist and killing him while driving drunk. According to police, on Tuesday, March 15 at approximately 11:45 p.m. Jordan P. Solomon, 30, was operating a 2021 Kia K5 sedan heading westbound on Jericho Turnpike, when he struck a motorcyclist who was also heading westbound. Police say that Solomon did not

remain at the scene. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say that they located Solomon on Jericho Turnpike at the Long Island Expressway entrance when his vehicle became disabled. Solomon was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Fatality, Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, and Assault in the 2nd Degree.
